When we finally had the chance to connect, Christine said that she would reach out to me with an initial proposal based on what we've discussed within 2 weeks. Well, a month went by and after multiple follow ups and no proposal was sent, I decided to book another caterer. It was funny because I specifically remember during our call, Christine had even made a comment that she has not worked at my wedding venue probably because they were probably "too expensive" for some people. I honestly think it's their lack of communication and their inability to follow up because if one can't communicate well planning wise, how can a potential client see them being able to handle a whole wedding? My fiance and I set aside a huge budget for food as it was so important to us for our guest to have exquisite food and we would have definitely book them regardless of cost, but unfortunately, Bluewater missed out. I totally understand having a busy season, but there were multiple people from Bluewater Kitchen CC'd on the emails that I had sent, and no one responded. Other vendors that were booked for my wedding also had a busy season but I had no problems working with them around that. I'm a patient person so if someone had responded and said that they are in the middle of busy season and that they would follow up with me (and actually follow up) afterwards, I would have totally fine with it. I would not recommend them to friends or family unfortunately. Hopefully, they figure out a better process around this.

The food was a huge hit--charcuterie and crab cakes for appetizers, followed by a buffet that included a fresh mixed-greens salad with berries and feta, tender beef with horseradish mousse, chicken piccata with lemon and capers, au gratin potatoes, green beans almondine, and saffron rice. Everything was flavorful, well timed, and beautifully presented. What really stood out was working with Lisa Sheppard and her team. They were friendly, professional, and incredibly calm throughout the entire process. It made such a difference on a busy wedding day to know we were in good hands. Unique Soul Cuisine catered breakfast for a UNCF event I attended and everything I tasted was just…read moredivine! Everyone -- and I do mean EVERYONE -- raved about the sweet potato pancakes! They were so good that I must have eaten 6 or 7 of them over the course of two days-- and get this, I don't even like pancakes! But these were soooooo good and tasted light years better than any pancake I've ever tasted in life. Oh, and the scrambled egg dish (with fresh mushrooms, tomatoes, etc.) was deeeeeeeeelish! And this is coming from someone who doesn't generally eat eggs, but rather only egg whites. I had almost decided to pass on the dish on the sheer principle of things, but I'm so glad I gave it a try. I ended up having seconds. And thirds... Add to all this the perfectly crisped bacon and fresh fruit platter -- and this was a perfect breakfast! Everything was fresh, healthy, and well-seasoned -- and it somehow managed to be both a light and hearty breakfast that didn't leave you in a food coma for the rest of the morning. In sum, I am highly impressed with Unique Soul Cuisine and wish I had come across this caterer a week ago when I was booking caterers for a family reunion event that I'm hosting this summer. We selected a more picnic oriented menu with sandwiches and salads. We didn't even try the food -probably a mistake, but we don't regret it, tasted wonderful. We felt a little uneasy about the spotty communication and had to keep reminding ourselves that they are professionals and know what they are doing. Which they are. The day of staff were invisible. We kept talking afterward about how we barely saw them doing all the magic that they did. This is much to their compliment. Everything went so smoothly and we weren't pestered with questions all day...for once! I also want to note that they served us through incredible circumstances. We got married the day after 2million people lost power in that storm. We didn't have electricity at the venue, they didn't have it at Legends, BUT they pulled it off with the integrity of their business upheld and furthered. They were maybe 10 minutes late, but so was everyone else.
