Ice cream from the Agave restaurant

I stayed at the Barcelo this past week as a premium guest and it looks like they've improved things over the past years. The buffet breakfast is good and the room service options were too. I'd steer away from the pool bar buffet since that wasn't the best lunch. The basic drinks aren't the greatest but if you have premium, you can ask for better quality alcohol which makes a big difference. The Mexican restaurant on site for dinner options is pretty good and the service is good. Everyone was really accommodating during my stay so I have no complaints about service. They also have free non motorized sports available. I got good use of the sauna and steam room.

I stayed at the Barcelo huatulco and I had to write this review to warn others that are currently booked to come here next. 1. Front desk service is very slow and they are understaffed. Also the staff is very robotic in the information and answers they give, meaning that they have no personality and will not accommodate most basic requests. Also, it seems that their staff is not coordinated because each different person may give you a different answer of questions you might have. 2. Their resort is outdated in the sense that they still use room keys as cards and every other time, the card will not work, so then you have to go back to the front desk ever time to get it resolved, this means that you have to stand in line for some time, every time, this occurs. 3. The rooms are clean though the mini bar does not get refilled even if you ask them to tefill it. 4. Food, the buffet is very limited and average, nothing too great. Note: if you tip, you get better service at the restaurants( this shouldn't be but it is what it is). The waiters only speak Spanish and do not always understand spanish that is spoken in other regions, for example I speak a different tone of Spanish but I use proper words and in occasions they do not understand what I am telling them. The restaurant reservations are extremely limited since they only offer what they want to give you and not what you request. This was very odd because when we were eating in one of the restaurants one night, there were hardly any other guests around. Less than 50% capacity Their COVID policies and regulations do not make sense, since they are strict with some things that shouldn't be while they overlook other things that should be of concern. Beware: the pools here are filthy, I did not see anyone ever cleaning and testing the water for cleanliness. I attached a photo of the water and tile from the pool, note that there is residue and garbage in the water and the tile is green from algae. 5. The money exchange here at barcelo is a mess, Note: they will not take your dollars if they see and tear or blemish on them. 6. Overall, the resort is ok but I am giving it only two stars for now because of the lack of staffing and limited options on foods and activities.

With all-inclusive food and drinks (domestic) this hotel is geared more towards to the price sensitive vacationer. The free buffets are okay, but if you want a real meal venture into town and avoid what is provided. The rooms are clean and the beds, linen, and television are new. However, the complex itself could do with a remodel to bring it up-to-date especially in the bathrooms. The crowd here are the less adventurous types, and the hotel itself has more of a a Club Med vibe designed to keep visitors busy on the grounds of the resort than promote the local businesses of the surrounding town. Authentic experiences will not be had and employees, although helpful, are less adept at helping guests discover new opportunities for adventure in the Oaxacan countryside than at other more upscale hotels in the area. If you're looking for free alcohol, free food, and a show at the on-site theater then this is your place.

The location and views were amazing. The design and layout and amenities were spot on. Service was the best part about dreams, I had never had better service than at dreams. The food was pretty good, the best thing was the fruits, chilaquiles, and fresh max omelets. The drinks were spot on and that was because I had the VIP access to the premiere alcohol selection but otherwise all the other bars were still great and made great drinks. I think you will enjoy your stay but definitely get VIP access and stay for a week. I am pretty much ready to go back and stay for a month. 1 star = bad 2 stars = not good enough to come back 3 stars = I'll come here if my company wants to 4 stars = I'll be there 5 stars = this place is home

We knew we wanted a beach, and that we wanted a city that was not too turisty....that's when I thought about Huatulco. I had come here as a child to a wedding in Camino Real, and I remember thinking "oh my God! Am I in Greece? is this Mexico?". The architecture at this hotel is so beautiful it makes you feel like you are at a beaches in the Mediterranean. Another great thing about Camino Real is that is not considered a resort, and they only have a few number of rooms available. I really like this because it gives it more of an intimate feeling and you can really get to know a few of the people who work at the hotel. The only bad thing about Camino Real is that their service is always not the fastest. At the end, we decided to get married here and we had the best time! All of our guests enjoyed the hotel and had a great time during their stayed here.

As a matter of fact, the grounds are so big that they need to run a constant shuttle service around to get from point A to B. It took me a little while to get used to not being able to just walk to wherever I wanted to go. If you don't see a shuttle after a few minutes, don't worry call the front desk and one will be quickly sent out to meet you. The staffing was very nice and accommodating. The location is gorgeous. My room was located above a cliff over looking the bay. The rooms are spacious with equally spacious washrooms and with outdoor balconies. Lunch at the buffet was delicious, not all that great for dinner. But dinner at the other restaurants on site, where you needed a reservation, was outstanding.

It was pleasant, comfortable, and very close to La Crucecita, a small town where we chose to spend the evening wandering around. If we'd been there longer, it seems like there are a lot of activities on the resort, including a couple of nice beaches, worth checking out. When we were ready to leave the resort on excursions to town, the nearby ruins, or to the airport, the hotel readily arranged inexpensive transport with very nice drivers. The only change I'd make at Las Brisas would be to add several dozen more fans to the lobby and bar, as it was almost unbearably hot as we waited for a ride back to the airport. If you're looking for accommodation in Huatulco, Las Brisas is definitely worth considering!

At first, from the staff of the lobby, bars, restaurants, housekeeping shuttle drivers... are up and down with their services. I guess it depends on the individual. Most of their English is very poor, therefore the communication is slightly difficult. Some of the staff are plain rude; like for breakfast, at the grille, we asked scramble eggs, even explaining with hands signs, the girl start laughing at us, it felt she was mocking at us. Then the head chef passed by, she fixes her posture, and he translated for us. Then she made our dish (horrible, overcooked). Believe me, we didn't go back to the grille. None of the restaurants open on time as per their schedule. In the morning when you are ready for the pool or the beach, the towel service are never there. Sometimes, customers self serve themselves by going behind the counter. Twice, it was windy, therefore the parasols flew into the pool. None of the workers did anything about it, and again customers will put back the parasols themselves back. The shuttle drivers, the bartenders, waiters and waitresses are excellent. Housekeeping are not consistent with their work. There were always towels missing or toilet papers. The hotel itself is humongous and beautiful. The room are spacious but it is not bug free. This morning, a cockroach was found. In the washroom, there is an ant nest getting bigger and bigger despite of me cleaning it. The pools and the beach are beautiful, but it's not spacious. To get a spot, you need to come early morning between 6:30-7:00 to reserve a spot with your lounge chair and towel. The food of the hotel are good. Sometimes at the buffet, some dishes are soaked in the salt. The burger/hot dog grille is excellent. On the 7th floor, there is an Italian restaurant, is splendid and the food is delicious. Also on the 7th floor, there is beautiful lounge with wine tasting every night. Plus, there is a square with hammocks hanging. It's pretty cool and relaxing. Activities are dull. They have dance classes which are very mediocre. The activities by the pool are awful. But I did enjoy mole tasting and learning the history by Darwin, the manager. At the lounge, there is presentation of cutting champagne bottle or sparkling wine bottle with a blade. It's awesome. At the dinner, at the buffet, most of night, there are various dance shows which are entertaining. Overall, there is a lot of room for improvements. Hopefully, with the this type reviews, the hotel will take the criticism and fix their problems.
