Nice place but, guns aren't good, guns needs a random check for better function, we rented 2 guns and both of them have malfunction issues, they replace the other gun but still have a malfunction issues, customer service needs improvement and training, too expensive for 30 mins. they charge $80. read more

Went yesterday to buy a new hand gun & safe. Waited for the salesman to finish with a customer, but as soon as he was finished, he just walked off - it was obvious we were interested. So we went to the gun counter. We were totally ignored and the guy behind the counter actually asked the guy standing BEHIND us if he needed any help. One star is too much. When you shoot there they take your ID. No big deal however while I was shooting they gave my ID to the wrong person. Kevin failed to practice due diligence and check who's ID/ driver license he is handing out. When he realized this mistake he was very nonchalant, and seemed rather apathetic. Didn't apologize what so ever. He did know, however who he gave my drivers license to and was able to get it back.... He did get the owner/boss to retrieve it. For me however the boss/owner didn't seem at the slightest apologetic nor care about a customers experience. Simple attention to detail would have easily prevented this from happening. How they handled this leads me to believe that this happens more frequently. The apathy told me that they don't care about their customers. My drivers license is my source of income and with out I can't work. This horrible lack of due diligence could've have easily costed my livelihood and to be treated like I was is not how you treat customers ever. read more

They will let u stand around forever. Never acknowledge you. Then I asked to talk about safes. They made fun of me and my dad because I asked to talk about safes and the guy said I don't know how to talk about safes. It was very rude and condescending. I guess talk isn't the ok word to use by their stuck up standards. Basically saying he can only sell them not talk about them. I found a safe I fell in love with. They told me they could get it up my stairs. So I went home and thought about it all weekend. And measure to see if it would fit. I went back today to purchase the safe. Me and my wife stood around for 20 minutes before I had to go get someone for help. Then said I want to buy it and have it delivered upstairs. The guy laughs at me and says. This safe isn't going upstairs. So I told him the 2 rude know it alls I dealt with the first time said it would. Maybe if they weren't so worried about being rude they would know what they are doing and talking about. The first guy I dealt with had dark grey hair and treated me and my dad rude and as soon as I started talking stats he had to go get help because he couldn't answer anything. So he comes back with help and stays there. The only reason he stood there was to argue and throw rude statements. He sure didn't help with anything except ruining my trip in. They said sorry it won't got up the stairs. I said sorry u lost a $2500-$3000 sale. They didn't seem to really care. So unless u know everything there is to know about guns and safes expect to be made fun of. DO NOT EXPECT a HUMBLE sales person. They are to concerned about their ego. Plus they are WAY!!!!! overpriced. I would like to deal local but not for 4-$500 more. This place needs some customer service classes. I bet the owner wouldn't like to hear this is how there customers are treated and that they are losing him money. My dad and wife really disliked the place also. Some of their safes even have damage. If you wanna get your gun loving rocks off, this is a good place to visit. This is where I bought my Springfield XD40. The shooting range here is a little small with only 5 stalls, but if you come in at the right time of day, you'll usually be able to get in. If you have to wait just a little while, then at least there is plenty of guns and supplies to look at while you wait. There prices for the shooting range have gone up in the last year, but are still fairly reasonable. It's only $5 to rent a gun for the range and they have a pretty good selection of models and calibers. You're able to shoot your .22 long rifles at this range and they also have a couple rifles for rental. I haven't really paid much attention to their wall of rifles and shotguns, but their selection of handguns is pretty good. The mainly carry Sig Sauers, Glocks, XDs, HKs, M&Ps, a few Berettas, and a few different models of 1911s. There's also a law enforcement end of the counter that most of us will never get to take advantage of but is still cool to look at. I'm thinking of building an AR here and they have plenty of parts. The staff here are very knowledgeable and have always been able to answer my questions. This is where I do most of my gun supply shopping. The other good thing about this place is it's location on Main St. After a good day of shooting, you have Taqueria Ripon to your left, Ripon Roadhouse right across the street, Pizza Plus a block down and a few other options. Great for relaxing days at the range. Ripon Inn is even right next door for a few drinks (preferrably after, not before you shoot around little metal pieces of death in a confined area). read more

I had a lot of fun here, they have a descent selection of gun rentals, and their amo isn't too expensive. For about $45 one person can get off a box worth of shooting. If you have your own gun and supplies then it is just $15 for lane. Wish I would have known about the place sooner, I would have definitely went somewhat frequently. Several years ago, I purchased a 9 mm Beretta 92 FS here. The price was ok & it's a great pistol. Also a few months ago, I purchased a Henry Golden Boy .22 rifle. It is extremely well made. I enjoy using their indoor range. Their 9 mm ammo is priced a bit high (about $5.00 more per box than another place). I was VERY disappointed a few days ago when I was charged the same price for a low quality ammo ($20.00) and then bought the same at another store for $13.00). They should be fair and charge less for lower quality ammo than the good stuff ! If they had, I'd give them 4 stars & not 3. read more

This was my 2nd time ever at a shooting range and I enjoyed the experience. The staff was friendly and informative. We did have about a 30 min wait for a lane, but it went by pretty fast while we browsed the store. There isn't much supervision, which made me feel a little uncomfortable. No apology, no realization that they misplaced our information . Clueless range receptionist made a Saturday intended to shoot for enjoyment into a waste of a day and gas . Never going back. One more trip in to get an AR and some gunsmith done on a 1911. The gunsmith didnt rush me, answered all my questions- which were many, diagnosed the issue on the spot, and told me it would be done when I pick up my AR in a week. No complaints. I drive by 3 gun shops to get here and am happy that I do. Prices seem reasonable, though some here who have complained about prices should realize that guns are flying out the door at every gun shop and tough for the shops to get. With more customers than guns, I dont expect too much discounting, though this shop did give me a price break on an earlier purchase when I asked for it. read more

I took my husband to Barnwood Arms for his birthday. I must say, Tom and the staff were excellent. The staff provided everything we needed to make our first time at the range a pleasant experience. To top it off, Tom took the time to not only show us how to use the guns, but he explained gun safety, how to teach our son, and what to expect while shooting. I been here 5 times and i only go here cause their is no shooting range in Stockton or else i would stay in my city. The owner is a cool guy and let me rapid fire for a couple of times or maybe he just didn't hear me doing it. I would never buy any gun here or ammunition to dam expensive compared to other shops. Your better off buying stuff online. I like the small inside shooting range the only thing that sucks is if someone next to you is shooting a S&W 500. Good luck cause not even the ear muffs will help you with that and you will be able to feel the vibration also. read more

Anyway, I called to check the prices and times and the girl was very helpful. She even suggested I check out groupon. Andddd wa-la! $49 for two! We arrived and the dude who checked us in was very precise, informative, and funny! Everything was great! Except for the fact that I hid in the corner every time a gun went off lol. Came here to buy a pistol (XD m .45) and long gun (M1a). Craig helped me with the sale and paperwork. He was very helpful and had no attitude (as seen by a lot of firearms dealers). Everything I requested was ordered and I was notified when I could pick up my purchase by a phone call. The staff upon my return was again very helpful, completed my paperwork and even offered to help me get my items to my car. Don't think I'll need another firearm for awhile, but when I do I'll drive the hour to give them my business again. read more

Took my son to the range for the first time. As others have said, it is a little small. I didn't have to wait but there were a lot of people in there in parties of 2-3. This made it a bit crowded. Barnwood has a decent selection. They have an indoor range. Good attractions. But don't expect good or friendly service. I have numerous local friends who are gun enthusiasts that would echo the same thing. Recently I put a deposit on a gun and was told I can get my money back if I changed my mind. I was not told that they would charge 3% if I back out. Three days after making the deposit (over the weekend) I notified them that I need to back out of the purchase. That is when I was told that they would withhold 3% of the deposit. They wrote a check less 3.7 % with no explanation. I didn't do the math until I got home. Interestingly the sales man who made the mistake is the only one I have ever spoke to in this shop who I have been impressed with. It was his boss who did not back him. Possible the owner. Alquist in Turlock is a much better shop. I hope this salesman leaves this shop and goes to work for a more reputable gun shop. It usually flows from the top down. I give this excellent salesman 3 months and he will be like the rest if he doesn't get out of there. read more

I'm in the market for a sporting shotgun and stopped by Barnyard Arms to check out their selection. I've never been in this shop but thought the drive would be worth it based on the photos I saw online of their shop. They seemed to have a really good selection of shotguns. I found the staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They asked me what I was looking for and took their time to show me a variety of shotguns that suited my needs and explained their specific features. They understood that fit is important and gave me plenty of time with each shotgun to see what felt the best and offered pointers. Even after I decided which one I liked the best the staff brought out one more to show me.Short of shooting it, i couldn't have asked for better customer service. Another great thing is that there was no pressure to buy the one I choose on the spot. I like this type of exemplary service, it's the reason I choose to buy at brick and mortar shops. read more

I love this place they treat everyone with respect have great prices on everything and constantly give discounts when possible . Very knowledgeable and none of them pester you or act rude almost like the way restaurant service should be everyone helpful , not of that this is my sale or ignore them someone else already had them taken care of. I dealt with many people here and there customer service is always phenomenal. I can honestly say it was the tipping point of my purchase . Because when you're spending 500 to thousands of dollars or even just a few dollars to protect your investment of a few thousand dollars the least you can get us in customer service every other gun store In the 209 was rude or just lacking in comparison and that's from range to go and purchase the prices.
