We had an issue with…read moremy shower temp, the heat wasn't getting as hot as a shower normally would so Daniel came by, with a smile on his face and fixed my shower temp issues in less than ten minutes. Fast forward to the next morning, 3:30AM, I sleepily turn my shower nozzle to the "usual" degree/angle and walk away for a minute to grab a towel when the ear piercing fire alarm begins sounding, (if you live here, you know what I'm talking about.) It turned out that the steam from my now very competent, scalding shower triggered the alarm. Was I paralyzed with panic from the alarm that early in the morning? Yes. Am I mad about it? No. Daniel, will get the job done with a great attitude, and hasty response. Thank you for your help Daniel!

Leasing and management were incompetent, unprofessional, and constantly non-chalant. To start, they…read moregave me wrong information multiple times about the procedure for reserving a unit while out of state and even cancelled my unit after I had already sent a check for holding deposit. When I finally moved in, the apartment was not even in good condition, and within the first couple months I was dealing with cockroaches. They were all over the place including the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Moreover, the refrigerator was infested with ants and they they just ignored it. When they finally decided to schedule pest control for the cockroaches, the person came and didn't even know he was supposed to spray the unit even though that was in the work order request. If I wasn't present to inform him we would have spent the entire day clearing out the kitchen for nothing. He said he was just there to lay bait but agreed to spray and rushed us out. How are tenants supposed to prepare to leave the living space within 10 minutes when they give you a 5 hour window in which they will visit? Ridiculous. Moreover, if you plan on working from home, I wish you luck. I had to deal with constant loud construction noise from adjacent units, with no notice or communication from management. I understand that construction work is necessary but it is common courtesy to notify tenants of any potentially disruptive maintenance work beforehand so they can prepare accordingly. Another problem was the smell of marijuana that seeped through from the bottom unit almost every single night and made my apartment smell terrible. Management did very little, even after repeated complaints. The only way to even get them to even respond through email is by putting in a work order through the corporate line, and even then minimal action was taken. Perhaps their only saving grace was their maintenance team who were professional, prompt, and capable. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for better and cheaper options.

My husband and I moved in here three months ago, and things have been nothing short of excellent so…read morefar. The amenities, cleanliness, and organization of this complex are all top-notch, but the main factor for Block C's success has been its leasing office team. Jessica gave us our first tour of the place in March, and actually REMEMBERED us nine months later when we were finally ready to apply and move in! She is a gem. She is so knowledgable and patient, made us feel very recognized and welcomed, and facilitated a smooth move-in transition. Not many leasing companies seem to get this right - but Block C does: attention to detail and genuine care make ALL the difference to a resident! And we definitely felt that with Jessica. More recently, many of our interactions have been with Sara, who has been nothing short of an angel. She is professional, she is knowledgable, and always willing to help. After we were approved, she helped us on move-in day and made sure we got everything we needed. But her care did NOT stop after that first day - she answered questions and coordinated repairs for weeks after that! She is so quick and responsive each and every time we correspond with her via email. She has helped us with storing our packages when we are out of town, accepted and coordinated larger deliveries for us, and paid rapt attention each time we had a maintenance issue. Each time there has been a maintenance request, she's made sure not only that it simply gets done, but also that it gets done to our satisfaction, and she doesn't just promise that it will and forget - she actually follows up and sees to it herself. You have no idea how much peace of mind that lends a resident, and I am thankful for it every day! Both Sara and Jessica go above and beyond by not only getting things done, but being SO cheerful and prompt with everything they do, and I marvel at their patience and energy! We strongly believe that the best decision Block C's administration ever made was hiring Jessica and Sara. It takes great people to run a great office, and they have been amazing and deserve all the praise (and all the bonuses!) in the world. I know John has been a big part of this as well - he takes care and genuine interest in the operations of the entire community (which I bet is no easy job!) and is very attentive to our needs and our maintenance requests as well. The whole staff has an amazing attitude of service, pride in ownership + stewardship, and attention to detail, and I can tell he leads by example. And it is not just the staff's kindness that makes this place so great - it is genuinely a good place to live. The organization of the complex as a whole that makes me proud to live here. FOBs instead of keys? Genius. A remote door unlocking system for main entrances? Seamless (Why has the housing industry not applied this broadly yet??). A parcel pending package delivery system? What a life-saver. A mixed parking system? Best solution to the parking problem I've ever seen. Everything about Block C makes SENSE and is beautifully executed for the resident's ease and comfort. It truly is the future of the leasing experience. And on top of that, the security team and the maintenance team are effective and responsive. What more could you ask for? As a young millennial, I've lived in my share of apartment complexes in and around southern California. At Block C, one of the main differences is that the whole staff makes us feel not like a burden (which is how I'm used to being treated by rental offices) but instead like appreciated members of their home and family! The complex itself is well-kept and well organized, and I couldn't be prouder to live here. Thank you! -Mr. and Mrs. Javier + Amanda Gonzalez

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! We took over a lease and lived here for…read more9 months. The communication for taking over the lease was very slow. When we did move in, the charges we had on top of rent were way too much. We had to pay an extra $125 every month for a second parking spot. The utilities were a joke! We were told there was solar.. our "solar" bill was around $150 a month! For a 574 square foot apartment (when we both work full time outside of the home). Every single utility is charged for. Gas, solar, water, pest control, trash, sewer, service fee. And then the parking garage... we were grateful we never got into an accident! The way the PIMA students and other residents drive through this structure was ridiculous. They went way too fast around corners and did not look. My fiance saw someone hit a parked car and told the leasing office, not sure they did anything about it. When our lease was close to ending, they never reached out to us about signing a new lease (which we were not going to do), once the month out time hit, I emailed them and they told us we had to give 30 days notice, even though the lease was ending. This caused us having to pay for a few extra days. When I scheduled the move out inspection, the guy arrived the last 4 minutes of a two hour window, and then told me they would be lenient because we had taken over a lease. That was not the case (lack of communication between management and maintenance?). After moving out, they sent us the move out inspection and charged us $200 for drywall repair, but another document they also sent said $50/hr for 2 hours, which should have only been $100. Luckily I caught it and got the full refund. But quite scammy! I could go on and on... the loud roads and freeway in the middle of the night, the construction that did not stay within their hours, but I hope you can understand how bad this place was. Yes there were a few nice things (nice gym, new appliances, walkable location), but these things do NOT outway the bad.

My lease is almost up and they want to raise my rent $300, making it over $1700 for a one bedroom! I like the complex. I have pleasant neighbors and my section of the complex is usually pretty quiet. The grounds are well maintained The apartment is lovely and I feel spoiled with my washer and dryer, but with the new updates we lost our amazing AC unit for an "energy saving" unit. Its not actually an AC at all, its a heat pump and it does absolutely nothing to cool this hot apartment. When I asked if I could have an older AC unit put back in I was told that it wasn't possible. This summer was pretty much unbearable with my indoor temperature being in the high 80s all night. (They should probably take "Air conditioner" off the amenities list....) Finally, I am writing this review in hopes that the new leasing office gets this message: How hard is it to give more than 24 hrs notice before entering our apartments? For a scheduled inspection we should be given at least a couple days notice just out of courtesy. This is a pet friendly apartment and I have a dog. I would really like to be here when random termite inspectors come and freak my dog out. We've been getting 24 hours notices 2-3 times a month which is not enough time to make arrangements to be present when strangers are trooping through my apartment. The old leasing staff would tell us the reason for entry and they would post notices at least a few days before which was MUCH appreciated. Hopefully the new staff can smooth out these issues but for me the price isn't worth it anymore.
