This Barnes & Noble has been in St. Augustine for decades and has always been well-run with friendly employees. The science fiction and fantasy sections have a nice variety of new and classic books, with numerous media tie-in titles for the Star Wars and Star Trek lines. The tabletop RPG section carries D&D 5E, dice and gaming accessories. The store is not huge but has a large newsstand filling one wall, which is usually my primary reason for being there. Look for the Last Chance section to find discounted books, games and other products. It's to the left when you enter the store, not far from checkout. The Nook ebook readers sold near the entrance offer an unexpected benefit -- a free ebook every Friday. read more

I love all Barnes & Nobles, well all the ones I have bern to so far. I will say I love the Cafe coffee is delicious and so much better than starbucks. Staff is do friendly, kind, even though I am not in as often as before the staff still knows me. That is wonders for me. Book selection is wonderful, plenty of seating. All is swell here! read more

Keeping in mind that 3 stars is A-OK, this location was A-OK! We popped in to look for an exclusive Funko POP that was only being sold the weekend we were in the area. They had them right up front and had several of them (LOTR POP - pictured). Husband was super happy as it was a missing 'chase' one for his collection. Otherwise, the store was very clean and well organized. As usual the discounted books are closer to the front of the store by the register bays. The kids section was nice and I really liked the break out section for Dr. Seuss books. Super cute! They also had some fun 'indestructible' paper books that looked like a really good idea for young ones learning about books, but not ready for shreddable paper (i.e. our baby). Overall: B+ As expected for the chain and a definite A-OK place to pop in for some books / magazines / POPs / or coffee! read more

I love Barnes & Noble so so much and this one especially. There are TONS of book options, a lot of different varieties, and a lot of kids books too. If you're like me, I really like reading/ collecting manga and they have a lot of options! They also have a lot of cute toys, figures, and art books. They even have puzzles, Lego sets, vinyl records, record players, and even birthday/ celebration cards!! The cafe is also great, given its Starbucks, but the employees are very nice and the food is really good too. I love coming here with my family to eat dinner or study! Some of their foods options I don't even see in most regular Starbucks stores which just makes coming to Barns & Nobles even better. Although, the only complaint I would have is it can be quite expensive. You can definitely find most of their stuff for cheaper either online or in another store. In the cafe there is a mural of authors sitting in a cafe. Out of 14 authors depicted, there is only one woman. Why is that? I pointed this out to the people in the coffee shop but nobody cared. I'm not especially political but this really is an egregious oversight. The Barnes & Noble cafe is good, the service is good, and of course I love the bookstore. The only 2 requests I have are: Please amend the mural to include more women. There are unlabeled women painted on it, so how difficult would it be to slap up a few names? 2) Please bring back the comfortable chairs that used to be tucked here and there around the store. read more

Best desserts at any cafe I've been to, especially if you have a sweet tooth like me. Only main downside is the ONE outlet they have available in the cafe area. Made the mistake coming there with a dead computer and seeing the one outlet already taken by 2 other people. They also don't accept Starbucks rewards. read more

But seriously if you're going to open a chain bookstore and kill all the locally owned mom and pop bookstores, at least carry a bigger selection. Since there aren't as many stand-alone Starbucks in St. Augustine I went to Barnes & Noble to grab a grande flat white - my favorite coffee at all times of the day. But, it was not to be - the coffee tasted burnt which could only mean OLD espresso was used. Blech and ugh... it was as terrible, as was my sisters tall straight Pikes coffee. OMG - nothing is worse than going to a Starbucks - no matter where it is - and getting CRAP. read more

Update: have been coming to this store for a while and have had a few instances with rude staff. Today was the last straw where I nearly turned around and returned everything to go somewhere else. Instead I'll just be complaining to corporate. Cashier: Betty M is the name on the receipt. I stand on line (only person waiting and she's the only cashier) she's chatting to some people. Patiently waiting, no big deal. They leave, she talks briefly to a coworker who came up to the counter. Again no big deal. In this period of time, I get a phone call. I'm still waiting so I answer. She finishes chatting so I proceed upward, handing her my products and saying hello. She does not reply. Then she asks if I have a membership, to which I replied no. Then she asked for my phone number, I repeated "no sorry I don't have a membership." She then rolls her eyes at me and asks if I want to purchase one for $25. "No, thank you" said politely by me. Finished ringing up and I pay. She again rolls her eyes and pulls the receipts out of the machine quite aggressively. "Thank you, have a nice day!" I say as I collect the bag to leave. Again, met with an eye roll. Thanks for ruining an previous 4star review Betty! Guess I'll stick to spending my money on Amazon where it's cheaper anyway. read more

Well, it's a Barnes and Noble, and I guess they're not very different no matter which store you go to. I think this particular Barnes and Noble may be a bit busier, due to the fact that it may be the only place in town to get Starbucks coffee. Every time I've been in this building, the coffee house area has been jam-packed with folks lining up to get their Starbucks, while the hipster and too-cool-for-the-room folks sit and chat and read their books and magazines. Amazing selection of books, all organized into categories, and while this store boasts an impressive collection, their website is where they offer EVERYTHING. However you will definitely be able to find something good to read here, not to mention an amazing selection of magazines and newspapers. The store was very clean, well-stocked, and there were plenty of employees milling about, able to help anyone who needed it. Checkout was actually pretty quick, and the cashier was very friendly. I think this is the go-to place in St. Augustine if you need books, and as far as I know the only place to get your Starbucks fix. If you're looking for coffee, prepare for a wait, if you're looking for books or magazines, you're definitely in the right spot. read more

Hard as a rock croissant, probably months old. Coffee barely caffeinated...paid for an extra shot and still takes like milk.

The coffee and staff has top customer service skills. Very relaxing and the store had the book I was looking for.

The Internet here is soooo slow, it's just aggravating. I think an expensive cup of coffee warrants decent Internet speed.
