    The New Medical Spa - Glen Allen, VA…read more The New Medical Spa, located at 2235 Old Brick Rd, Glen Allen, VA 23060, for deceptive business practices, unauthorized billing, and failure to obtain informed consent. On my initial visit, I presented for a single service only. During check-in, I was instructed to download and use a mobile application. At no time was I clearly informed--verbally or in writing--that I was enrolling in a recurring membership program or authorizing ongoing charges. I did not knowingly consent to any such agreement. The individual assisting at the front desk (identified as the physician's spouse) failed to disclose any material terms, including the existence of a membership, recurring fees, or cancellation requirements. I visited the facility approximately six/eight times and did not return thereafter. Despite my discontinuation of services, the business continued to charge my Health Savings Account (HSA) card, resulting in unauthorized charges exceeding $2,000. These charges were made without my knowledge or express authorization. Additionally, I have serious concerns regarding whether these services were eligible for HSA billing, raising further questions about compliance with applicable financial and healthcare regulations. Upon discovering the charges, I contacted the business to dispute them and request a refund. The business has refused to accept responsibility, failed to provide adequate documentation of any alleged authorization, and declined to issue a refund. Further, during my visits, I experienced what I would characterize as undue pressure to undergo additional procedures that did not appear medically necessary, raising concerns about the business's ethical standards and professional conduct. Based on the above, I believe this business has engaged in: * Deceptive and/or misleading enrollment practices * Failure to obtain informed consent for recurring financial obligations * Unauthorized billing and potential misuse of HSA funds * Unfair and unethical business practices Please be aware and check your accounts.

Today I had the pleasure of experiencing one of their treatments. The front-desk associate was warm, professional, and exceptionally knowledgeable. She walked me through their full menu of services, answered all my questions, and even personally invited me to a special event they're hosting next week. It felt less like a sales pitch and more like a friend genuinely wanting me to explore every option. Pamela met me for my treatment, and she was simply fantastic. Before we began, she offered me a refreshment--such a small touch that made a big difference! Pam took the time to chat about my anti-aging goals, patiently explaining each treatment option and highlighting the benefits of each. Her expertise and genuine care put me completely at ease. The treatment itself was over before I knew it--quick, nearly painless, and highly effective. I walked out feeling pampered, refreshed, and excited about the results already taking place. Now lets get to the issue - i had booked a facial microneedling session and left the 50$ deposit. The appointment was for Thursday and on monday morning i woke up with a stye (bacterial eye infection) i called them to tell them that we needed to switch the date due to this , and they told me it wouldn't be an issue- honestly that felt wrong but i trusted the professional to know best. The next day i went to the doctor for my eye, and was told microneedling with an active bacterial infection on my face was an absolute danger and i needed to cancel that. So i called back Wednesday morning to tell them and they say that they need to charge me 75$ to move my appointment as its within 24 hours, I reminded them that i called on monday and was told it was fine - they insisted that i had to pay this fee in addition to the 50$ deposit they already had from me. They said that it could be applied as a credit from my next appointment. I felt deeply uncomfortable mostly because had i listened to their advice and not gone to a doctor the next day who explained the dangers - my health could have been jeopardized , and also because i informed them with plenty of time and the only reason it was last min is because they didnt reschedule when I requested it, and now they want another 75$ on top of the 50 they had already to switch an appointment for a mistake they made , not me.They also didn't apologize or seem sorry for trying to go ahead with something that could have spread an infection!! I voiced my disappointment with this and was told there is nothing they can do. I opted to not reschedule the appointment just paid the 125$ total and cancelled instead of rescheduling because this incident left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

She was super friendly and explained exactly what products she'd use based on my skin from her observation and my concerns. The facial was awesome and I'd love to put it in my routine consistently but it'd be a bit of a splurge for me. Now the space itself was beautiful but could use some improvements for customer experience. First the room I received my facial didn't have a curtain it was open which made it hard to relax and wind down because I could hear people moving throughout the spa and talking. A lot of talking. Not obnoxiously just more than I'd care to hear since I came to relax. Lastly. The music choices could also be a bit more relaxing like calming/soothing instrumentals rather than music with lyrics. Overall I'd visit again but some changes could make this a much better experience.

In the downside, we were taken back over 10 minutes past our appointment times and the majority of the appointment was spent asking questions and talking. Additionally, the spa does not have a traditional facial with spa robes etc as it is all in the open so that takes away from the spa feel. Overall, the facial was great and I would definitely go back again!

    I know having appointments during Covid can be challenging, so I try to cut business owners some…read moreslack. But this facility really dropped the ball during check-in. I saw the sign on the door telling their customers to call and let them know you've arrived, then wait in the car for them to allow you to enter. (We do something similar at my job.) I arrived early, by the way. Well, I did as instructed and called. No answer. I waited a few minutes and tried again. No answer. Then I tried another time as it was now getting close to my appointment time. No answer. I saw other people just walking in. I guess that sign was a suggestion? So I walked in and let the receptionist know that I had followed protocol and no one responded to me. She looked overwhelmed and didn't seem to have a grip on the her skills. (I also check in people at a front desk and it requires multitasking... sometimes I feel like an octopus handling several things at once.) Well, this poor woman was more like a sloth, sad to say. I waited another 15 minutes in the waiting room, now 45 minutes before I was called back. It was my first time here, and I didn't have a good first impression. Jessica took care of my procedure and that went fine. She walked me out and the receptionist who was supposed to take my payment was flustered and couldn't manage it so Jessica check me out and apologized. The stars are for the cleanliness, Jessica, and the price point. But if I were to review the overall efficiency of my experience, I'd give them one star. I found another office for my follow up.
