We've used Bark Life for boarding our pets multiple times this year, and we- and our cats and dog- have always had a good experience. The pet accommodations are comfy and give them plenty of space. I appreciate that I can be that person and look at my dog on a webcam and see how he's doing. They staff are kind to the animals and responsive to requests; once our dog was in a "penthouse" which comes equipped with a human bed, but he is under the impression that Good Boys do not go on human beds, so when I saw him on the floor they sweetly brought him a dog bed, too. Our cats are happier after boarding than they were in the past after being left home alone during travels. They also have daycare services on weekdays, which is handy for long work days or just for socialization. I appreciate that they do a temperament test to make sure your pet will have fun and be safe with others. We have never needed to use most of the grooming services, but when our dog's had a bath there they seemed to do a good job. They also have a decent selection of good quality pet food, toys, etc. We'll continue to be loyal customers. read more

In the beginning, when owners were hands on, this was a great place. But when you go to a store to purchase dog food, and inquire the guy at the front, (with obnoxious ear lobes), about the popularity, and then ingredients. No kidding, he looked the bag and read them off! I looked at guy, and said "I guess not" and walked out. Definitely has gone done hill in a hurry, maybe spread too thin, and hire probably uneducated individuals in vet med, anybody that walks in off the street. Absolute disaster. Be careful when choosing this groomer! Took the Teacup Yorkie in for grooming. When I arrived to pick him up, he was so scared that he pee'd on the floor there. He was limping too. He was shaking in fear and, when I got him back home, he hid wherever he could find a hiding spot. For 2 days he limped in pain. I am absolutely certain some sort of abuse took place. I called to schedule an appointment to review the security footage. The owner had me come in to review the video of which, he only showed me 30 seconds of video where the view of the groomer was obstructed. And all that you could see was him spinning on the floor in fear and that's when he pee'd the first time. That's all the video that they showed and they stated that they had no other video that was available. He didn't eat for a full day because he was hiding in fear. An absolutely traumatizing experience for the dog! Beware when you take your pet here. Other reviews on Google also state how things are just going downhill for people who have been coming in regularly due to lack of experience from the groomers. I'm absolutely mortified and am struggling to find a closing to this review aside from be careful with your pet! My pet is family and this is the worst experience I've had. Period. read more

My recent experience at Barklife St Pete Grooming is beyond anything i can describe in proper words. If i can give zero stars - i would. I have been a client here at barklife with my 2 Alaskan Malamutes for a many years now at both the old and new St Pete location. My dogs are long hair wooly coated malamutes. I have always had quite good experiences here with the groomers, and in fact, followed one of the groomers to her new location because she did such a good job. My dogs have recently been back here with another groomer who also did an excellent job, but when i went for another appt, i found out she had been fired. I was referred to another groomer, " who has 12 years experience and knows how to groom long hair, double coated dogs".....my dogs were there a few weeks ago for a simple brush out and trim. And they looked nice. I brought them back on Tuesday for baths and full grooms with the same groomer- who i now thought had a good idea of what to do. After going over everything, explaining what i would like done, and explaining on my larger thicker coated dog, to trim her "all over", as i have described to every other groomer for the 9 years i have owned her...ie.- scissor trim longer spots and clean her up. And trim down her belly area shorter but do not shave...as i said. But do not make her look like a Samoyed, which has a shorter rounder look to their coats. When leaving, i said, please text me if you have any questions. 5 hours later, i come to pick her up, and SHE CUT OFF ALL OF MY DOGS HAIR. SHE CLIPPER CUT HER COAT WITH A 1" BLADE. THEY GAVE HER A DOODLE CUT, OR A PUPPY CUT. SHE CUT OFF HER MANE, HER FACE, AROUND HER NECK!! THEY CUT OFF ALL OF HER GUARD HAIR!! JUST CHOPPED UP HER BEAUTIFUL COAT. And if that wasnt bad enough, the job is uneven and unbelievably unprofessional. When i completely lost it after seeing her, the explanation was - oh i misunderstood. You said to trim her all over. OMG. You misunderstood?? Malamutes cannot have their hair cut off. Especially their guard coat. It is both their heat and cool protection. My dog is white with pink skin. We live in Florida. She can easily overheat and sunburn. They have not only ruined her coat - but jeopardized her health and well being. But they claimed to know and groom many double coated dogs. After speaking to the general manager, who actually tried initially to defend her groomer, or frankly whatever 3 year old got a hold of a clipper and cut up my dog, she offered a refund on just the one dog-not both.... A refund? ALL OF MY MONEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REFUNDED AND THEN SOME....OH, and a half price groom on my next groom for the one dog. There are notes and notes from every groom my dogs have had here. NEVER would one note claim to clipper cut my dog. THIS IS TRULY UNBELIEVABLE. My dogs coat will take many months to two years to fully grow back. And now i have to worry about her health everyday by simply going for a walk or to the dog park. How in the world did this happen? I trusted these people to be professionals. Review photos and tell me how my dog was given back to me in this condition and did anyone at Bark LIfe think this was acceptable???? read more

I have been a customer at Bark Life for years. I recommended their grooming department to my friend since they have always done good work on my grandmother's dog. When she was making the appointment the person over the phone was incompetent and seemed very confused on how to book an appointment. Fast forward to the actual appointment. This picture below is a picture of my friends dog after the grooming. His hair cut is awful. The hair cut is choppy, uneven, and too short. I have been a customer at Bark Life for over 10 years. All I can say is that if you want your fur baby taken care of right, this is the spot!!! They have always groomed my dogs perfectly. When there is a grooming mishap, as can sometimes happen when working with animals and trimming the hair on their face or paws, they always make it right. I don't travel much, but my relatives use the resort when they travel for their 2 dogs. The staff is top notch and cares for the dog like they are their own. The rooms and facility are clean. Report cards every night, and if you get one of the bigger rooms there are cameras to check in on your pup. Overall it's not hard to see why everyone raves about this place. My suggestion is to NOT have your dog groomed here, especially with Missy!! I showed her pictures of how I Always get My Yorkie groomed, explained a few times because she didn't either seem to listen or care, definitely not the customer service personality I expected. Pics will show how My Yorkie looked & what I showed her. His hair was Sooo chopped up & parts of his body almost hairless, to the point he shakes & it's 80degree weather. We've always keep hair around ears long just trimmed. Although She left the hair on his butt area long which is Not good for #2! He also can't NOT stand on his left leg/paw now. Now have a Vet appointment to find out what happened. I called Bark Life the Same day asking for a Manager, was told by Evenlyn, "Manger would call within 24 hrs", that was on Feb 25th. This is March 2nd, Still NO Call! Definitely not what you expect after paying $66. I could careless about the money, more concerned about how he was treated by a groomer who could careless or incompetent. My dog is very picky picky so it's great to find a local store that carries the only food he eats in such a large variety! We always find healthy treats and toys too! About Us: My husband and I are military family with over 20 years of service. We are as real as you, and are leaving this review to share our unfortunate experience. The Facts: This review is regarding the Barklife Grooming Gervices and NOT the merchandise on the shelves. We've been a repeat customer to Barklife for more than 2.5 years now, purchasing pet supplies, food, and grooming services regularly. We have file that lists instructions for our dogs haircuts. We also verbally inform again face to face each time before we leave. Today, (August 20th, 2018) We brought our little dog to Barklife as we normally do to get groomed. Upon our return, we found the following problems (unexpected and unhappy one's): 1. My dog walked out with the wrong collar and leash. 2. My dogs hair on top of his head was not trimmed (still the same length as when when he was dropped off) 3. And the worst... My dogs whiskers and eyebrows were hacked off. Something I specifically addressed face to face when I dropped him off. Furthermore, it's also in his file for their own convenient professional reference. When we came to pick him up and found theses problems the groomer provided excuses instead of owning up. Furthermore, we would've expected a phone call from the groomer, to tell us how he/she accidental hacked off an eyebrow or whisker, and then to ask me how we wanted to proceed. BUT, there was no call. We had no choice. To make matters worse, it wasn't just our dogs eyebrows, it was also his whiskers... two separate parts of his body. Our dog is 9 years old and and his whiskers and eyebrows have never been shaved. Conclusion: This all boils down to a lack of attention to detail. It also displays the serious decline in quality of grooming services at Barklife. For those who use the grooming services at Barklife, buyer beware. You may have an unexpected (and unhappy) surprise when you walk back in to collect your dog. Then, brace yourself for excuses. We are deeply saddened and disappointed, especially since we have been a longtime repeat customer who has referred many others to their store. read more

Best haircut my pooch has ever had!! My dog Dally needed a new groomer and based on my previous experience at Bark Life, friendly staff, clean environment, I chose to bring her here. I called to set up an appointment with Karen after reading a previous Yelp review and she was booked a week out, good sign! Karen spent time with me reviewing what I wanted specifically and said to return in 1.5 hours because she didn't want to rush. She said she wanted allow time for Sally to get comfortable with her. I returned 1.25 hours later and observed Karen talking to Sally while she was trimming her. When they finished Karen thanked me, yes, she thanked me for letting her groom Sally. She said Sally was very well behaved which is music to my ears. I had been satisfied with the previous groomer but this is by far the best Sally has ever looked! First time bringing Miss Mocha Bella. She was a bit nervous but quickly adapted as it was a beautifully laid out store and all staff was very friendly and welcoming. I loved that they gushed and paid attention to my girl. The lead groomer came out and talked with me how I wanted Mocha Bella's hair to be cut. I loved that it was cage free. The dogs getting groomed at the moment seemed relaxed and calm and very much at ease. When I returned to get Mocha Bella she was very happy and looked great. I felt so proud when the lead groomer gushed what a sweetheart she was and how well behaved she had been. Coming from NYC, I thought the price was fair for the service. We not only buy our pet food from them, but if my dog, Loki, was writing this review, he would want to give it 10 stars. Probably many people who are working take there dog there for companionship and play during the workday. We are retired and we take our dog there strictly for his enjoyment. Of course the word "enjoyment" is an understatement. All we have to do is say "doggie day care," and he starts jumping around making high pitched sounds of total excitement. On arrival, he always announces himself and by the time we pick him up 4 hours later, our overactive goldendoodle is totally spent! The staff and management obviously love the animals that are brought there and it is fun to see the photos they post daily on Facebook. It you want to give your pet a treat, try Bark Life - your pet will be insisting on a return visit!! Brought in my 4 month old puppy for a temperament test and left with kennel cough. My puppy had all of his shots by the way. He was sick for three weeks and had to be treated at the vet as it turned into a nasty upper respiratory infection. I know that dogs can pick up kennel cough from anywhere, but I am perturbed at the fact that when I went to the back of the facility to pick up my puppy early, I saw a sign hanging on the door for employees that read three cases of kennel cough reported. The sign was not in the front of the store so customers could see it, and I was never informed of this when I called to book the appointment. Lastly, I was told that my puppy would meet employees and meet two dogs to see how he would behave. The moment I left the facility, I logged into the web cam and immediately saw my puppy placed into a small room with about TWENTY other dogs. There was no small introduction. He was dumped and the women responsible for his temperament test didn't even hang around to assess. I do not recommend. read more

I popped in here to get a few things as my fiance and I prepare for a dog. The staff there were very informative and very accommodating in answering my questions. I love the look of the place and has a nice scented smell that does not smell like pet hahaha. I purchased some of the no hide food that they sell. They have a pretty good plethora of options in stock and they are reasonably priced. I even purchased a car song animal toy and they probably have the best price of other places I've looked at. Even nicer was since I am getting a new dog soon they gave me some samples to give the dog which is always a nice little plus when purchasing things. I definitely love it they have some custom-made treats that are made for dogs such as some homemade donuts as well as cupcakes.
