18 February 2019 - Inside the Barnes and Nobles bookstore at Crocker Park mall in Westlake.

I had the day off work today (18 Feb. 2019) for President's day so I decided to drive to beautiful Crocker Park. BOOKS -- I love Barnes & Nobles and always have. It's great to browse through all the books while sitting and people watching. I came to work on my laptop at the cafe. GIFTS - There are endless gift ideas to choose from here including candles, cute journals, handbags, magnets, natural soaps, and other little intricacies. CAFE -- There is a cafe inside that sells Starbucks coffee and Harney & Sons tea. I'm a tea drinker so I ordered the Ginger tea. I experienced great service from the woman behind the counter. To sweeten your drinks, they have sugar and honey on the side where the napkins are located. The cafe also sells sandwiches, soups, and pastries (bagels, croissants, cookies, etc). I arrived at noon and the cafe was quiet. Around 3pm when I was leaving, it became more noisy. FREE WIFI - There is free wifi here. Connect to "BNWifi" and then you'll be all set. There are bathrooms on the first floor. The parking garage is free; otherwise, you can park outside but you will need to pay at the meter. The parking garage is just a short walk away. - 27 total reviews in 2019. - 237 total Yelp reviews. - Reviewed on 18 February 2019.

Though it was crazy busy because of the book signing and wait times were longer than normal it was a very pleasant visit. The cafe were offering free samples to those waiting in long lines. They were very attentive to all the guests.

I have never bought anything from this Barnes and Noble. I like going in here with my girlfriend to read all the cool books and touch all the other Knick knacks they have. There is a perfect look out point upstairs which is good for people watching. Unfortunately, it is in the kids section so if the store could be rearranged, that would be great. However, the puppets need to stay. You can take advantage of the Starbucks to get free water as well

No wifi? Weird. They have a cafe inside. Thought they'd have wifi. Went down to Starbucks and got my coffee and got work done.

I could easily spend hours here, and did, last Sunday! What gorgeous decor, layout, vibes and selection they have! Workers were really friendly as well. The prices of books were high though--no discount at all for new books. Fine to support local but this is why the library will still always be my favorite. What I was confused about is how the books are organized because it is not by author nor by used/new. I'm pretty sure new books were placed right next to pre-owned ones on the same shelf... I did enjoy all the gift and merchandise displays. They were all set up in a way that looked irresistible to buy! My BF bought this photography coffee table book he was really excited about and I got a children's novel illustrated by Jon Klassen (big fans!).

The people working there were very knowledgeable and friendly. The book collection alone is incredible. There is multiple room rooms and the sanctuary holds very old and important books and is definitely interesting to look around in. They also have a cute gift shop that has very cool gifts and handmade items as well. Totally a great find if you are looking for something fun to do, or just looking for a few books.

It has everything you need and more than enough impulse buys! During fall it smells pleasantly like the loveliest fall scents! I loved everything about! I visited during a book crawl (ah yes, it's a thing and I loved everything about it too!!!) INVENTORY: There are plenty of categories at this store that you'd normally find at corporate book stores. Some categories really impressed me. There is a shelf of foreign language books. There is a kids section with books and plushies. There are plenty of souvenirs that I really appreciated. Especially loved Freida McFadden game and book nook! There are multiple shelf of used book with pretty good finds. The associates at the store shared that they tend to look at local book clubs' reads and stock the books. I easily found a book that I couldn't find anywhere locally (indie store or large retailers). MY BUYS: My friend and I browsed this store for awhile. I wish that I had hours to browse that day. We both purchased a popular thriller at full price (market price). We felt really good about supporting local. SERVICE: The service was really amazing! My friend and I asked about potential international reads for our international book club. It was a very obscure question. Within minutes the associates provided us with a huge list of potential books. I've never seen such accommodation and efficiency! We were able to also ask a lot about the store and inventory. We were treated so nicely. The service is simply incredible! MEMBERSHIPS: There are a few memberships and savings available at this store. Free membership allows you to sign up for free, then you get $5 off when you spend $100. The paid membership is $20 for one year. You will get 10% during every purchase. I'll look into memberships during my next visit. I really loved The Walls of Books! Love the selection! Love the service! Love that I can find local book club reads! I will be back to shop here for book club finds and winter book hoarding. I very highly recommend visiting this store!

They have a few tables for you to sit and sip your coffee or read a book. I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable the books were. If you buy 3 books you get 70% off. So I basically ended up getting 3 books for the price of 1. Not to mention, these books are all brand new. I liked the books in the "Staff Picks" area by the front. They don't have as vast as a selection as a Barnes and Noble, so if you are looking for a specific book this isn't the place for you. But if you like to peruse the shelves and browse around like I do, I would definitely give this bookstore a visit. It's great to shop local!

The owner opened the store after spending some of her career as a translator (German-English). It feels important that all of us become more globally minded, so I deeply appreciate that this store is part of our literary city culture. AMBIANCE: The bookstore has simple and clean aesthetic. One open space and cozy reading nook toward the back of the store. The store is located in a historic building so you'll enjoy years of architecture. The interior is pleasantly modern despite historical surroundings. INVENTORY: The inventory is continuously growing. The bookstore focuses on adding the classics to the shelves and books published within the last few years. Accessories include cards, puzzles, and other souvenirs. Inventory is conveniently organized by country. Original languages include Russian German, French, Norwegian, Portuguese, Polish, Persian, Farsi, Finnish, Catalan, Czech Slovak, Chinese, Japanese, Estonian, Finnish, and more. All inventory is translated and is in English. You won't find books in your native language. There are also nooks by genre - graphic novels, speculative fiction, mystery, crime, poetry, early reader, and more. It's easy to find whatever your TBR contains. I purchased Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment for $20. It's my favorite Russian literary classic. Books vary in price, some are even $5-10, which is so budget friendly! I'm an avid international literature reader as a hobby and as a member of international reads book club. We read books in translation. It's always hard to find non-depressing literature (not war, not political crisis, and historical heavy content). This store has lighter literature from various countries so you can read for entertainment. That's very hard to achieve! SERVICE: The owner of the store is very friendly. What I love the most if her drive and ideas to improve the store, which I learned about during my brief visit. That and she's very open to recommending books and genres. Ask her about your next read, she's phenomenal at recommendations. EVENTS: The store hosts periodic events for the community such as readings and book clubs. Check them out especially if you live downtown! You can also host your own events in this space! MEMBERSHIPS: The bookstore offers memberships that can be purchased at a price of $5 to $50 per month. I attached a photo with all the tiers. They offer access to events, opportunity to host your own events, Clevo Books swag, and community feel. I enjoyed my first visit to Clevo Books! I love international literature so it's nice to find a place in the city that caters to this passion. I don't have to support big retailers any longer, can just shop local for global books! Not all cities have this option, we should feel so lucky. Whether you're a downtown resident, visitor from the suburbs or out of town, you'll find your next interesting read here. Stop in!
