I was referred here for treatment when the cold symptoms I had continued to worsen after 10 days. The staff were polite and efficient. The wait time to see the nurse was less than 30 minutes (mind you, this was a Monday morning in late June and not the peak of cold and flu season). The physical examination she conducted was thorough, hands-on, and certainly unlike anything I have experienced in the USA.* At first, the exam seemed too rudimentary to possibly be an effective diagnostic tool, but I was wrong. The nurse also had a significant number of questions to ask, along with inquiring as to how my specialist in Los Angeles had treated these same symptoms on previous occasions. The nurse seemed impressed by what I recounted to her, stating that the diagnostics and treatment my specialist in LA. had administered were rather advanced. Even so, I found her examination and line of questioning impressive. As it turned out, her diagnosis and prognosis were spot on. Even better, this service would have cost me at least 250 US dollars at my physician in Los Angeles, whereas it only cost me 25 pounds in the UK. Based on this one experience, I wouldn't hesitate to come here again. Hours of operation... Monday-Friday 8.00am-8.00pm Saturday-Sunday 10.00am-8.00pm (also Bank Holidays) closed Christmas Day * In America, physicians are reluctant to touch patients unless absolutely necessary, lest they be sued. Friendly nurses! What a relief to walk into an NHS clinic and not be greeted with either a…read moredeathstare, apathetic look, or derision. Those three describe my two previous encounters with the NHS so luckily I haven't been sick much in the last 3 years. Now to be fair, I'm actually a fan of the NHS. Sure I hate paying NI taxes as much as anyone, but I do appreciate not having to pay when I do need to use a hospital. However, I've heard the horror stories and lived in a slight fear that I may shoplift a few germs inadvertently while I'm there due to lower the spectacular conditions that result when you put too many people into too small a space and fail to provide enough funding (which has been spent on fancy ways to blow up caves). This slightly irrational fear is made worse when you are going to a walk-in clinic which in the states would be crammed with coughing, dirty, mostly homeless people who have no private medical insurance to rely on. Luckily, within 30 seconds of walking into the Soho Walk-in Clinic, my fears were put to rest. The receptionists are very friendly and patiently took me through the process of registering and explained the next few steps. The waiting room was quite spacious and turnover fairly high so everyone was spaced several seats apart. A selection of newspapers and magazines (fairly recent) were also provided in case you didn't have a phone or book to keep you occupied. The place was also very clean which is quite a feat when you are catering to sneezing and coughing invalids. After being called in for a quick screening which consisted of a few questions, I was told it would be under an hour before I saw the nurse. I should note that there are only nurses here and not full doctors so if you are seriously ill they will likely have to refer you to one of the full hospitals. However, for most things they are more than capable of diagnosing and dosing you up. About 30 minutes after the screening, I was called in to see a nurse. First off, she was hilarious. I do appreciate it when they give you a bit of banter rather than just rattling off questions in as efficient a manner as possible. While taking my blood pressure we had a bit of a chat about things and she was pretty good with explaining what she was about to do. It was also a fairly educational experience as I learned that I was borderline overdosing on paracetamol (too many Lemsip Max tablets in one day) and that it can have serious consequences like stopping your heart. Fair enough, I will follow the instructions more carefully from now on. I was diagnosed with tonsillitis in about 10 seconds flat and given penicillin right there. I definitely appreciate being dispensed drugs on site as it avoids an annoying trek and wait to Boots when you just want to feel better. My nurse was also good at explaining the importance of following the full 10 day regime despite the fact I'd likely feel fine after 3 days. If she hadn't mentioned it, I would have been very tempted to stop after a few days (I don't like taking pills) but that would have helped push along the development of a penicillin resistant strain which isn't good for anyone. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience and would definitely recommend the Soho Walk-in clinic to everyone. I'll be going there as my first stop next time I'm sick for sure!

Pros None given…read more Cons I think this is one of the worst hospitals ever. The staff is rude whether you have been admitted, are a day patient or an emergency case. The day staff and the night staff are absolutely horrid. The waiting periods are really long and god forbid if you were to get sick on the weekend and be taken to the emergency room. You could be dying in the waiting area but they will tell you to sit there for two hours at least. They even take time to dispense medicines which can take even up to 48 hrs. The toilets are filthy and wards also leave a lot to be desired. There is absolutely no patient doctor relationship because you never see the doctor but instead are surrounded by noisy rude nurses. God help us from this shambles of a hospital.

I have been recommended to Harley Street Health Centre by one of my colleagues. So I booked an appointment with Dr Abood. The consult lasted an hour, and included a chat about my symptoms, when they occur, ear & nose check, blood pressure and also had blood taken. Personally, even though I am in my mid 30's,I am really scarred of the needle, but the nurse was amazing. She distracted me by keeping my mind busy chatting, while she was drawing blood. Offered me water & advised to wait for couple of minutes before I leave. The whole experience was 5*. No rushing or looking at you like you are crazy because your palms & sole is itching at night, weirdly enough. So the next day I got my results. It was not as bad as I thought. Iron & Vitamin D deficiency. Something that can be fixed easily. So glad I went to the clinic, as my nose bleeds and itchyness have been haunting me for years. I am now taking my supplements & feeling much better. Will have another blood test done probably in 3-4 months.

You can make an appointment or walk-in. Walked in on a Saturday and didn't have to wait long to see a doctor. It was such a relief find this place since my Primary Care is closed on the weekends and I had just flew in from a trip out of the country feeling terrible and didn't think I could wait until Monday to see someone. Office is very clean and staff is friendly. The doctor was professional and courteous. He was also very efficient in the tests he needed and I was out the door with diagnosis and antibiotics in hand in a very short time. Paid a total of £160 for the visit and week's worth of antibiotics. The convenience and relief gained over the weekend was entirely worth the money! Can't put a price on feeling better.

Over the last month I have spent a fair bit of time in and out of various hospitals in London. I…read moream thinking of doing a series. So let's start with the one closest to home. Whilst this isn't the first hospital I have ever been in, in London, it was the first to offer me overnight hospitality and they keep asking me to come back for more. I get the feeling the staff like having me around, or my health issue is more serious than it feels. The staff here are great. Really friendly and welcoming. When I checked in to A&E I was glad to have a friend with me to kill the time but I was seen by triage within 20 minutes and then only had to wait a few hours (it wasn't obviously serious) before being seen by a doctor. The A&E doctor was a nice guy, though I didn't particularly approve of the way he stuck needles into me, it hurt quite a lot (it was in the hand) and since I hate needles anyway (even writing this is making me feel faint) I was throwing up quite a lot. The anti-sickness drugs took effect swiftly and when the blood test results came back I was given a room in major injuries within 5 minutes and a private room on a ward within a couple of hours. Everyone from the porters to the nurses and phlebotomists were amazing, always willing to chat and make you feel included in their lives. My friends tell me the ward doctor was very attractive. I was a little busy being ill to really judge but I can vouch for my friends good tastes. I was impressed with the range of tests they gave me and very grateful that with the NHS I didn't have to pay for any of this. The food on the ward was, average at best however the canteen area was filled with choices and all of which looked delicious. I can recommend this hospital, especially because there is a therapy dog who comes to visit every day and there are lots of local groups who visit the elderly and palliative care patients to ensure that everyone has a visitor during the visiting hours. Whilst there wasn't a tv or a phone in my room the time was passed pleasantly. Ambulatory care is also a very welcoming place to visit as well as just a wonderful phrase to repeat. The staff take good care of you here. If you get truly bored you can always count the pictures of cats scattered around the hospital.

Never Again! I am…read moregoing to write about the worst experience I have even had at the hands of a Doctor in a Hospital. The Whittington Hospital to be precise. His name is Dr. Joquau Kravvas from Thesalonica Greece, and he possesses the worst kind of Greek Male Mysogony that exists. I was greeted with "Why are you wearing two jumpers"? It is very cold possible the coldest day of the year I replied. He explained nothing about the treatment I had gathered from the nurse that he was about to remove some red skin that could possible develop into a cancerous growth, in the event it did not. Dr. Brarrack joked with the nurse that he would 'Have To Remove Half Of My Face' due to what he could see. I certainly hoped not. He drilled ferociously for half an hour. It was relentless. I hope I would;d not be scarred for life. The nurse said the scar would bleed for a week or so. It went on to bleed for over six weeks, I had to visit the A&E of UCHL during the Xmas break as it bled soo much throughout the dressing and I woke up to blood on my pillow for six weeks. This was embarrassing as I was staying with relatives for some of the holiday, Three months late the scar is still there. I wrote an honest review of my treatment and mentioned his name. He had it removed. But I doubt that Yelp will allow vanity struck doctors like him to remove an honest review. I like the nurses in the Dermatology dept. and I like the Italian coffee and soup stand that is parked in front of the Whittington, but I never want to set eyes on Joqau Barrack as long as I live. Their hours are 4pm-9pm and they quickly sent over a confirmation for a 5 pm slot. Upon arriving, I filled out one form and was in to see Dr Marwah within 5 minutes. She was great, spent the time to see what was wrong, checked vitals and was very personable. The pharmacy is part of the clinic so I picked up my prescription without needing to stop elsewhere. The Dr, the receptionist, and the cashier were all great. The location is in an excellent neighborhood and is well lit. I'd highly recommend this clinic to both London residents or travelers.
