I am reposting my review after it was removed by Yelp, which cited that I did not pay for the service directly. However, the policy link provided does not specify that only the individual who made the payment is permitted to leave a review--only that the reviewer must have participated in the experience, which I did. Love at First Bite catered one of my company's holiday events. While I approached the event with an open mind, several concerns arose that warrant attention. Many of the buffet serving pans were visibly unclean, and multiple supervisors commented on how challenging Lisa was to work with. Her demeanor toward her staff was unprofessional, lacking in both courtesy and leadership. Additionally, much of the produce appeared far from fresh, and instead of actively managing the event, Lisa spent a significant portion of time engaged in conversation. That said, there were a few highlights. The mac and cheese balls, pasta, and desserts were genuinely enjoyable and demonstrated potential. I hope this feedback is received constructively. I believe Love at First Bite has the capacity to deliver exceptional service, but growth requires a willingness to acknowledge and learn from shortcomings, rather than attempting to dismiss or conceal them. This business, with its rather whimsical name is operated by Lisa, the owner. However, there is nothing whimsical about the business which Lisa runs like a tight ship. I have enjoyed her catering on two occasions. The first was a large family dinner in a house in memory of a family member who had just passed. The food was superb, the waitresses were super-efficient in their whiter than white shirts, and the whole meal handled with sensitivity. The second was hors d'oeuvres served in conjunction with a charity concert. The spread of food which greeted guests as they arrived looked mouth watering, but it didn't stay that way for very long as guests tucked in before relaxing to listen to the evening's performance while her staff constantly replenished the platters and cleared away the used plates. Lisa is a very hands-on operator, and insists on prior meetings at the venues to check the facilities and ensure the events run smoothly. And her prices to me for the concert evening (I was only a guest at the family dinner) seemed very reasonable. I shall definitely be ready for more love at first bite which will be a private film premier early next year. read more

Lisa and her team were excellent. I gave her a beautiful but tough venue (due to the temperature ( November)) and really not much time. The event came off beautifully. Gorgeous displays of food, flowers , pumpkins and drinks. But the best part was the communication of owner Lisa Sheppard. Lisa called me back immediately. Despite being busy she constantly updated me, gave and took suggestions. It was held at RedGate Farms pavilion in Bluemont Va (Christine was my contact point , and this venue is a hidden gem) on a beautiful horse farm. The pavilion is a small fieldstone 3 sided structure. We had expected about 70 people and maybe a few less came. I'm the mother of the bride and had so many compliments. The food was delicious and varied . Lisa and her crew have catered for two major party events for me now and I can say I absolutely would never use anyone else! She is a dream to work with! She personalized both menus to accommodate preferences and food allergies without sacrificing flavor or options. The portions are generous and she makes sure you get your money's worth. Her crew are professional and stay on top of everything. From start to finish, they work seamlessly. Lisa has such a talent for making her table displays fit the mood and theme of the event. She really goes above and beyond, and so many guests compliment the spread each time. Love at First Bite catered for a bridal shower I hosted last month. Lisa was wonderful to work with, very friendly and responsive. Not only was the food delicious, but the presentation was beautiful, and the guests raved about it all. Lisa even provided a few extra dishes for us! Pricing was very reasonable and she even delivered and set up everything for us, even though it was just finger foods and not a full service luncheon. Even with a challenging venue and Covid restrictions in place, the event was wonderful, warm and a fitting tribute to my Sister.
