I have been recommended to Harley Street Health Centre by one of my colleagues. So I booked an appointment with Dr Abood. The consult lasted an hour, and included a chat about my symptoms, when they occur, ear & nose check, blood pressure and also had blood taken. Personally, even though I am in my mid 30's,I am really scarred of the needle, but the nurse was amazing. She distracted me by keeping my mind busy chatting, while she was drawing blood. Offered me water & advised to wait for couple of minutes before I leave. The whole experience was 5*. No rushing or looking at you like you are crazy because your palms & sole is itching at night, weirdly enough. So the next day I got my results. It was not as bad as I thought. Iron & Vitamin D deficiency. Something that can be fixed easily. So glad I went to the clinic, as my nose bleeds and itchyness have been haunting me for years. I am now taking my supplements & feeling much better. Will have another blood test done probably in 3-4 months.

I have worked with Dr. Gerlis for decades and his clinical astuteness--his ability to "connect the…read moredots" so that the patient understands the biology of their presenting complaint--is a wonderful gift to any patient. At the same time he builds up a "developing history" of the patient (over years) revealing underlying somatic patterns that are hugely important in making not only differential diagnoses but in providing clinical advice or referral. Knowing that one can email such a person and hear back within an hour (usually it is within 15 minutes) is healing in itself and leads both doctor and patient to come to reasoned and thoughtful decisions during a time that might be stressful. And it is fine that a clinic now offers in person drop in appointments. A model from the 1960's (when drop in's began) which is now revived and renewed in the 21st century. Great stuff.

I went to work though and searched GPs near my office and found these guys. I booked online and was seen super quickly. Apparently they only started here quite recently but it's such a good idea. Yes you have to pay £44 but that's better than not getting seen at all by my NHS GP. Anyone needs to see a doctor go here. Also, whilst the GP practice is NHS the dentists is subsidised private. Fortunately my dealings with both aspects of the centres has been fairly limited. Still, whenever I have been to see the doctor they have all had a wonderful manner. The receptionists are less pleasant, though this seems to generally be the case with doctor's. Who knows, perhaps they are supposed to act as some sort of gauntlet. The receptionists at the dentists on the other hand are lovely, as is the dentist himself. Whilst, having having your mouth prodded with sticks and things is never going to be a blast, as dentists go this place is pretty good. In so far as one can choose ones medical care this place deserves choosing.

Waiting room is spacious and clean, facilities are up to par. I was lucky in getting an appointment quickly; normally a few days' notice is required. Very happy so far that this is my local practice!
