The ambiance is amazing and the layout and decorations are constantly changing, giving it a new feeling every time. However, I went in yesterday and I was so disappointed that out of all the workers, only one was wearing a mask (and she was wearing it below her chin, so not even wearing it). Even the owner's daughter was not wearing one. Athens has a mask mandate, and in the midst of COVID it was EXTREMELY disappointing to see Epiphany not taking the health of both their workers and customers seriously. I'm not going to take stars off because I want people to support this local business, but I hope the owners see this and make a mask mandate inside their store. I know for me personally I will not be back in until masks are required for employees.

They do have a lot of incoming items every week so I encourage everyone to go back frequently. The folks there are helpful and will hand you a basket and help you bring your books to the front when you are ready to check out. Low Yo Yo is a brief walk away from the historic 40 Watt Club and near plenty of dining and drinking choices. While a relatively small store, it's packed wall to wall with a lot of records! I was particularly impressed by the great selection of catalogue titles they have--I always have a running list of records I'm looking for and often these are not present in my local shops. Many, if not most, of what I looked for WAS present here. Often a new title, shrinkwrapped and priced accordingly--but fairly/within market range. They did have some original pressings and used items, but overall their used items seem to be vastly outranked by their new items. However, I can't quite be sure of that as beyond the row of newly arrived used items all others are filed with their new counterparts. I like the overall organization of this store--by genre, by artist, and often within an artist's section all of the solo and sideprojects of a group are present and accounted for. There's also a pretty sweet local artists section (including REM) near the register. Friendly service, cool shop, would definitely make this a regular stop if I lived in the area.

It's my kind of museum. Wuxtry Records never disappoints, and it's another Athens staple; they have been there since 1976. When I was at UGA, I swear my roommate/bestie and I went here weekly. It's right in the heart of downtown Athens, and it offers everything you would need and expect from an independently owned record shop that has survived many decades. Great collections and variety, while also extremely and intentionally organized. Some of my favorite bands have come out of the Classic City that is Athens, GA such as R.E.M, The B-52's, and Widespread Panic, so it only makes sense that there would be such an epic and well-known record shop here. If you know Athens, especially downtown, you know parking is limited and they do ticket if you don't pay the meters, so definitely recommend going during the week and earlier in the day. I was so happy to stop in my last visit in town, and it was even more nostalgic and sweet because I had my best friend and old college roommate with me.

Overall, based on what I saw in the store, this is a metaphysical business. I saw great looking handmade jewelry, knick knacks for the home, incense, tantra-related items, stones and other merchandise. A couple of the things that caught my eye because I have an interest in them are the crystals and sage. Margo has a big selection of stones and crystals. People burn sage (in a ritual called smudging) to clear away negativity. I've smudged my place a few times with a bundle of burning white sage, and I know it helped because I felt a calmness and contentment after I got done. Margo sells various types of sage that customers can smudge their spaces and their selves to eliminate negativity and increase positivity. I have also interest in crystals, of which Margo has a big selection. The two types of crystals that I have are black obsidian and clear quartz crystals, both of which have protective properties. One of clear quartz's benefits is enhancing mental clarity. It can help with emotional stability, and it's popular in meditation and restorative work. It's also often used for manifestation and can help create more focus and clarity around a desire. It is a protective stone and can be used to amplify psychic abilities. I have white quartz crystals near my front door to dispel any negative energies entering my home, and on my nightstand to amplify the effect of the black obsidian crystal that I keep near it. One of the most popular uses of black obsidian is to create a shield of protection to ward off negative or harmful energies. I wear a black obsidian bracelet to help absorb negativity that I may encounter. I also have black obsidian crystals in the four corners of my condo to help ward off negative and harmful energies. Does it work? I know they do. I like that throughout the store are handwritten descriptions and explanations either on or near the crystals. These are great for customers who are interested in incorporating crystals into their lives. However, customers who buy them should also learn how to use the crystals (the best placement for them, how to energize them, how to cleanse them, etc.) after they're purchased to learn how to put them to best use for themselves. One thing that I'd like to point out when I was in the store was that there were way too many strong scents concentrated in one specific area on the left side of the store. I took a couple of regular breaths in and the scents hit me hard. Think of the strong and multiple scents affecting your nose as being similar to strong and multiple noises affecting your ears. When I smelled the odors together I got dizzy, realized that scents were affecting me and immediately walked to the other side of the store. I was fine after breathing in non-scented air. I didn't get a good look at the object(s) that caused my dizziness. It would've been good to know so that I could avoid a similar situation in the future.
