Our dog LOVES Bark Lodge and literally pulls us into the facility. He comes home happy, but tired and "Tired puppies are good puppies!"

We have been going to this vet at least since 2008 and have paid them thousands of dollars on…read moremedication and treatment for our pets over the many years since. But these people treat you like a complete stranger, or even worse, like an enemy. Especially if you are a walk in, but even if you have an appointment. Here's my latest story. On my most recent visit, I waited about an hour and 10 minutes to be called back just for two simple shots that took the vet less than two minutes to administer. I was grateful that the male doctor and the assistant, Johnna, who actually did the work were extremely pleasant. They also were very quick and efficient in administering the medications. But before I got to this point, the desk clerk told me they had to give the dog an annual exam before administering the shots. The first time I ever heard this in all these years. I am not even sure its true or required by law. So I was not happy especially after waiting nearly two hours to be told that I would have to pay even more than for just the two shots, which is all the notice I received in the mail told me they needed - not an annual exam. I repeat, I was not told I would need an annual exam and that's totally wrong to not let the customer know beforehand as I am guessing this costs way more than the two shots combined. So to tell both sides of the story, yes, I let both the desk clerk and the assistant manager know I was not happy. And I was pretty adamant because this is not the first time I have let these two know I have been less than happy with their service, although I must admit the past several visits have gone without a hitch, likely since I didn't have to deal with them. I reminded them that that I was a paying customer for all these years and that I expected to be treated as such. Their answer? If I wasn't happy, there were six other vets in the area I could go to. In my entire professional life, I have never directed a customer to a competitor, no matter how upset they were. Fixing the problem is the way to deal with the problem, not sending money out the door to a competitor? I mean who in the business world does that? Then they let me know they were going to mail me my paperwork. To be totally transparent, these are the main people that are not pleasant to deal with at this practice. The rest of the staff I have dealt with and who have dealt with me have been great. So I along with the other decent staff there are not the problem. Also worth noting, there was a tension between the decent staff and these two individuals who I have to say are the most totally anti-customer centric people I have ever run into at a service establishment in this area. You could feel the tension in the air as if the nicer staff were trying to diffuse the situation and act as a buffer between me and these other two people, who quite honestly act like you work for them and not the other way around. None of this testimony is good for a local business. I don't care how many customers they have and how many give them positive reviews - there are plenty of bad reviews to go around on this vet. A key takeaway? Their way of dealing with loyal customers, at least those who might express dissatisfaction, is totally unprofessional.

About 2 years ago the atmosphere changed. The vets and techs for the most part are ok. Some are way more thorough than others. Wish they were all thorough. The big issue though is the front desk staff. They are rude and so far from being professional it's ridiculous. They stand around talking/gossiping. On two occasions they have actually made jokes about a customer who had just walked out after paying. They do this loud enough that both the cat and dog waiting rooms can hear. I have heard about customers as well as what techs they like and don't like, who is cute and who is ugly, weekend plans, and how much they or others are drinking. None of it is appropriate talk in areas where customers are. I feel like I'm watching and listening to a group of middle schoolers. If you happen to walk up to check in or out plan on waiting until they finish talking about whatever it is they are talking about. They won't start a new topic but they will finish this one before they acknowledge you. I'm in the process of looking for a new vet. I can't trust that the staff is focused enough to make sure my animals (and their records) are being taken care of as well as I expect them to be. I gave them a chance to fix the issues but it hasn't happened. You would think with the number of reviews that are negative towards the front staff that something would be done, but excuses are the only response. At some point the excuses need to stop. I won't be here to see if they do.
