Bargain Shoes ( otherwise known as the Jesus store ) has been open as long as I can remember. This place is sometimes called the Jesus store because the owner is a devout Christian. It's not meant to be derogatory but as a compliment! The shoe section is huge! And I do mean huge! I went here today in the hopes of finding a really nice pair. To my dismay; I couldn't find what I was looking for. Back in the day it was very common to locate a pair or two or more of the Bostonian brand. Not any more! As a matter of fact I purchased a pair back in the late 1970's. It was my first introduction to Bostonian; and I loved them!I think they were 25.00 dollars at the time. Back then there was also a couple of department store's on Main Street in Gaffney. They sold Bostonian shoes for 100.00 a pair! That was a lot of money then!When Walmart came here; Main Street shutdown rapidly! No department stores or anything related survived. Guess what? Bargain Shoes survived; but they had to relocate away from Walmart! I was a bit disappointed in my trip here today as I didn't recognize any brand names in the shoes. They all seemed generic. I still would have bought a pair but nothing felt good on my feet! As you can see in my pictures Bargain Shoes stocks a little bit of every kind of clothing! Ok. This place isn't for everyone, they sell gently used shoes and clothing. The ladies aren't especially friendly especially the black, older manager. Ignore the chilly reception........stay focused and look for the deals. I stop here every time I travel through Gaffney to and from Atlanta and they never disappoint. Look for designer brands and gently used. They are priced higher than expected, which can be a turn off. But, they give a 30 percent discount on all shoes. I purchased 6 pairs of designer (some hi end with leather soles) heels for $139.00. Can't beat that!!! read more

I found the hottest pair of nine west boots here, and 2 years later people still stop me to ask where I got them from. I simply reply "Jesus is Lord" because, well, that's what the sign says; Jesus is Lord at Bargain Shoes. And boy, can you find some heavenly bargains (I know groan, groan). The store is filled with shoes that have been donated/sold for resale. Most of the shoes are like new; others may have just a small bit of wear on the bottoms. Don't worry-all previously owned shoes are thoroughly sanitized before resale. So...if for some random reason you find yourself in Gaffney, SC or if you live in Charlotte and want to take a road trip...definitely stop in. read more

The shoes are great if you look through them good and try on every pair. Sometimes the left and right feel different but worth the trouble. The staff was not friendly and when the manager tried to run my debit card it was declined. I asked her to try again and she said it had already been declined once. I insisted she run it again because she had 2 inch fingernails and could not hit the numbers right. She ran it through again an it was accepted but she acted smug about it. I left and had only been gone 5 minutes until my bank called and said there was unusual activity on me debit card. I told them I would pull over and call the number on the back of my card. I did that and reached the fraud hotline for my bank. They said that someone tried to pay a bill from Bargain Shoes in Gaffney S.C. They straightened it out with me but froze my account. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Bargain shoes? No it's more like over priced shoes for no reason. Some of the shoes have been worn and they still want $30 or more for them. I am sorry but if I am spending $30 on a pair of shoes that have been worn I am just going to go buy me a brand new pair. I have always been confused on the bargain part? $120 for a pair of heels? when I can go to the mall and find a pair for under $60 plus a 20% off coupon? I don't think so "bargain" shoes. I found a pair of Walmart shoes in there they wanted $60 for them no lie. How did I know they were Walmart shoes oh because I bought them at Walmart for my husband for $3 on clearance and the original price was $25. This place is ridiculous and unreal. This store is amazing. I got Frye Boots, yes Frye boots for $70.00. I tried the same kind on at Belk for $498.00. It has a small stick gone in the leather... I also bought Sam Edelman boots that were retailed at $130.00 for $40.00. I cannot even see anything wrong with them and they were new. No worn anything on these. The Franco Sarto shoes had one issue, the clasp to pull down was different than the right boot. No one could even tell. Crown Vintage boots for $20.00. You cannot beat these prices... I have gone to this store for several years because they have good work shoes for a good price, but I have received very bad customer service almost every time. They have good shoes for a fair price, but the rudeness that the cashiers have shown towards me makes me not even want to go back. I always receive a bad attitude from the two same ladies every time. Sometimes I even try to wait for a different cashier to ring me up because the other two make me feel unwelcome. Today I was buying close to $140 on shoes there and the cashier and another lady, who said was the manager, were talking about my family and I right in front of our faces. That was the last straw from them. I will never again shop there; much less spend that much money at a place that does not appreciate us as customers. One of my aunts was visiting from out of the country and I hated that she had to witness that hostile experience. Just because she doesn't speak English does not mean that they had the right to be imprudent and unnecessarily rude like that. Like I said, good deals, but never again will I shop there after that very insulting and inconsiderate experience. I expected more from a so called "Christian based" store. read more
