Once I told her that I wasn't interested in the service, she said, "Then you're not a candidate for this. Let me get you a list of other doctors." WHY wasn't I informed of his being a concierge doctor WHEN I INITIALLY CALLED? I could have then looked for another doctor instead of WASTING 3 FULL BUSINESS DAYS as I waited for my appointment. THIS IS UNETHICAL! It was obvious that the purpose of my 6 July visit was not to meet with the doctor but, rather, to give me the sales pitch. While this may sound dramatic, I felt like I had fallen victim to the bait and switch timeshare scam at a high end resort. This was confusing because my mom and sister, who are both on the exact same insurance plan, were (and still are) seen here with no issue. However, the real reason I'm writing this review is because of what happened to my younger sister. She has been on medication for anxiety for about three years, prescribed by Dr. Evans, who was also my doctor and my mom's doctor. Recently, she decided she wanted to stop taking it, and Dr. Evans told her she could taper off completely in just two weeks. For a medication she'd been taking daily for three years. My sister followed the instructions, and this past weekend--after finishing the taper--she experienced severe withdrawal symptoms, including tachycardia (rapid heart rate) and intense stomach pain. It was frightening and completely avoidable. It's deeply concerning that a licensed physician would recommend such a short taper for a long-term medication. Dr. Evans has always come across as detached and lacking empathy, but this situation goes beyond poor bedside manner--it's unsafe and irresponsible. Between the unprofessional staff, inconsistent policies, and lack of genuine care, I cannot in good conscience recommend this office to anyone, especially those dealing with mental health medications.

Many doctors advertised that as a specialty, but that wasn't the case. ElderHealth is a concierge service, but for the standard fee my parents get housecalls, frequent wellness check-ins, and an entire team looking after and coordinating every aspect of their care. The ElderHealth team consists of Dr. Self, two wonderful nurse practitioners, and a social worker, and will bring in any service their patient might need, including music therapy and a nurse specializing in geriatric psychiatry. Before ElderHealth, my parents had a patchwork of specialists and had frequent problems when doctors didn't communicate with each other. Dr. Self and ElderHealth offer complete care coordination. They do everything possible to minimize hospital and office visits, bringing monitors and testing service to my folks' home. ElderHealth is a model of what medical care should look like.
