Normally, I buy frames at my optician's office but decided to shop around this time for a deal. Glad I did! There is a decent collection of frames here. Not a ton to choose from but enough of a selection that I was able to try on a few options I was interested in. Sales associates were available but not pushy. After I had some time to look on my own, the associate offered her assistance based on the criteria I had in mind. I was able to land on a fun pair of Cranberry-colored wire frame glasses. At a great price too! The associate worked to find me the best deal. The optical store was running a promotion at the time that would have saved me a lot of money on the frames. Fortunately, my eye health insurance offered a slightly better deal. I was concerned about how the thick the lenses would look in such a delicate frame. I wavered back and forth between spending the extra money to reduce the thickness of the frames. It was a significant difference. Not knowing what to do, the associate offered that if I was unhappy with the look of the cheaper option, I could simply pay what was left of the extra cost to get them replaced. Decision made. Within a week or 2 my new frames were ready. The thickness of the lenses was no bother and I didn't need to spend the extra money. It was nice to know though that I wasn't stuck with them if I hated them. The associate quickly fitted the eyeglass arms to my ears and I was on my way. They were very supportive in how the final frame looked. Pleasant experience, easy to work with.

However, that said, the people there went out of their way to be accommodating when I needed an eye exam ASAP. As an unestablished, new patient, they got me in the next day! Dr. Ni has a wonderful bedside manner. He puts you at ease while examining your eyes-- as this is not always the most comfortable experience. He talked to me about what was going on with my eyes and shared various options with me in terms of correcting my vision. After the exam his assistants helped me pick out 2 great pair of glasses and the prices were very reasonable. I was even given a discount because I purchased more than one pair of glasses out of pocket. I look forward to now having a great optometrist to establish a long term relationship with.

First, most of his equipment looked out of date and very old. Instead of using the equipment he decided to look at my eyes with a tiny handheld tool and got way too close for comfort. Second, when I was asked to look at the letter chart with my contacts still in I voiced my concern stating "I can barely see anything" meaning, I needed a new prescription. After he was done with the exam, he bumped one of my eyes down from -3.75 to -3.50, the same as the other eye. I know both of my eyes needed a stronger prescription before I even walked into his office and he handed me the wrong prescription. After he told me what my prescription was he told me "YOUR EYES WILL NOT CHANGE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE" meaning my eyesight, that has been worsening since I was 12 years old, will not get worse from here on out. Lastly, I went right after the election for the president and in the most unprofessional manner decided to ask me if I voted. I am extremely upset and uncomfortable with the way my experience went with this doctor. The only good experience I got out of going into his office was having a nice chat with the secretary who helped me figure out my insurance.

When good God Almighty created Homegirl, she was almost perfect in every way. However, the pure…read morebeauty bestowed onto yo girl was unmatched. The world would surely bully a queen like Homegirl, so hot and spicy. So one alteration was made. Then, one day in the second grade, this young porcelain princess began wearing glasses full time. Homegirl is....what one would call...perturbed. Her aura has been laden with fog. It clouds homegirls thought and ironically, her vision....you see Homegirl has not been to an eye doctor in some time. Homegirl had one single contact lense left in her bathroom closet but she got two sparkling hazels! She called around frantically for the soonest opening, which happened to be here. (Now we know why they was so available when everyone else was booked out on the lookout!) Mhmmm. Homegirl can't help but be swayed by first impressions. And upon walking in, Homegirl sniffed the unmistakable smell of shrimp jambalaya. She turns left-shrimp. She turns right-shrimp. She takes a seat-shrimpy shrimp! It was like a haunted house for homegirls nose. It was not lunch time, it was not snack time, it was not dinner time, yet the stank was real. Homegirl searched for a civilian on break. A misplaced fork on the reception desk, a take out container, a dirty napkin-anything to reveal food ,would have relieved Homegirl. But nay, the scent is embedded in the carpets and woven into the walls. This was an old smell left brewing in the fibers of any absorbable material. All this before her exam! Homegirl needs you to stay with her for a minute. Her vision was at stake. Without this appointment Homegirl would be the the blind beggar in the book of Mark waitin for Jesus, to touch her eyes. She had to continue with an exam. Now Homegirl sat in the exam chair, doctor seemed friendly. She needed contacts so he asked for homegirls prescription. Homegirl is very busy this Holiday season and doesn't have the strength to recall these numbers. If she don't make time for her Tae Bo tapes, that Christmas fudge will refuse to budge! Now this optometrist was a bit frustrated that homegirls memory could not provide him the information he wished for. Homegirl quickly replied "Cant you just figure it out?" He then asked if there was any way she could find out her OLD prescription first....Homegirl phoned home but her man was making the cashh for homegirls stasshh. No answer. He asked if I had records on my phone or any ideas...at this point Homegirl is annoyed. When she goes to the eye doctor she expects him to be knowledgeable enough to correctly formulate her prescription without the need of an old contact box. Plainer than a bagel, it seemed like it should have been simple. Homegirl would not recommend this establishment, and how she was made to feel because she couldn't do the doctors job. The two stars are for the receptionists, who was kind and helpful and one for Optometrist Lisa Smith who Homegirl had at a previous establishment years ago. She can't dock points from Miss Smith when she had no experience with her. Homegirl is both Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul. She gonna tell you how it is but she's also gonna tell you "I love your dress sweetheart". Homegirl is winded. The emotional pain of experiencing it all in real time, and then writing about it, makes Homegirl pine for Lasik. But then Homegirl would be perfect in every way, so maybe she'll stick to contacts so she can still be relatable.

They practically force you to have an eye image done, that you are required to pay about $50 for - out of pocket as they refuse to submit to your insurance and do not provide an itemized bill that explains the charge. My prior eye practitioner did these images as part of their standard eye exam, with no additional cost. Instead of working with you and your insurance company when submitting the claims, they submit codes that ensure that they get the maximum payment, regardless of whether you have coverage or not. My husband and I made appointments for Routine annual eye exams, which are covered by our insurance at 100% with no copay required. His office billed the appointments as specialist office visits, and submitted an extra charge for measurement of refraction. When I called the office to request them to reconsider how it was coded, I had to leave messages and never received calls back. I sent emails and again, no response. When I finally spoke to a person after the 4th call, they said they would speak to the doctor and call me back. NEVER HAPPENED. So this visit, which should have been covered at 100%, cost me over $250 out of pocket. This office does not care about patients. It is just a money grab. We will NEVER return. Find somewhere else.

Booked an eye exam appointment a few weeks prior (as previous OD office was switching hands and ~40 minutes away), went thru the typical eye exam with Dr. Tahmassian, went to check out to make next year's appointment and was told extra services were performed causing extra charges (+$69 for contact fitting and exam) outside the typical co-pay.. Office manager insisted this was business-standard, however after calling two other ODs and my previous OD, this extra charge was clearly not business-standard; "..an eye exam covers the examination of the eyes..will include eyeglass prescription and contact lens prescription if applicable..contact lens fitting for astigmatism would be extra, but no such exam specific to contact lens..vision is vision..", as stated collectively from three other ODs. Office manager, at the time of check out, refused to acknowledge just one eye exam was performed (no fitting was performed, asked for, or mentioned thru booking or thru exam with doctor), refused to give prescriptions until I paid their ask of additional charges, and insisted additional charges are business-standard for contact wearing clients. Additionally, office manager handed me incorrect prescriptions twice and told me I was all set both times; first time handed me two contact lens prescriptions (no eyeglass prescription), and second time handed me correct prescriptions however unsigned.
