Barrons does a VERY POOR JOB with communication, follow through and overall competency. Two interactions with Barrons that illustrate the problems with this company: 1. Purchased Electrolux washer & dryer 11/23. The dryer broke 2/24 and it took 5 weeks for service calls to diagnose and repair. It was a very frustrating to work through their laborious repair process. The dryer failed AGAIN 7/24 and we were faced with the options of having no dryer for the next 5 weeks (we were told that we had to go through 3 "appliance failures" before getting a new machine). Because we had family coming for a reunion, we opted to purchase a new dryer and hope to be reimbursed. We were fortunate to have the resources to make this purchase. We were eventually given a store credit. 2. In 8/24 purchased a 36 induction cooktop to replace one that broke (same size and overall dimensions). Complicated installation process required a visit by a measuring person who stated the original opening was too small by an 1/8 of an inch and would require the stone be cut. The charge for this would be $550. On the day of the installation the team that showed up did not have the equipment or skill to cut the stone. They decided to try to install the new cooktop and fortunately it fit the original opening perfectly and no cutting was required. This is highly problematic - if not for the fact that Barrons booked the wrong installation team, we would have paid $550 for something we did not need. REGARDLESS of whether this error was due to incompetence or purposely, there is something very wrong here. There are other appliance stores with the exact same products that are better options. The prices are no different and as I was told by a sales person "we all buy from the same manufactures ". I would take my business to one of those other stores. read more

We recently (07/27/2024) purchased a new Whirlpool refrigerator from Baron's Appliances at 350 Loudon Rd in Concord, NH. It started out as a very positive experience and then rapidly turned into a nightmare. We paid for the refrigerator, shipping, and removal of the old refrigerator. The salesperson asked if we wanted to pay for them to come out to disconnect and reconnect the water line as the drivers are not allowed to touch the water lines and followed up with pointing out that it is very simple to do ourselves. We agreed and opted to handle it ourselves. We easily disconnected the existing water line just prior to their arrival on the 07/30/2024. The drivers brought the new refrigerator in and took the old refrigerator out. So far so good... After they pushed it into place, I attempted to connect the water line but, unfortunately, the connection was slightly different and would not connect. While, I was taking a closer look, one of the drivers snatched it out of my hand, and with the help of the second delivery person, struggled to unscrew one of the pieces of the connection. I thought it was strange that they were helping after being told at the store that they wouldn't. After fighting with it for a few minutes, they got it apart and connected it to the refrigerator. Being thankful for the unexpected help, I tipped them generously on their way out. Upon their leaving, we turned the water supply back on for the refrigerator and discovered that there was now a small tear in the water line, where they had been struggling with it, that was now spraying water all over the floor. This is where it turns into a complete nightmare. When I called the store to tell them what happened, I wound up speaking with a very unpleasant woman who accused me of lying, because "it was illegal for their drivers to touch the water lines, so it couldn't have happened". I tried reasoning with her but, I was met with more and more hostility. She eventually placed a call to the warehouse manager who, upon returning my call, initially told me that the drivers claimed that they didn't touch it. Fortunately, the warehouse manager turned out to be a reasonable person and sent a couple people out to see what they could do to rectify the situation. It was quite a while before I even got the initial call from the warehouse manager. In the meantime, I had called the store back a few hours later to see if there was update only to be met with the same or greater hostility from the same woman again. At this point, I called the corporate office and was told to contact the store manager and to leave a message with the corporate manager. I left messages for both. Over the next couple of days, I received a calls from the store manager and corporate manager - both of whom apologized and offered a partial refund to make up for it. I appreciated the apologies, the partial refund, and the fact that they did eventually send someone out to "fix" it that day. However, after having their drivers break my water line and then lie about doing so, having their customer service treat me like garbage and call me a liar without considering for even a second that I might be telling the truth, I have no intention of doing business there again. What if I have another issue? Would I receive similar treatment again? If I did have a problem, why wouldn't I expect this same woman to say "we had trouble with you last time too" and to give me a hard time again only worse? I'm a firm believer that anyone can shine when everything goes right. The true measure of a company/person is how they react when something goes wrong. I really don't feel this could have been handled much worse during the crisis. The aggravation this caused during the delivery day is unacceptable. I would never be able to bring myself to purchase from this store again. Unfortunately, I also bought the extended equipment warranty/service agreement from them. We'll have to see how that goes. I can't say how disappointing our experience was with Barrons. We try to shop local but in this case it was a big mistake. Their delivery guy for our new washer dryer damaged the dryer vent so the install couldn't be done. their tech came out and could make the repair for 5 weeks and Varrons said they wouldn't cover it even though it was their delivery guy who did the damage. We hired our own person to repair since theirs couldnt do it for so long. I wish we had just canceled everything at that point. On delivery the driver could not have been more rude, did not complete the install and said "I'm out" and left. RUN the other way. read more

I had another successful purchase with Baron's thanks to Jon & Tony. When my washer decided to quit, this was the first place I contacted. I knew I would be taken care of. I had requested to look at clearance or closeout washer machines just to get into a good price/deal. I had told Jon I would be in to take a look at what they had. When I showed up, he was busy with another customer, but Tony walked right over to me to help me. He took over from there & showed me what they had for offerings. Tony was very honest with me about certain machines that I inquired about (I did not want to purchase the least expensive machine just to save money, I still wanted quality). I quickly made a decision & placed a 50% deposit to hold the order. Before delivery, the order must be paid in full 1 week beforehand which I was able to do over the phone to save a trip. Tony was always quick to call me back if I happened to miss him. A few days before my delivery day, Jon had called & left me a message that I thought was going to turn out bad...when it started by saying that the machine I placed a deposit on was completely unavailable...however! They upgraded me to the newest version of that machine FOR THE SAME PRICE. Might I also add, they again price-matched the machine to Best Buy with no hesitation (even though I requested it AFTER I had placed my deposit). The 2 gentleman that delivered the machine & took away the old one were again very friendly. They had delivered my kitchen appliances about a year ago & they remembered me. One of them is named Mike, I did not get the name of the other. They both gave me great advice from personal experience & they made sure I didn't have any questions prior to leaving. Sorry, guys, that I didn't have a bulkhead! They didn't complain :) I am hoping my old dryer holds out for a while, but sometime next year I will buy a new one from Baron's! read more

We have used this Barons twice now in the last five years. We purchased a refrigerator a few years ago and most recently a luxury stove. The reason we will be back is for our dishwasher are the sales people. We did our homework and knew what we wanted when we came in. Their pricing is competitive, delivery good and everything for us has been seamless both times. I would only recommend Baron's if you want damaged appliances. I ordered an oven back in August (about a month ago). The item was scheduled for delivery and prior to being loaded on the truck for delivery I was called and told that the oven was damaged. I declined the order and went back to the store. They initially offered me a floor model which was also damaged. I declined and they ordered me a similar but different model. When that item arrived today, it again was damaged. When I spoke with the plumber sent by Baron's to install the oven, he was concerned about internal damage to the gas line so I again declined delivery. When I went back to the store I met sale rep Jon. I said I wanted to work with them and was told I could either cancel the order or take a 4th try. When I asked how we make it right, I was met with contempt and I decided to just cancel the order. Stay away from Baron's. Their customer service is woefully inadequate and you're better off going somewhere else. read more

My live-in companion and I, in the market for a new washer, happened into Major Brands on our way to Lowes. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly gentleman named Tim who showed us what they offered, explained the various features in a professional manner, and genuinely seemed more interested in satisfying us than just making a sale. When I mentioned that I wanted to check out Lowes he offered to match their price. Overall, I found him to be a pleasure to deal with. I was equally impressed with the two gentlemen who did the delivery. On time... friendly... polite! And... the washer is great too! read more

I'd never purchase an appliance from Barons. Mainly due to the company who installs the appliance. My neighbor paid $250 to have the dishwasher installed. The company didn't have the $6.00 adapter and left her without completing the job. The install company told her to call a plumber, $100 to come and see what is needed to complete the job and another $100 plus to complete the job that had already been paid for. Plus she would have to wait 8 weeks. I the neighbor completed the job within 45 minutes and that includes the trip to the hardware store. I'll be sure to share the shady work that goes on there and please be aware of Barons shady company they deal with. read more

Went to Baron's in Concord over the weekend to pick out appliances for a remodel in Lincoln, NH. Was promptly greeted by Adam Jardine who walked us through the store assisting us on our selections to remodel our kitchen. Adam wasn't pushy and having done some homework ahead of time was able to take us to our preferred choices to talk pro's and con's. Didn't try to upsell us, just helped us make the right choices. Picked out a range, range hood, refrigerator, microwave, wine fridge and washer/dryer stack. We were in and out in 1/2 hour. Easiest shopping experience we have ever had! I wanted a no frills top loader because I had an expensive front loader that stunk and crapped out quickly and I couldn't see making that mistake again. Unlike EVERY other store that sold appliances, they a top loader and it was inexpensive and they didn't try to pressure me. Just friendly old school service. Very disappointed in this store! I called on 06/15/2022 and spoke with Hunter. I explained my problem with their recommended appliance repair service, Reliable Appliance Service. He patiently listened and was helpful & polite. He said his manager, Mike, would not be in until the next day. He said that either her or Mike would call me back and address my concerns. Today is 06/23/2022 and I still have had no call. I tried several times to call the Concord store and only get in the electronic answering circle but never have a human answer the call. I have purchased 2 washers, a dryer, a freezer, a range in the pass two years for Baron's, I have multiple houses. The only communication I received concerning my concern was a snide, reply from the repair company signed by Baron's Major Brands. I have been advised by an electrician that it is not safe to use the oven clean feature of this range as the surrounding counter, cabinets and their contents get too hot & could combust. I have had self-cleaning ranges since 1967 and have never had this problem. They all exhaust from the left but I have never had the exterior of the range get so hot that it melts anything plastic near it. Suggestion was either move the range to use as a free standing range away from all combustible materials or not use the clean setting to automatically clean. Therefore, you have lost a faithful customer. I just purchased a new dishwasher but defeatedly not from your company. I would encourage other shoppers to ask many questions about their appliance purchase, fire codes, safety features and hire your own repair company. P.S. I love my new appliances. They live up to everything Jon (Concord, NH Store) told us and more. We remodeled our home and bought all new appliances for the kitchen. I am also very happy with Rodney our service person through major Brands. We did have some issues with our dishwasher the first week we had it. IT WAS NOT Major Brands fault. He had everything fixed in about 20 minutes and it all runs great. He has done our repairs for years on other Major Brand Products and frankly he is the reason I stick with this store. He is awesome and can fix anything. I also loved our sales rep Jon. This is the first time I have worked with him. He is worth driving to Concord. He really listened to me and understood exactly what I wanted and he made it happen- and at a realistic price! read more

TLDR: bait & switch or just bad customer relations. A few weeks ago, I looked at a chest freezer in-store, and was told it could be delivered for free if we decided to buy, just call the store and order. This weekend, I went to order it online via the Barron's website. The price was $309. The site had some banners saying "free shipping over $399", but no indication of the charges. I went ahead and put the item in my cart, still says "Delivery: $0". I put in my zip code. No change. I put in credit card info, no change. I shrug and figure that there's a deal of some kind going on on that particular item, especially since the in-store sales person said it would be delivered free as well. I check out. An hour or so later I receive a call from an in-store sales person in the Concord store, confirming my order and letting me know that shipping would be $79. I informed him that I'd checked out on the website and it said "Delivery: $0" and I'd like that honored. He argued. I held firm that it was not my fault (or, admittedly, his fault) that the site was giving wrong information, but regardless, the right thing to do was honor the pricing I'd checked out with (which I have a screenshot of). We went back and forth a bit--I remained polite albeit uncooperative. He eventually hung up on me, though not before promising to have a manager call me today (a weekday). No manager has called. I've had excellent luck and excellent customer service from Lowe's, including having them honor sales prices post-sale if the item was initially out of stock, friendly replacement of an item that failed shortly after purchase, and offers to deliver items for free when the site stated they were in stock in store and they in fact were not. I only went elsewhere this time because I wanted this item sooner than Lowe's could get it in stock. Guess I'll be waiting. read more

Lacks customer service. Took 6 months to get my appliances. I understand due to covid. Not one time did they reach out to me during that whole time with an update. I had to contact them. I called one time and the guy said oh your dishwasher is in we can schedule that. Then they called about the fridge. They just said ok they'll be delivered June 5. Two men show up and drop them off and leave. No install. I'm like what? I call them and they said oh another team will come out and install. Nice if they had told me that! After they left not one word from anyone. No hey how is everything? No thanks for buying from us? They don't act like a local hometown business. They don't even deserve one star. They trick you into items based on all the rebates they offer but if something is wrong with the appliance, they rescind the rebates and you don't get your money back. Whatever you do do not fall for their sales trap. There are plenty of other great appliance stores. read more

Not the best experience, sales were okay although salesperson showed a lack of interest considering I was purchasing 3 separate appliances. Delivery, however, was abysmal. The best I can say about their delivery is they showed up during time promised. The delivery was to include unpacking. Both driver and helper seemed put out by my request to unpack the dishwasher. I pointed out where to place it after unpacking and right away was told it couldn't be plugged in (2 pong socket/3 prong plug). I said it is a PORTABLE dishwasher. It needs to be rolled to the sink to operate! At this juncture, I get attitude from the driver. Overall, I found the delivery people rude and incredibly poorly informed. They did take away the packaging, but left a large chunk of styrofoam blowing around the yard. Highly unlikely to be a repeat customer. read more

I bought a refrigerator from this store and I will never do business with them again. They made me take delivery before my house was completed so it was about a month after delivery before I could plug it in. When I plugged it in it didn't work. I called the store and they connected me to service. Took service 3 hours to call me back. Then the told me it would be over a week before anyone could come out and look at it. OVER A WEEK WITH NO FRIG! I asked the store to take it back and they said sorry you've had it more than 7 days so its out of our hands. "Its in the fine print". A brand new refrigerator that didn't work right out the gate and I have to wait until service can fit me in! WTF kind of store is this. Don't do business here very poor customer service af Just an update they finally received the trim they forgot when the delivered the dishwasher. They will not mail it to me I have to pick it up! A very uncoordinated delivery of a refrigerator to my home yesterday. It was supposed to be in the morning so I cleaned out my refrigerator only to learn it was going to be now in the afternoon, So everything has to go back into the refrigerator. The first person to arrive was a man who turned off the water for the icemaker and said he would be back. Instead the delivery man hooked up the icemaker but didn't turn the water back on so I have no ice this morning ... I never heard from the man who turned off the water. Even more annoying is I paid $150 extra to have the icemaker hooked up and continue to get the runaround from baron's appliances. It is hard to make plans when a store has mixed messages, So I spent the entire day taking delivery of the refrigerator but still have no icemaker today. I do NOT recommend Barrons Major Brands for appliances. We bought a Kitchen Aid dishwasher from them in March, 2018. It completely died in January, 2019. One of the selling points was that they had their own service department that was available for any repairs. Well, it took 3 weeks to get them to come out, then another week for the new control board to come in. No dishwasher for a month. Fast forward 9 months and it's broken again. Guess what? 4 weeks wait this time! I went in to talk to the sales people. " Sorry, that's the best we can do. We only have one tech who works on dishwashers". It's still under warranty so I can't call someone else. I called two local appliance repair companies that are certified for Kitchen Aid. They could have been out in 3 days but Barrons wouldn't work with them. read more

Automated messages for about 5 minutes- then someone answered at a store an hour away and could not get me to speak with anyone at the Belmont store. They did not offer to take my number for a callback or display any intertest in getting my business. Complete waste of time. Terrible customer service. I am in the market for a washer\dryer. Went on the website, contact/chat bubble pops up, "we'll text you". They did, had quite a conversation, told them my needs, they asked when I was coming to the Concord store, told them in a few. Well, we got there expecting them to have all my options ready (according to his texts). No one knew anything, sales person was pleasant but was not knowledgeable, and when he asked the other salesman at the counter, he wasn't any help and he completely ignored me when I spoke to him. Was actually very rude. Asked a another question and the original salesman had to go ask someone to get the answer. Waited a bit, then left. The whole texting thing is joke. The "texter" said he was in the concord store training and couldn't wait to see us, but yet no one knew a thing about it. Don't waste your money here. read more

Cudos to the installers of our new wall oven. Polite, efficient and neat during the delivery and installation. They would get 5 stars! The repair division of Baron's, "Reliable" -not so much; good employees, but very poor customer service policies, which we were told, came from the current manager. The customer service we received when purchasing our washer and dryer was great. They took the time to answer all questions. When we received our delivery we were very unhappy with the service we received. The delivery guys rushed to install and when leaving pushed the appliances back to the wall and by doing so the flexible vent to the dryer came off the back of the dryer. Meaning we couldn't use our dryer until the vent was back on (which we had to do). When we called to let Baron's to let them know of this safety concern the sales associate just responded with ok. And then when hanging up laughed. We went with a local nonbox store for the superior customer service. What we didn't realize was that the customer service ended once the purchase had been made. read more

I won't give 1-star because I didn't ultimately buy from them, but 2-stars seems OK based on sales tactics that are as shmarmy as any used-car-salesman. I had a quote in hand good for 14 days, and when I replied in that window to activate the order, they wrote back and made up a reason to raise the rate. I will never shop here again. I bought a dryer, when I called, I asked the dimensions of the dryer. I was told it would fit the space I needed it to fit. That was a lie. When the dryer was delivered, the delivery people tracked snow and mud threw my house. Leaving an awful mess. The dryer was not the dimensions stated to me. It does not fit. When i called and spoke with the manager, Mike, he was rude. I later spoke with the GM and he let me know he had done me a favor by delivering it. Nope!!! Not true, I had to pay for the delivery. I would Not recommend this company to anyone. Save yourself the hassle and shop elsewhere. read more

Dealing with the sales staff and making the purchase of the new stove went well. We had to wait longer than expected to get the stove due to the crazy covid times we live in, but that's to be expected with everything in flux. The issue we had was with the delivery of the stove. The two delivery guys showed up to my house this morning. I went out to the mud room to find one of them let himself into my house without knocking or ringing the doorbell. Without even looking at me, he says one word, "STOVE", and tried to walk past me. I blocked his path and told him to follow me. We got into the kitchen and he set a clip board down on the counter. Again, without looking at me, he said " Sign here". Then he asked if they're supposed to remove the old stove. I said yes. His partner comes inside and the two carry out the old stove. They come back into the house with the new stove and set it down. At this point I've tried to make small talk and of course ask some questions about where the accessories to the new stove are. He completely ignores everything I said to him. Never looked at me, never answered anything. This guy pretended like I wasn't even there and acted like he was irritated to be here. It was unbelievable how over the top miserable this guy was. Finally, in disgust, I walk around the new stove to make sure there wasn't any damage and verify that it had been converted to propane as I had ordered it. I said out loud, more to myself than him, " This was converted to propane, right?" as I looked for the conversion tag. To this he replied, in perfect English, "I don't speak any English" with out looking at me. Despite having spoken perfect English to me when he needed to. I was shocked at how miserable and rude this guy was. I had cash set aside on the counter to give them as a tip. Needless to say, they didn't get it. As the van drove away, I saw the Massachusetts license plate. Which made me realize that Barons must be hiring out of state delivery services. Then I saw all the styrofoam in the driveway they left me to clean up. The last thing I found was when I left for work, I noticed that they had driven the delivery truck out into my lawn at the bottom of my driveway. Not a little. They drove way off the pavement onto the lawn while turning the tires and leaving me with torn up ruts. The worst thing about this is that the terrible out of state delivery company that Sears had used was the reason I started shopping at Barons to begin with over 10 years ago. Now it seems Barons is using the same type of service. I had no problem paying a little extra to shop at Barons when deliveries and service was done from in house people. Now it seems that I may as well shop anywhere. read more

They do what they say they will do, keep track of the details, and follow up to make sure they got it right, which they always do. And someone always picks up the phone promptly, which is rare these days. read more

Fridge died and bought one from Home depot. that deal went wrong and by then I had been without a fridge for over a week. Called Barons told them my situation and they said they could get me the one I wanted in the correct size and have it to me in 4 days. I did have to do some calling to my town because load limits were posted the day after my purchase. Once that was approved I got my fridge on the day specified and the delivery folks acted as if they actually wanted to deliver it. Decided to buy my appliances from Baron's because of their reputation for good service, but my experience has been one of the worst retail experiences I have ever had. I purchased a refrigerator, oven, and microwave in March 2020 from the Salem, NH location. In early June the microwave died. I called the service department and was told it would be about 10 days before anyone could come out to look at it. When the day of the appointment came, they looked at it and put an order in for a part. A week later they came back to install the part, and it didn't work. About 3 weeks after that they came back with a new part, and that wasn't the right part either. I then received a phone call telling me that the part they want to try on the 4th visit is on back-order and they don't know when it will be available. I called the store manager at this point and asked that they replace the microwave. It had been 2 months! The manager told me that he would have someone call me the following week, which did not happen. I contacted corporate, which resulted in the same store manager I had already spoken to calling me back and telling me that we had never spoken! When I explained that we had, he told me that he takes a lot of calls and may have forgotten. The good news is that this time he was able to get a new microwave approved for me. On August 18th the new microwave is installed. My wife was home to receive the delivery. The installation crew installed the microwave, and THEN tell her that it is damaged and she should call the store to see what they will do for us. The door is dinged/dented and you can actually pull a piece right off of it. My wife calls the store now and speaks to the same manager, who tells her that the installation crew should not have installed it damaged. They are completely unwilling to take responsibility for the company they contract with to do their service and installation, which is called Reliable Appliance. I have found them to be very unreliable, however I expect Baron's to take responsibility. Anyway - it's now October and the damaged microwave has not been replaced or fixed. In fact the last correspondence was August 19th when someone contacted us over text message for a manufacturer's ID for the microwave. So this place is an absolute joke. You pay more than Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe's etc., and you don't get anything for it. The service is slow to schedule, ineffective, and if you call the store they tell you they don't handle service issues. I am incredibly disappointed and I would recommend that you avoid Baron's at all cost.
