we have a young man staying with us who is doing an internship in Cleveland. So he occasionally takes the he bus to go back to Cincinnati to see his friends and girlfriend. By car it would be a four hour trip, by bus It's over seven hours.! They stop in Akron and there's a layover, then they go to Columbus and there's another layover. Oh, and he told us that they wash the bus for one hour.! They should wash the bus on their own time not with passengers waiting to get to a destination. I don't know if it is because they're in partnership with or it's just a sucky bus line. But sadly, they hold passengers hostage because they don't know how to be efficient. Sadly, there are no other way, airfare is too expensive between the two cities. it seems they should be regulated by the government, but complaint to the in Ohio might get their attention! read more

The midnight ride from Charleston to Columbus was the unscheduled party bus I did not know I needed. I thought I was going to sleep, but God had other plans. Good vibes all around. This bus stops often with long waits at stops - good if you want snacks or smoke breaks, but not the fastest. Cleaner and more comfortable than Greyhound. Power outlets worked, wifi was bad on one bus but worked on the next one. read more

Absolutely the best company I ever worked for & I still ride with them today. I see a few bad reviews based on sub contracts. When other bus companies can't fulfill their route schedules they sub contract Barons. Also if those companies change the times Barons must comply. read more

They have very rude drivers, particularly the lady who drove from Columbus to Cleveland, Ohio on July 31st, 2025 at 3:25 PM. She was shouting at elderly people and using profanity constantly. She was also yelling at customers about paying cash and other things. This was my worst experience, and I'm never taking Baron again. It was terrible. read more

On 7/20/2025 I had a driver from Buffalo to Akron who was so so disrespectful it was awful, I watched how she talked to the passengers like they were children, then the driver from Akron to Cleveland was just as bad, she tried to charge my husband and I $20 because we had 2 suitcases that went under the bus and 1 small carry on, she was nasty about it, I stated to her "so we can't have a carry on" then she was like "take it on the bus with you, which is what I attended to do in the first place. I can not understand why the two drivers even work for the company as nasty acting as they are. I will never ride the bus again!!!! read more

I was almost ran off the road after one of their drivers cut into my lane while turning unto the highway. If you know how massive these buses are you would know that this is quite scary. Be careful if you go through them. Safe travels if you have this driver. read more

Barons Bus Company is much more then a bus service they are a great company with great employees. I was stuck in Winston Salem due to my greyhound bus being delayed for 3 hours which was going to cause me to miss my connection in Nashville. I saw a Barons Bus at the station talked with the driver and he got me a ticket and on my way. ALso left my watch on the bus during a bus transfer. Sent Baron Bus a note via their website. I got a call from Virgil ( Cleveland office) within 2 hours that my watch had been found and he took the steps to get it back to me. overall very pleased with this company and it shows how they are leaders in the transportation industry. read more

Granted I felt a little anxious after reading the negative reviews here but wanted to balance this out a bit. I had a great experience and this was my first time using this bus line. Cheap, on time, and great ride. I bought my ticket a week in advance and had no trouble using my mobile pass. The driver was a kind soul, making sure everyone knew where they were going, helping a disabled man navigate the aisle, and clear communication throughout, announcing each stop on my 4 hour trip from Detroit to columbus. The bus was clean and quiet. It was a bit chilly on this 48 degree day, as the bus temps fluctuated, but nothing terrible. The bathroom was also clean. Would use again. read more

Horrible service! They cancelled my bus and did not inform me (as per their policy). I arrived at the train station an hour before my bus was scheduled to depart only to find it had been cancelled. They could not offer me any options and left me stranded 5 hours from home in an unfamiliar city. When I reached out about the situation and my ticket, they refused to refund or offer alternatives and then stopped taking calls and responding to their email/ticket service. read more

Barons is a first class bus service with clean & reliable buses. In my 12 years of riding the bus each month I have never had a issue with a Barons bus or a Barons driver. Unlike Greyhound this company is usually always on time unless the weather or a accident causes a delay. I wish Barons had more destination stops like Pittsburgh but maybe one day that will happen. The I-79 bus which runs in WV was a huge help to travelers like myself and the Charleston, WV to Cleveland, OH schedule is a great trip unless the connecting Greyhound bus is late which seems to happen often. Very disappointing bus line. Drivers were irresponsible and decided to mess around instead of sleep so they could not even pick us up from universal at the intended time of 7:30. we had to wait all the way till past 9:45 for our buses, which is more than 2 hours later than the time they were supposed to be here. Their slogan is "ride like royalty", but I feel like a peasant riding on these bus lines. I do not recommend. 0/10 read more

Bought a ticket from Richmond IN to Indianapolis. Was at bus stop waiting outside and watched the bus drive right by me. Didn't stop. I called Barons and they said that the schedule had already started when I bought my ticket. I bought the ticket 3 hours before departure. They said they would work on finding me a ride as I had a flight out of Indianapolis that afternoon. They never called me back and they wouldn't answer when I called them. They only run once a day out of Richmond. I missed my flight and haven't received a refund on my ticket. When you call them they say that when you ride with them you ride like royalty. Royally screwed is more accurate if you are depending on them to take you somewhere. read more

I needed to take a Greyhound from Cleveland to Chicago last week and they apparently have a relationship with Baron Bus out of the same stops. Overall experience was pretty horrifying/disappointing. They cancelled my first ticket and I had to reschedule (at no additional cost thankfully). Bus showed up 10 minutes late so everyone was panicking that it got cancelled again, even station managers at 5 min til departure didn't know where it was or if it was even coming. Greyhound station operators did not clearly state which bus was which and so everyone in line was freaking out and wondering if we were waiting for the correct bus. Driver was rude, yelled at us the minute we got on "STANDING TOO CLOSE, I CAN'T SCAN YOUR TICKET!" "YOU ALL ARE NOT TO TALK LOUDLY ON THE PHONE OR TO EACH OTHER OR I WILL PULL OVER UNTIL YOU QUIET DOWN" "DO NOT SIT IN THE RESERVED SEATS!!" (They were only reserved so she wouldn't have to listen to anybody talk). There were a few people on the bus with me that didn't speak English and she was incredibly impatient with them (they had no idea what she was saying, just knew she was yelling at them which they seemed to interpret as "get off the f'ing bus!" and almost did). Honestly the way she treated the immigrants who are probably struggling enough just to get around via public transportation was the most appalling part. One man from India lost his phone and could hardly communicate with anyone but I let the driver know on my way out, "A man back there lost his phone, he can't speak English but please be patient with him, he's probably going to stay on the bus when everyone leaves to search for it" to which she replied with something akin to "Oh good god, are you f'king kidding me?!" ... just unbelievable. I know people have bad days at struggle to hide it at work but I'd expect someone who has ~50 peoples' lives in her hands to be able to put that aside for a time. She didn't announce stops and wasn't able to help people with their transfers bcuz she didn't seem to know how to interpret their tickets either. And the ride itself was the most jerky, high-speed in heavy traffic areas and then ABRUPT braking, constantly, for the 7.5 hour ride. I am a young and fairly spry person and even my back was aching by the end of it. Plus the seats were this disgusting unwashable carpet and incredibly uncomfortable and I watched a man chewing tobacco and just spitting it everywhere, windows, seats, floor, everywhere. Not blaming Baron for that dude, he was just a weirdo, but didn't make me feel better that the seats were clearly unwashed and disgusting and who knows what other nasty stuff was all over my seat. I made sure to book an actual GREYHOUND for my return trip, I am writing this as I ride. The seats are comfortable, leather that is cleanable (and clean to start), roomier seats, friendly bus driver who drives like he DOESN'T want to kill everyone on board... Never again Baron Bus, never again! Step up your game or look forward to going out of business because that ride was TERRIBLE! read more

Usually OK experience, sometimes not. Today the bus left Akron early before I arrived. A whole bus station full of people confirmed this. Several years ago this happened in Ft. Wayne, similarly, wherein instead of a break or hold time--even though not running late but EARLY, they left immediately. I'm impressed with the cleanliness, safety, and comfort of the bus. The driver was good about enforcing speaker volume and kept the ride quiet. The bus was on time and the price was fair. However, not enough was done about enforcing passengers wearing masks. Some passengers blatantly had a mask not covering mouth or nose and was allowed to board the bus and not told to comply to state law. During this covid era, I would not ride again. read more

Absolutely the WORST company i've ever come across. I bought a ticket online to go from Ann Arbor to Detroit due to an emergency but no where did it state that you had to PRINT the ticket. And so I brought an electronic version of the ticket on my phone since I don't have a printer and we live in 2018. The bus driver told me I had to wait for the next bus and said it should be coming in 10 minutes. I went inside the terminal and the front desk told me it's coming in 3 hours. I ended up calling a friend to drop me to Ann Arbor but when I called Barons Bus Lines requesting refund, they were rude and said I had to mail the ticket to their headquarters and refused to see a digital image of the ticket. Why would I spend money mailing it off to their headquarters when I can just e-mail them it? Afterall we live in 2018. Literally the worst company i've ever dealt with. read more

But no, the Baron web interface was just selling me a Greyhound ticket!! Apparently, it's in the fine print as you book, but I thought I was booking "award winning" service so didn't think to look closely at the fine print. Wish I could give a company negative stars for this one. Got sold a ticket for a stop they no longer support. When calling the Customer Service line the rep we got was really short and rude while I was explaining to her that We had a ticket with X address, and there is no bus here. Apparently, they decided to sell a ticket for a pick-up that they no longer support, Awesome right? I'd stay far away from this company, if it was a worse situation someone could end up stranded or paying more to get somewhere that they already paid to get to. read more

Beginning with Kim in the dispatch/reservation office, she made everything from getting a quote to finalizing details incredible easy. She was very responsive and helpful each time we emailed back and forth. The value for the buses I chartered was excellent, and the service was very good. Our ride in to Ft. Wayne from Chicago was very pleasant. The driver was friendly, and assisted us with our bags. I wish I could say the same for the trip back. The driver was short with us, did not assist us with our bags, and even left a passenger at a random unscheduled stop. Multiple passengers tried to remind him but he refused. The worst part about this? We were not even 20 minutes from a scheduled pickup. read more
