Best haircut and grooming my dog has had! They were so nice and so good with my Dog. I will definitely be back!

TERRIBLE!! I scheduled a grooming appointment for my dog and was originally quoted $55. There were communication issues from the start. I was first told to come in on Friday, then later told the appointment was actually for Saturday. On the day of the appointment, no one showed up and I received no communication. I even sent a message that morning asking whether I should bring my dog at a different time and never received a response. After waiting most of the day, I finally reached out expressing my disappointment. Several hours later, I received an apology stating that I had been left off the schedule and that the groomer had experienced a migraine that morning. While I understand emergencies happen, a simple text or call would have prevented a lot of frustration. To make up for the inconvenience, I was initially offered $20 off a service that I was told normally costs $70, bringing the total to $50. However, I reminded them that I had originally been quoted $55, which would make the discounted price $35. After I pointed this out, I never received a response. Everyone makes mistakes, but the lack of communication, scheduling confusion, no-show appointment, and failure to follow up afterward left me with a very disappointing experience. Definitely DO NOT recommend. read more

I had a really bad experience here. The service was disappointing from start to finish. I showed the groomer a picture of exactly how I wanted my dog to look, and the result was completely different. it looked nothing like my dog. When I picked my dog up, he was extremely scared and not acting like himself, which was very concerning to me as a pet owner. You can tell when something isn't right, and this didn't sit well at all. I will not be coming back. Please be careful if you're considering bringing your pet here. read more

Everything was great. He comes out looking wonderful he would shake really bad but after the first time he doesn't. He actually likes it there the service is always great read more

This is WALL-E, I've taken him to so many grooming salons and each one has told me that he get aggressive/ overwhelmed and he's just bad to groom, which always would make me super sad because he's such a sweet dog he's never shown any signs of being aggressive to any other dogs. So I was expecting the same comments when I picked him up! To my surprise they send me a text of him playing with their dog Nala, and updating me that he's been a god boy so far and he's just a very curious dog. Which made me so happy to hear! Because I never ever get good comments for him, over all I'm glad I took him he came out looking very handsome and smelling good! I appreciate groomers who don't just shave off a dog because he has a little matting and I could tell they took their time and brushed out his mats he had, over a 10/10 experience I will be back! read more

Really happy with the service. My dog can be a bit anxious, but the staff handled him calmly and professionally. The haircut was clean, even, and exactly what I asked for. You can tell they care about the dogs and the quality of their work. Highly recommend. read more

I really put my thought into leaving this review cause I've been bringing my border collie/husky here for the past couple years and they've always met my needs and handled my dog with care my last visit I asked for a hair cut thinking they would just give her a trim since she is a long haired border collie /husky but instead they shaved her all the way down and left the fur around her face so botched and un even and doing my research and seeing how her hair is growing back I really think being 'professionals' my dog should not have been shaved down huskies are not meant be shaved down it really sucks that I had so much trust with this company to be let down and now my dogs fur will never be the same this is a before and after read more

Super unreliable. Offer great services when they actually show up to the appointments but not worth the lack of communication.

I recently took my dog to Barking Good, expecting a professional grooming service. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. When I picked up my dog, I was shocked to see that he still looked dirty. He was covered in dandruff, and his fur was full of loose, cut hair, as if they hadn't even attempted to bathe him properly. It was clear they hadn't blow-dried him either, which is a basic part of any grooming service. To make matters worse, when my boyfriend picked him up, his t-shirt ended up covered in dirt and fur from our dog. My car was so dirty with fur and dandruff I was so upset. This was not what I expected after paying for a grooming session. It seemed like they skipped the bathing and drying steps entirely. They didn't clean his ears either. Honestly, I asked for a full grooming service and it looked like they only gave him a cut. I understand that grooming can be challenging, especially if a dog is particularly dirty, but leaving him in such a state is unacceptable. I am very disappointed with the service at Barking Good and will not be returning. I hope they improve their standards for the sake of other pet owners and their furry friends. A waste of 85 dollars because I had to go home and bathe him myself with the help of my amazing boyfriend who suffered the whole car ride. If I could give this review 0 stars I would. Really disappointed. read more

They never show up to the appointments THEY schedule. Unfortunately, they did a great job when they actually did show up but this business has the most unreliable groomer I have ever dealt with. Will be finding a new place to take my business, so disappointed. read more

I brought-in Salem (my one year old female Belgian Malinois rescue, who I've had for a month) for a groom on Saturday, 17 September 2022. Before bringing in Salem, she was, in my opinion, overly licking and gnawing herself (Before you come screaming at me - I'm changing her flea and tick medicine) and her Vet found some superficial dermatitis so prescribed her a 10-day cefpoderm Rx as her treatment. Salem and I were professionally and happily greeted, we discussed Salem's licking, gnawing, and her superficial dermatitis on her haunches, given a summary of what to expect (the products they'll be using, how long her visit would take, that they would call me when Salem was ready, etc...), and was completely satisfied with Salem's grooming and care. When I picked up Salem, she was her normal self; which made me happy, because part of this visit was to gauge her separation anxiety and how she'd react to being left with someone else. Since the visit, Salem's not licking nor gnawing herself as frequently; maybe 2-3 times per day since the visit. So long as Barking Good maintains this level of professionalism, Salem and I are definitely coming back. read more

Took my boy Oso in for his first time at Barking Good in for a wash and a haircut and I gotta say definitely 10/10 recommended we were greeted by smiles by Matthew and his wife. Oso ran straight in like he was comfortable there. Service was quick and easy in and out drop off no wait time. They definitely paid attention to detail and trim some areas (underbelly) great job!! This place has went downhill. The kid that runs it never shows up. He has flaked on us the last 3 times. If you sit and have coffee next door you see people with their animals wait and wait and ask when he's going to open. Last time I helped an older woman who left her husband at home to bring her dog and he flaked on her too. Skip this place. Absolute crap. read more

Went to drop off my friend's dog for her 8am appointment. Takes about 15 minutes to drive there from my home. I arrived at 7:55 and waited until 8:10. There was a sign on the door saying return at 9:00. I called. No answer and no room to leave a message. It said I could SMS. I texted. No response. I drove back home. I tried calling before heading back out. No answer. I arrived back there at 9:05 where I met up with a woman. She had a 9:00 appointment. I shared that while I don't live far it's disappointing that they are closed for our appointment. She shared that she does live far from this business. She said when she was 5 minutes from arriving she got a text saying her appointment had been rescheduled to Sunday. The message contained no reason for said action. I got back home at 9:30. Close to this time my neighbor whose dog I had transported got a cancellation text. A hour and a half after the scheduled appointment. Life takes up our time. I don't like wasting my time. read more

Very nice people but truly unprofessional. Was stood up for a grooming appointment months back, no call no text until hours after my scheduled appt. Due to an emergency. In desperation I decided to give them another chance. Had an appt yesterday, sent text 30 min before the appt to reconfirm. Received text asking to reschedule for today at 9:30am due to yet another emergency. Arrived as agreed, only to again be stood up! I'm not one to leave reviews but this could not be helped read more

I have two pit mixes with short hair that are fairly easy to clean, trimming their nails is another story. We tried our luck with our neighborhood groomer and in the last two years they have been very accommodating and understanding of their differences and needs. We are very happy with them and our dogs don't mind (as much) when it's bath time. Turn around time is usually a little over an hour. I would recommend this business to anyone, especially the ones that haven't tried using a groomer. They are patient and will work with you on getting your dog calm and actually not dread bath/grooming time. Wether it's scheduling you at a less busy time, or recommending certain shampoos or using your own products. Prices are competitive especially since it's a little more attention then you would get with a big chain business. read more

By far THE BEST dog salon I have taken my dogs to! From commercial or boutique salon they have been the most accommodating in every aspect. I prefer to support local businesses and neighbors. So happy to have Brew and Jason in our community they do their best to work around schedules to be able to take my pups in. One of my dog is very apprehensive to new people but trusted Jason right away! She usually urinates in disdain which is embarrassing but not once with Barking Good. Took her in for her holiday floof and poof and Bree gave us a handmade collar bow . Aside from the great grooming, Its the little details that matter. I'll be a loyal client. read more

We just recently moved from Oak View and needed a new groomer in Oxnard. Made the appointment yesterday. We called the groomer upon arrival (curbside drop-off and masked). We brought our nervous pup (120lb dog) & she immediately had an affinity for Martha, groomer! Within the hour, our pup was ready for pickup. We appreciated the fast service! Our dog had never been this clean, ever! She has a black & white coat... she is sparkling clean! Our biggest concern were her ears and Martha paid special attention. Thank you Barking Good!!! We are very pleased with the excellent service. read more

They also did not express Mitzi's anal glands and now they're impacted. My poor baby, they took my $60 and did NOTHING but a half-assed haircut. What a horrible way to treat a puppy dog! They're nasty, terrible people. They're getting the vet's bill! read more

Don't ever take your dog to this place unless you want your dog to look like a giant rat. My beautiful golden doodle was completely shaved from nose to tail. Patches of hair remained all over the places. The workers are friendly but have no clue in how to "groom" the dog. read more

I took our 18 pound rescue & 100 pound golden retriever to Barking Good last Monday. I had reached out to Happy Hounds but they were closed & recommended I call their sister property, Barking Good in Port Hueneme. They did a fabulous job on both the dogs, bathing, trimming, & combing. Also trimmed nails & expressed glands on the little one. I picked them up & they smelled great & had cute bandanas on! I would highly recommend this facility & will be using their services again in the future. Also, this was all done with no/little contact service. They came to the car to get the dogs & then brought them out when finished. Superb customer service! Thank you! read more

I love the work they did on my baby. She REALLY needed a haircut and I wasn't sure where to take her but my cousin recommended this place and I set up an appointment which was rather quickly and I don't regret it. She looked so happy and was so darn cute. Definitely bringing her back. read more

Matt does great work on our dogs when he's there. However, he is very unprofessional with scheduling. Once again, this deja vu for me. Scheduled an appointment a week in advance and again the groomers didn't show up for work. I received no advanced notice that my pet's appointment couldn't be accomodated. You'd think under this circumstance this business would have taken the time to provide some sort of notice. Didn't even get a call back after leaving 2 messages. No one answers the phone, so don't bother calling their phone number. It appears since separating from Happy Hound this operation is in chaotic, disorganized and disorderly condition. Suggest moving onto Happy Hound. I have a Great Dane and she is legit an asshole!! She's hard to handle and doesn't enjoy bath time. She can stink something awful and it's hard to give her a good bath. Took her into barking good cause it's just down the street from the house. It was super easy to get her an appointment. They were done with her in like 30 mins. No joke! I was hoping they would take longer just so I didn't need to be around her. Hey I need a break too!! Lol!! She didn't let them cut her nails but I knew she wouldn't cause again, she is an asshole!! I will definitely take her back for a bath! read more

It's been two times now that they schedule an appointment and confirm it and then not show up on the day of. What kind of business schedules appointments and does not notify customers that their business will be closed? It's absolutely ridiculous and so unprofessional, also looks like I'm not the only one this has happened to. Do not take your dog here, save your time and money and find someone more reliable. They also never leave my dogs super clean or cut well, their hair is uneven, don't clean the sanitary area, and dont trim their nails. The only reason we were ever customers was because there's literally no other decent groomer in Oxnard or Ventura area. But they just got on the bad list too. Awful. read more
