I've been coming here for many many years. This was THE spot to chill. Used to be more restaurants…read moreand coffee shop. Now there's not much. Used to have 200+ cars hanging on the weekends. Now the new security as of July 2026 is very gung-ho about not allowing ppl to "congregate" or "loiter" or "hang out" in the parking lots anymore. They are not allowing motorcycles or cars to just come to hang out like we've done for years. Yes, there are a few bad eggs, as with any groups of people, but for the most part people are just hanging out, taking pictures of cars, chilling, conversing and even patronizing the businesses that are there. Apparently, even if you go to the shops there you cannot enjoy your drinks or stuff in the parking lots anymore. In lieu of that, I hope that the place fails and businesses are going to suffer bc of it. Oh well. Find a new place to chill.

They are also home to some of my favorite restaurants, including Biaggis, California Pizza Kitchen, and Stoney River. There is plenty of parking and the layout makes it easy to find the shops you are looking for. I look forward to seeing what shops and amenities Deer Park Town Center adds in the future. I wanted to buy a new moisturizing cream that I saw online for a relative of mine to try. After…read moresome research, I realized that this cream is only available at the manufacturer's website or at The Paper Store or Uncharted. Interestingly, The Paper store and Uncharted are actually sister stores under the same parent company, TPS Group Holdings. Uncharted is like The Paper Store's younger sibling, designed to attract a broader audience with trending items. While The Paper Store is known for gifts, Uncharted focuses on trendy brands, apparel, jewelry, home décor, and personalized in-store events. Some existing Paper Store locations are being converted to the Uncharted format, bringing a fresh look and feel. I was happy to have found a new Uncharted in Arlington Heights, with 13,000 square feet of space to shop. The store looked modern and pleasant, with a lot of different small departments. However, my first visit was just a mission to purchase the new moisturizer, which was on a random free-standing display and was easy to find. Unfortunately, I only had about 10 to 15 minutes to look around in that morning. It sure looked like a store that I would enjoy browsing for a much longer time. The checkout counter was located in the middle of the store, unlike most other stores that have the checkouts near the front entrance. So, I did spend a couple minutes looking for it, especially there was no line at the time. There was one young lady behind the counter who was friendly and helpful. She patiently explained their rewards program to me. It was free and easy to join. After signing up, in my email I received a 10% off coupon for the entire purchase in my next visit. Please note that there are fine prints below the coupon that exclude certain brands. As my relative really likes the moisturizer, I will certainly return to buy more and take advantage of the 10% off coupon. I will spend more time shopping next time, and very hopefully will elevate my shopping experience to 5-star.

I went in seeing if there was anything I could get as a Christmas gift. I found a shirt that I could give as a gift for my husband. When I went to checkout, I was offered a 10% discount for giving them my phone number and email address (which took some time that I didn't really have during the bust holiday season). They rang up my shirt and I gave them the coupon. When I asked about why the 10% discount was not given, the salesperson told me that I couldn't use it with their coupon. I then made them erase the personal information I just gave them. For wasting my time and not having good customer service, I will not be going back to Uncharted.

This is my rating based on the potential that I'm seeing with the redevelopment of this mall. Over…read moretime, this mall has generally been a good spot to gather with a quality set of stores, though there's definitely a lot more competition nearby with good options in all of the surrounding shopping centers that cover all the different varieties of shops and restaurants. With lots of indoor malls closing nearby, this setup has become a bit more of a rarity, and personally I still like having a large spot with furniture to sit down at when I need to rest, a climate controlled area for when it's too hot or cold outside, and lots of fun spots to do seasonal pictures. With Hawthorn 2.0, I'm quite excited for what is to come. It looks like there will be a fresh set of solid anchors like Perry's Steakhouse, AMC, Dave & Busters, Macy's, etc. If this develops similarly to Randhurst, this would be a great spot to gather in Vernon Hills. Even before this is complete however, Hawthorn Mall has retained more quality tenants and has an overall cleaner and more modern look than some of the other indoor malls nearby. With the next closest similar offering being Woodfield Mall, this is still a fairly unique offering.

Last week, I went in to do a return. The sales associate was cold. I then looked around and said "goodbye " to her and she barely acknowledged me. Very disappointed.

However, the selection here and prices are really impressive. I bought some Carhartt scrubs as a gift, and other great Carhartt or Timberland finds too. Right now, the store has mostly men's but 20 percent off deals. Great Sox, of course too. It's the perfect time to visit if you need holiday gifts and it isn't too crowded yet. I met a manager, Calvin. Super nice guy and took time to show me around the store. I hope this place does well. Definitely worth checking them out!
