I met Michaela before Om when I was looking for training for my first dog, my 2 year old corgi/dachshund who wasn't a fan of dogs, and quite honestly, didn't consider himself to even be a dog. Ozzie was a fantastic dog, and Michaela helped him realize that potential! Fast forward a few years when I ended up with a 1-2 year old pittbull/mastiff who was all dog. Big dog. Strong dog. Loud dog. Stubborn dog. I was frantically searching for Michaela and couldn't find her, until I stumbled upon the Om Obedience raffle package at the Yogathon. I put all my tickets into this raffle, and didn't win, but I ended up a winner because I was reconnected with Michaela and was at the very beginning of my most rewarding dog journey (so far!) Overwhelmed, but determined not to give up on Taz, I began a lifelong commitment to training my dog(s). Many (many) classes and pack walks later, Taz earned his Canine Good Citizen certification and even made it to Advanced Canine Good Citizen: accomplishments I never thought we'd see. Taz changed me in so many amazing, positive ways, and I never would have seen that growth in myself if I hadn't had the support and commitment of Michaela and Om Obedience. When I decided to get a puppy (I always said I'd NEVER get a puppy), Om was my first call! Knowing I knew nothing about puppies, I booked myself a training session before I even met Onyx. Michaela laid out the basics and prepared me for my baby piranha (and the how-tos on housetraining!) I was very pleased to have a plan in place for my very first puppy, and a plan for introducing him to my now senior dog Taz, and maintaining a peaceful home throughout this transition. Onyx came home and we spent a few weeks bonding and doing all the things Michaela recommended, and then we started classes! I was so excited to start this new chapter with my puppy :) Onyx started puppy preschool with Maddie, and continued on to elementary with his new bff. Maddie is a great addition to the Om team, and to my life as well! To date, Onyx has completed MANY Om Obedience classes with Maddie and Michaela and has attended countless pack walks. He gets complements on his stellar behavior everywhere we go! I couldn't be more proud of my baby boy. And now Onyx is the best big brother ever to his human sister Hazel. Once again, Michaela was my first call when I found out I was pregnant, and I booked a few in home training sessions before the baby came to prepare Taz and Onyx for her arrival. Sadly, Taz crossed the rainbow bridge before Hazel's arrival. Luckily, Taz and Michaela did an amazing job preparing Onyx for his big brother role and he has been great throughout these life changing transitions. We made it through the 4th trimester, the 3 am feedings, the waiting for mom to finish feeding baby before she lets Onyx out to pee.. We've perfected the baby/puppy walk with the stroller or baby carrier. We've gone on some pretty awesome family nature walks. We excel at relaxing on the couch and sharing space! Right now we are working through the transition of Mom going back to work and using all of our tools in our toolbox: dog walkers, doggie daycare, baby/daddy/Onyx walks, playtime with the neighbor dog friends. Up next is another round of intermediate training for Onyx, with Mom wearing a Hazel! Our family 5 year plan is to add another Rottweiler to our pack, and you know who's going to be the first to know when that happens ;)

I highly recommend Om Obedience and would encourage anyone to sign their dog up for their classes and lessons! I first started working with Om Obedience in the summer of 2020 when I adopted a pandemic puppy, Delilah. Michaela and Maddie helped work with her as she grew up and went through over energetic periods and fear periods. We stayed consistent with the classes through adolescence and not only did Delilah LOVE THEM, but we also always saw improvements and learned a lot. We then worked with Michaela on private lessons before welcoming a human baby. Michaela helped desensitize Delilah to the baby noises and toys, practiced stroller walks, gave us so many tips and tricks to safely have baby and dog coexist, and was incredibly patient and persistent with getting Delilah to jump in the car and go up and down our basement stairs (two things we couldn't get her to do in the 2+ years we had Delilah). When the baby arrived, we felt so prepared with Delilah and Delilah has been great at being a big sister and isn't anxious at all with the change.. which if you know Delilah, that is incredible!

We made an appointment for 9 am, brought her in, but it was 11:30 and we still hadn't heard anything. In our previous experience, it does not take nearly as long. I called around 11:30 and was told that something had happened with my dog, she may have pulled her nails off in the cage, was bleeding and probably needed to be seen at the vet. Now I'm no dog care expert, but I would think that if a new dog had injured themselves at my establishment, I'd probably give the owners a call and let them know. Not here at Heritage, they just let the dog bleed until the owner calls. I drove right over and to my surprise, my dog walked out actively bleeding with no attempt at any care or bandages. I was told she was mostly fine but supervised and there was DEFINITELY nothing sharp in the cage. That struck me as odd because I hadn't asked about the cage at all. Whatever caused this injury either took a long time and should have been noticed sooner or there was something sharp in the cage. On the 5 minute drive home, my dog bled all over the back seats of my car. Once home I bandaged her as best as I could and drove over to the emergency vet. I apologized for my dog bleeding all over their lobby and they took her right back. She did not rip her nails out at all, she had lacerations on both front paws. They put her on antibiotics, painkillers, and tranquilizers. I had to go back later that night because she bled through the bandages the first time. After 5 trips to the vet, almost 2 weeks, and countless hours driving back and forth and in the waiting room, the bandages are finally off. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that they paid for the vet bill that their neglect caused in the first place. These pictures are after the bandages came off. You make the appt for the live interview, to see if your 3yr old dog is a good fit for the daycare and if the daycare is good fit for your 3yr old dog. You walk in and everything looks ok. Your stopped at the front desk. The play area where your 3yr old will spend all of his days cannot be seen. After all your questions are answered and your feeling comfortable leaving your 3yr old at the daycare, you ask what you think would be a common question. When can I set up a time to view the area where my 3yr old will be for the next 8hrs, 3x per day? The area I'm paying for? You're then directed to go online and look at Facebook pics of the area.... I did that, but seeing the Statue of Liberty on a Facebook post is not quite the same as seeing her in person. And personally I'm just not comfortable leaving my 3yr old in a place that will not allow anyone EVER to see the space they are paying for. Suspect. Paws in Play has a policy that no owner can view the play area, EVER. Not off-peak time, not at closing, not before opening, not even Holidays. All of which I offered as possible viewing times. Suspect. Why you ask? They say to protect the dogs. Ok. Why do the dogs need protection from Humans? Paws in Play interview their dogs. I assume the dogs they accept are socialized to interact with not only each other but other humans? I wouldn't take my dog to a dog park if I knew he bit other dogs or humans. Ok policy is policy. I asked the owner if he would be willing to call me at a time where there are NO dogs at the daycare for me to view the space. And he still refused. Referred me to Facebook. Suspect. This policy and the owners refusal to accommodate what I believe is a reasonable request, while still honoring the spirit of the policy got me way too suspicious about what was back there in the play area where my dog would be. The possible condition of the area. I couldn't in good conscious leave my 3yr old at Area 51. Suspect. I would caution anyone who is thinking about Paws in Play. Anyone considering this daycare for their loved one would have to answer the question. How could you trust a daycare that forbids you to EVER see the space in person that 1. You are paying for. 2. That your leaving your loved one for days and hours. Are we putting our loved ones in Fort Knox? What is so bad back there that you don't want anyone to see? Suspect. As a business owner myself, I shared with the owner that I had called 6 other daycares just to see if this policy was common in that line of business. What I found? All 6 understood not letting the public in the area when there are a "ton" of dogs. But to not EVER be able to tour the facility? Even after hours "sounded weird". The owner harshly replied "I don't care what other people think" And from that reply it also appears that Paws in Play struggles with professionalism as well. Suspect. Sorry, I just don't trust Paws in Play. My dog is my child. I could never leave him in a space that the owner is adamant with me NEVER seeing.. Suspect.
