Horrible experience! Drove all the way from west palm beach to have a nice and relaxing day with my significant other in the keys. We decided to rent a jet ski and were referred to Barefoot Billy's; little did we know that we were going to treated so rudely.... Ok, I can deal with rude.. But what I cannot deal with is paying a total of 110$ and being giving a jet ski that took LITERALLY 3 minutes to start (which is a little excessive for a jet ski...) nonetheless the speedometer was broken, and the jet ski barley moved in the water, while others were flying around.... Where this all wraps up, is that there were plenty of jet skis that could have been given to us (being that there were options of over 10 to pick from) but the staff had a group discussion of specifically giving us the broken one.... First visit to key west and booked a jet ski tour with Barefoot Billy's for my family and I. It was the best thing we have done on the island so far. The jet skis are brand new and they provide an introduction video along with easy instructions. Our tour guys Dave and Berry were the BEST! This was my first time riding my own jet ski and at first I was intimidated, but Berry helped myself along the tour multiple times with getting used to the jet skis and ensured I was able to keep up. 27 mile wave runner tour around The Keys!!!! Awesome fun for both kids and adults. The guides are great telling you history about the islands. The let you free for about 30 minutes to play on the wave runners! Lots of fun. The total time on the water is about 90 minutes, but it is 90 minutes of pure fun and sun!!! read more

Great tour, and good tour guide. I think his name was lane? Something with an L. Very informative and he showed us nice spots around the key. Took us to a nice sandbar area that I wish we could have stayed at longer. The PWCs were garbage, mine actually had duck tape on it. I understand they get used a lot but duck tape is not what I want to see on a watercraft. The beach smelled horrible and we had to walk in nasty ocean debris to get on our pwc which this debris was actually all over my craft too. Maybe wash them down if they look like shit?! Life jackets were very old, ripped and dated but I guess it would still save my life. I did enjoy my time but I think I would explore other rentals next time. read more

Fabulous. After a day with iffy weather, things started to calm down and we were lucky enough to take this INCREDIBLE jet ski tour. All the way around Key West (@22 miles) 90 minutes of fun, with free time to just speed around and play. They also take your picture towards the end, and send it to you. Awesome ride around the island with PJ. He did a great job getting us all comfortable with the ski's before we took off. My son who is an adrenaline junkie had a great time while I felt confident enough not to lag too far behind. PJ was looking out for our safety, checking often on the line of jet skis. My Fiance and I did the 2 hour jet ski tour with these guy the morning of my birthday. All the staff was very nice. My Fiance and I shared a jet ski and I drove first. IF you are leaving out of the South Location, you will be driving in choppy ocean first. Knowing how choppy it was now, next time I will drive on the Golf side. I was a little scared at first cause it was so choppy but once I got going it was ok. There were times I felt like I was losing control and the guy in the back of the like told me how to fix that. On the golf side they gave us about 20 minutes of free time. That part was really fun. I wish they had some sort of bright color either on the life vests or on the jet skis so we could tell the difference between our group and the others. We have rented a scooter for the past 8 years when we vacation in Key West, so we know a great price when it happens. These types of businesses turn over a lot in Key West, so I would never recommend paying in full ahead of time. However, when you get there, stop by this place in front of Miami Subs. The owner gave us a reasonable price and filled the scooters up w/ gas throughout our stay, so we didn't have to. We'll definitely rent here in the future! read more

Rented 4 jet skis for a tour. Took out several children. The guides were wonderful, kind, and very helpful. Greatly appreciated how thoughtful they were to help out with one really nervous child, who ended up having a blast! Wonderful staff all around. Used a groupon so for $79 we got the 2 hour island tour and 2 hours of kayaking - a complete steal in my opinion! It was my first time on a jet ski so it was a bit difficult for me to get into a rhythm and I think I missed half the talks he gave when he stopped because I was trying to catch up... Which I don't think was very fair to me but I won't hold it against them. He did come back for me a few times at the beginning which I appreciated and eventually I got much better. There were only three of us on the evening (4pm) tour on a Monday in January, it's possible the groups are usually bigger. We definitely got a lot of time to mess around, we stopped in the gulf where the water was 6 feet deep and warm and there was plenty of time to take pictures and swim. I have to say the tour was very fast paced, the average speed was probably 25-30mph which is very fast on a jet ski although at one point I hit 50 trying to keep up. The kayaking was more of a canoe and we were allowed to do that on a different day than our jet ski tour and we were pretty much set loose. No one stood on the beach with a timer and honestly I don't know how long we were gone because I was busy panicking about the current and looking for manatees (sadly didn't see any :( although I was told to check the marina because they rest under the docks, so there's a tip for you - or just take a special manatee tour). All in all, I would choose Billy's again, they have three locations on Key West which turned out great for us because the ocean was too rough for kayaking at one location and we were just sent to another. Don't forget to bring some cash and leave these boys a tip! Oh and we caught the sunset just as our jet ski tour ended - it was beautiful!!! read more

Just came back from key west. My husband and I went on the 27 mile jet ski tour on a tandem for only $99. What a deal for 2 hour plus non-stop fun We stopped in 2-3 places to swim and hang out and they let us loose to tool around on our own .THere are a lot of difference water sports companies in Key west but for this particular excursion this is the best because it is 2 hours instead of 90 mins. and the groups are not huge and they go out every hour. read more

On our honeymoon- had my hubby on the back of the jet ski while I drove. Accidentally tipped over the jet ski while at a standstill in the Atlantic Ocean and a huge wave hit us. Myself and my husband (and my cell phone) all fell in the water. Our tour guide (old navy vet) came flying over to us on his jet ski and yelled at me, literally till he was blue in the face. "YOU DIDN'T FOLLOW THE FIRST F****NG INSTRUCTION I TOLD YOU, DON'T HOLD ONTO THE JET SKI IF YOU'RE GONNA TIP OVER!!! THE FIRST THING I TOLD YOU!!!" (Kept repeating this and mumbling things under his breath).. Then jumped into the water from his jet ski, turned ours over, told us to get on his so that he could go "save our jet ski" (that had only been tipped for maybe 7seconds total) and sped off. Totally rude to us the rest of the trip, never even showed a bit of remorse for his temper tantrum he had when we tipped over. He made it so he was so far ahead of us in the tour (even though he initially said he'll be looking back frequently to make sure he still has the whole tour crew in eye sight) that we couldn't even see the jet ski in front of us or even the bubble trail anymore. I do not recommend this company. Traumatizing, horrible experience. Will never go back here. read more

Really great staff. I didn't read the details well enough to know that I'd have to take a written open-note safety test in order to rent, so I showed up 30 minutes early for check in when I was supposed to arrive 60 minutes early for the test. But they didn't say a word about it and were very helpful and friendly. The tour guides were fun and the tour itself was definitely an adventure. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

Best jet ski experience on the island! Well worth the trip down from Marathon. Well cared for jet skis to ride out on- checked intake valves before we even went out. It wasn't the a great experience for many in our group. 3 skis broke down and the customer service of some of the guides was deplorable. It range from smoking on the job and being unhelpful to first time riders to losing costumer belongings. Billy need to do a better job hiring. read more

We had a great time on the dolphin and snorkel tour. The captain and first mate were a lot of fun and very knowledgeable and enjoyed their jobs. This was the best snorkeling experience I've had and the dolphins were very active and fun to see as well. Even the bus ride over from our hotel was fun and comfortable! Nick (i think) was our tour guide and he was excellent!. Very safe. Very fair. Allowed us still to have fun.
