(Oye vay, our house had needed a lot of work, so we did the inside, and landscaping first.. while the roof waited patiently) This month we FINALLY scheduled to have our - very old, badly maintained, bondoed.. duct taped.. (from WAY back) ..mess of a flat roof ... TOTALLY FIXED! We interviewed 3 companies and went with VANDERHOOF. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we have made since moving to the area. Vanderhoof came in with a swat team of capable roofers, and worked like a band of Army Engineers. They tore off DECADES of badly done roof work, layer after layer after layer. (What a mess of construction debris!) At the end of every work day, they left our yard immaculate. Then they built, and built, and restructured, and redesigned. (Flat roofs need expert attention). The work took a bit longer than they estimated due to the amazing number of layers to be removed, and their painstaking rebuilding process - but the Syracuse weather cooperated *(!!) and the work finished yesterday and it looks fantastic! (Photo shows NEW SPECTACULAR FLAT ROOF! Later I'll dig out the original roof.. it looked like a moonscape of bulbous waves and misguided historic attempts to mesh a labyrinth of disconnected ill selected materials. (We inherited it in 2016. ) I can't recommend Vanderhoof highly enough.

In the process, water damage was discovered (due to the way our house was built) and Shawn and his crew came up with the a permanent solution. When I stopped home during the day to check the progress I noticed spare rib bones in the driveway and in the grass. When I went back after the dumpster was gone there was still a couple bones in the grass. I went to mow the lawn and there were about 15 thick plastic clamps that were left in the grass by the side of my garage. I came very close to mowing over them. There were about 10 more in my backyard by my pool, which I again almost mowed over. About 10 pavers that outline my front landscaping were knocked out of place and not put back and a ceramic planter was moved and not put back in place either. I sent in pictures and received a phone call. I was informed that my dumpster was denied because there was a recliner in it. I was told that my neighbor had one in his front yard across the street. I went over to ask him about it and he said one of the workers actually helped him put it in. He then showed me his ring camera footage which backed up what he said. I called back and was told that their workers know to not do that. In the meantime I found several nails in the back yard. I mentioned it during that call and was told that someone would come out and take a look all around the house. The gentleman that showed up spent all of 2 minutes, if that, and looked around the front of my house but never even went into the back yard.

After seeing the quality of their work in our neighborhood and meeting with the company's sales rep, hiring SOS roofing for the job was an easy decision. The sales rep was very quick to set up a visit after we initially contacted the company. While at our house, he thoroughly explained what needed to be done as part of our roof replacement, the materials that would be used, the steps of the job, and the warranty of the materials & workmanship. He then provided us with all of the shingle options along with his recommendations and gave us a fair estimate. Shortly after we contacted the SOS Roofing office manager to accept the estimate and give our material decisions, we were given a date for the job. A dumpster and all the materials arrived the day before the job started. The roofing crew who performed our roof replacement were outstanding! They worked incredibly hard and meticulously to complete the job to our satisfaction. Throughout much of the job, a foreman was present to support the crew and answer all of our questions. The day after the completion of our job, the dumpster was hauled away and the owner came out to do a final job inspection. He was very thorough in looking over the whole job and immediately addressing any concerns we had. While there, we both came to the conclusion that a 70' gutter on the back of our house needed to be replaced! While he didn't come to our house expecting to complete this added step, he took the time to take care of it because he was motivated to get it done right away! It was very obvious to us how much pride the owner has in his company and how important customer satisfaction is to him. It was a real pleasure working with the entire SOS Roofing team.
