Barrigas is a nice restaurant with a small bar in the back corner, housed in an interesting looking brick and stone building. We came here on 2 different evenings for a nightcap before heading to our nearby hotel. While I didn't try the food, my husband did and said that, while everything he had was good, it wasn't truly authentic Mexican and he likened it to Tex-Mex (not a bad thing, just an observation). The staff were friendly and accommodating, even allowing us to take our remaining wine and a set of their glasses to our hotel with us as we'd ordered a bottle here but were unable to finish it before closing time. We appreciated the gesture and were sure to return the glasses to them the following day. The one oddity here was the manager lady: Whenever we passed by she always seemed to be working, often sitting at the bar while doing paperwork and she tended to watch everyone, both patrons and staff alike, like a hawk - which was somewhat off-putting. Barrigas does have a few large TVs, but they always seemed to be showing music videos, concerts and similar content. I never saw them offer any sporting events or matches like a few other area restaurants and bars often did. read more

The food was delicious, we were a party of five and they sat us quickly. We ordered a variety of food from soups, guacamole and cauliflower as appetizers and they were excellent. The main entrees were on point-- great flavor, the food was hot and the spice levels were great for the plates. If you like aguas frescas specially the limeade you must try Barrigas' mineral one, great flavor, not to sweet and perfect to clean ones palate. read more

Impressed by the look and the taste of the food served. From outside, is just another restaurant. From inside, the restaurant is nicely decorated with semi rustic decorations The ambiance is very comfortable with good service from the waiters. Food is great. I had lunch, dinner tasting different items from the menu and nothing failed. They give chips as any other Mexican restaurant but, also "Chicharrones" which was unique. The only reason that I didn't give 5 star is due to the Mariachi Band. It was completely out of tune. Singer, guitar, violin all had separate tunes making a loud noise instead of music. Service: Terrible overall. Service was terrible, don't even bother saying "Gracias" because they could care less. Staff seems to get bothered when THEY ask if you'd like to order chicharrón or if you want water in a cup they'll offer a water bottle and if you say no it's like an offense to them. The waiter seemed like he hated his job. Not welcoming at all. It's so unwelcoming and awkward in there. Food: I got the Plato Mexicano, the rice and beans seemed to have been from the day before. The beans even had the crust that usually forms when they're left out for too long. As for the rice, it was hard and dry and tasteless. The food was cold, even the tortillas that were served with the food were cold and old. I ordered a Pepino water, tasted bad. The only good thing were the chips and salsa. You are honestly better off going to Wendy's or Denny's. Definitely WOULD NOT recommend. Don't waste your time or money. read more

My family and I came again for breakfast. The enfrijoladas con pollo where really delicious . So was the hot chocolate. We ended up getting milanesa to try... I really don't recommend it at all. Why I gave it a 5 star? Every place always has 1 thing bad from the menu, Barrigas so far has had more things good and I have only bumped with 1 bad thing. Good service, but just average at best food. What kept this review from 2 stars was the deserts and the margaritas. I do also enjoy the salsas and chicharrons. I ordered a chicken dish and I am not entirely sure what it was supposed to be, but the description sounded good. Came with refried beans, less than stellar guacamole, some cilantro, onion, tomatoes and of coarse corn tortillas. I tried every combo of items that I could come up with and all of it was underwhelming. Chicken looked flavorful, but was bland and everything else would have been substandard even by American Mexican food standards. We did end up having dessert and they were very good. I had the crepes and my friend had the chocoflan. He said it was the best he had ever had, and my crepes were really good. You can't go wrong with ice cream, crepes, brown sugar and cinnamon. All of this and a couple shots of Don Julio and I think our bill was still under $50. read more

To start our server had a terrible attitude and was acting as if we were forcing him to take our orders. The waiters just stand around talking and not attending to tables. Uncomfortable environment. We sat at the table a solid 15 minutes waiting for the waiter to bring over the check. Portion sizes are decent but it's a waste because the food has zero taste. You could probably get more gourmet food going across the street picking some food out of Starbucks. Stay away from this place. Trust me. I wish I would have read the reviews before hand. Fresh juices were great. My wife loves Mexican food and couldn't decide what to order because it all sounded good.

I would have given this place more stars because everything I tried was good but I don't like that they practically trick you into appetizers. We sat down and were offered coffee. One waiter brought us two conchas. Didn't ask if we wanted it. He just sat them down and said, "here you go". The other waiter brought a tray of fruit and yogurt asked if we wanted it. We said yes. We were charged for both. The fruit I understand but we never asked for the bread and weren't asked if we wanted it. The chilaquiles were delicious. The café lechero was OK. I prefer very strong coffee so this didn't do it for me but it was good nonetheless. I probably won't come back just because I feel that they take advantage of their customers especially those perceived to be foreign. read more

Great service from the start super friendly. We ordered the molcajete for 2. We didn't like the red sausage, but the chorizo , white cheese and nopal made up for it. Wow! What can I say! We've been in Juarez now a few days and we came across this restaurant because we're staying close by.... we walk in and it's beautiful, upscale and just fancy....food was amazing! We had the molcajete , queso fundido and our amazing waitress Elsa or Elisa convinced us on dessert! I'm glad she did we had the chocoflan and the crepe with baileys! Damn they were good! We literally could roll out the door with how full we were lol! We're from LA so what we paid here literally would not feed 1 person out there oh and the Margaritas were delicious! Went in around 11:15 am they were still serving breakfast, my brother in law loves this restaurant when he is in Juárez he loves the chicken fajitas. Did not see it on the menu I asked the waitress if it was possible to order it, she said that was ok! I was a happy camper I had a cup of coffee and a fresh squeezed grapefruit juice to drink they don't serve alcoholic drinks before 11:30 when I got my food I got a Bohemia Negra (not available in L.A). The chicken fajitas the chicken was mixed with bell peppers, onions and mushrooms it served with refried beans and avocado sprinkled with cheese, it was delicious I have had fajitas in the states, nothing compares to Barrigas! Barrigas was great. The staff was super attentive & nice. The atmosphere felt relaxing. I got the order of sopitos which had some juicy chicken breast, tomatillo salsa, beans and dry panela cheese. Stay away! The food is overpriced for the quality and taste. It is super salty and they sneak charges on your bill if you aren't paying attention. We have gone 2 times to this restaurant. The first time it was great bc it was the only restaurant close enough to our hotel and the only restaurant open on Christmas day (December 25th). We arrived and the restaurant was empty and we were seated right away. Our table was very wobbly as well as the chairs. We just made sure we didn't make any wrong moves. Service was great I will give you that. Our group of 5 all ordered the same drinks coke and same food chicken soup. They offered chips and salsa not complimentary and chicharon with salsas again not complimentary. The waiter got our order right all our soups were not hot just warm but very salty. We didn't mind it we just added extra ingredients including lemon juice. We all ate got the bill and left. We didn't notice the chips and chicharon charges bc we were "satisfied " with our food. And thankful they were open on Christmas day. The second day the 26th we missed breakfast at our hotel so we decided to have an early lunch here at the restaurant. We figured we liked it and it would be a nice place to eat again. We decided to sit in a booth bc of our experience with the wobbly table. The both was worse. The cushion kept sliding and there was a gap between the bench and the wall that my daughter's foot kept getting stuck in between. We were offered chips chicharon and salsa. A few moments later a waiter comes by and offers us a fruit plate that a table didn't want. We figured it was extra and it was complementary. We placed our drink order and food order and the food arrived quickly. We each ordered different plates this time. The food was again very salty and just warm. This time my father in laws plate was so salty he couldn't even eat it. We let the manager know and he made sure that charge was removed from our bill. We finished eating and then we asked for our bill our waiter brought the bill and reminded us that the manager removed the dish that was too salty. We apreciated it and as we were looking at the bill we noticed the chips and chicharon charge as well as the fruit plate. We assumed they were complementary and we asked the waiter and he told us know. We told him we didn't know and he said since we ate them we had to pay for it. We did. I would have given them 5 stars but we went there on Sunday for breakfast buffet got fathers day and the service was bad. We had no waiter for a while and to get our drinks it took forever.
