A great winery off the beaten trail in Lancaster. The owners are lovely, and got to know them as we sipped wines in a lovely "wine cellar" and perused the menu of yummy tapas. The night started with a delicious pre-meal dessert shown below accompanied with a glass of sparkling wine, and continued with two appetizers, the main course, and ended with another delicious dessert. Omg we absolutely LOVED IT HERE! We live in Los Angeles and my cousin got me and 2 other girl cousins a wine tasting with charcuterie boards. We met the owner, John, and he was just the sweetest and very accommodating. We were the first customers there and he really went above and beyond for our little girls trip! We were supposed to go visit different wineries after that, but decided to stay there instead and do more tastings! The ambiance was just too good to pass up, the wine was delicious, and the charcuterie board made the perfect addition to the tastings! This is a really small place! The food although menu is small is really good and the staff really friendly. Cook/brewer/owner stop by and say hello and check if we were having a good time (we were), he sat down and spend a few minutes telling us about the wine and story of the place. The wine flights are generously pour and prices are great! I can't talk about the quality of the wine cuz I know nothing about wine although there was nothing We didn't like and I actually ended up buying a few bottles to take home our favorite was CZS. I have sent this business 6 emails telling them I don't want & can't afford to be in their wine club since Covid hit. They ignored me & tried to keep charging me for their wine. Found this gem on Yelp a few months ago. It is pet friendly. We were greeted by a nice gentleman and he told us about the wines available and also a freshly made sangria. Red or white. We chose one of each. They are delicious! We saw a flyer to become a member and decided to join. We have memberships out in West Covina which is quite far from Lancaster. Today we picked up our first 3 wines and added the red and white sangria bottles to go. Can't wait until they open up and enjoy at home! read more

So my husband and I have recently discovered Barrett Cellars thanks to a friend. I have to say, we are highly impressed, so much so that the same day we came we joined their wine club and cancelled our memership at another winery. Let's start with the atmosphere, so comfortable and homey. You come here to relax and enjoy a glass or three or four of wine. They have a private room for wine club members, it's really cozy. Okay now to the important part... the wine... yes it is delicious, yes you will want more than one glass. Googled map this and it's definitely in the worst neighborhood and I actually mean a straight up neighborhood! We thought we were going to someone's house garage and they had No parking area and no handicap entrance, one way in (stairs) one way out. The place is literally sandwiched in between two homes. It is a converted house. We saw nice cars outside so thought we would go ahead and try it. We were not greeted by anyone and saw a wait staff walking by and let him know we had never been there before and asked what direction we should go, he pointed to a converted patio in a back yard were a table was set up a couple of chairs, bar top and DJ was set up. We chose to stay in the front part not a bad set up there outdoor furniture, large wine barrels with simple chairs, low light string lighting. Two women said they would be with us shortly. We sat for over ten minutes and decided to go in and ask for a menu. We told them where we were sitting and noticed a couple of cool nooks inside where people were hanging out in and a large wine rack in the middle of the floor area. We returned to our patio seating for about a half hour so my husband asked if someone would be taking our order, ten minutes after that a woman came by and said why are you hiding over here, what??? I said ma'am we saw you inside you said you'd be right with us she smiled and asked if we were ready so we gave her our order and wine tasting list- which was kind of cool you chose from either 3 or 5 wine choice samplers with high end $16.00 dollars for the 5 tasters, they offer a light menu we chose the 5 and the 3 wine tasting and a charcuterie large sampler then waited some more! I told my husband let's go (we had been there almost an hour)but we were vested at this point he went inside and told they would be right there, we waited another 15 with no check in, comments nor concern from the service staff. My husband went to see how much longer for the sampler and appetizer, to his surprise nothing had been started. Well they missed out on a couple of high spenders as we were looking to get a couple bottles of wine. In this case the gamble did not pay off. I seriously would not recommend going here ever, if your like us don't take any chances in a sketchy neighborhood and do t waste your time unless your main purpose to be there is to just hang out. read more

While it is true that the measure of a winery is all about the wine, and all of the reds we tried, every single one of them, were also delicious, it should be mentioned that the way you are treated, the ambiance, the TOTAL PICTURE is also a factor as to whether or not you enjoyed the wine tasting experience. Our bartender, Christine, was FABULOUS! She was informative, entertaining and extremely customer-service oriented. Absolutely fantastic experience! My girlfriend, along with my friends, and I went for a wine tasting and charcuterie and cheese plate (thanks to Groupon). Olga was the only one working due to limited social distancing regulated seating on the patio. She not only took everyone's five wine-tasting orders accurately but did so with the best attitude ever! The patio was shady and perfect for 106 °F weather! The wine selection was very good for people who love either dry or sweet wines. Their sangria was also excellent! Yelp tour of wineries in the AV for our anniversary and this spot came up, driving to it we were skeptical but walking into it was so nice like a different world. Greeted by a sparky enthusiastic hostess Christina is awesome and so knowledgeable, we had some wine tasters My wife is a wine drinker, myself I prefer beer but the wine here is the best I have ever had. My review is for my visit on 4/23. We had gotten there and an older lady sat us down in the nice VIP room since it was cold outside. I went with a wine club member so we had a complimentary 3 wine choice tasting. My friend was even nice enough to bring the lady 2 bottles of wine as a gift since she knows the owners. As we began the "tasting', they had none of the choices we wanted so we went with what they had. The pours took so long and at that point I just wanted to get a bottle or pay for a regular 5 choice wine tasting. As it started to get busy that's where everything went downhill, the lady never came and checked on us she literally just stuck us in that room with sticky floors and never even served us our wine flight we ordered. We had to keep looking for her and hunting her down for our food/drink. She came in and never even took the wine cards. We ordered a "large" charcuterie board and a pepperoni pizza and we waited 2 HOURS to get it. The charcuterie board had 2 pieces of salami and like 4 crackers. A Lunchables had more variety. The lady was very rude and snapped at us whenever we asked for anything. We were really understanding at first but we never even got a buzz, we all had less than a glass of wine with the meager pours. I looked outside and saw everyone else with full glasses having a great time except for us. At that point we decided to leave, again the lady was nowhere in sight so we walked out to get our check. As we got our check, a nice younger man was apologetic but when the older lady came by to see what he was charging us with she didn't offer us anything but a rude snappy apology. I told her about the flights that were never served in over 2 hours and the small charcuterie board. She rudely snapped at me "do you want me to comp you?" This was never about getting anything for free, I don't mind paying for what I order but this was ridiculous. It seemed she was just trying to get us out honestly. We should have left earlier. The service was AWFUL and I'm sorry but if you're understaffed that's your problem not the customer. It is sad because it is a small family owned business I will never support again. We happen to find this location on Google Maps while searching for Wine Tasting Rooms in the AV. One thing that caught our eye right away was that it was open until 9pm on Friday evening (most tasting rooms close by 6pm), so this was wonderful as it was already later. I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am to find this hidden gem in the AV. The place is absolutely beautiful with a wonderful patio for outside seating as well as indoor seating. The owner John was wonderful and showed us the back wine making room (so awesome) as well as Christina, who helped us with our tasting. Just wonderful people. The guests that walked in all said hello to us and we immediately made new friends that evening! Now about the wine.... I have to say, I lived up north and went to a lot of wineries over the years and most of them were just okay... so I wasnt expecting much... however I was amazed!! The wines are absolutely amazing!! I even liked the tastings of the wines I dont normally drink. The entire experience was wonderful! We became members that night and are so excited to go back!
