The highway/road to the hotel is closed and will be indefinitely. A mountain is being moved to build the highway. It's open only from 4-7am or after 7pm. It's a dangerous drive when it is open and very dark and dirty. I was advised not to travel for my own safety. I called the hotel 3 days in advance. They would not allow a cancellation without full penalty despite the situation and several days notice; meaning no refund whatsoever. I asked if I could move my reservation to a later date and again the hotel would not accommodate. It took 48 hours for the hotel to respond. I repeatedly asked to speak to the Hotel Manager and was repeatedly ignored. I have not cancelled my reservation in hopes the hotel will change its mind and do the right thing. I would expect this hotel, as in all hotels, should put the safety of their customers first. Or at least notify customers of a major issue, like disruption to the access road, upon booking. Very upset! Update: the hotel reached out and said they have reviewed my request and will allow me to rebook in two days. That was the only option. Unfortunately the highway will not be open in two days and alternative arrangements cannot be made in that time frame. This offer is not only a reflection of poor customer service but shows no common sense whatsoever. I proposed any date in February and was declined. Again, I would NOT advise anyone book La Quinta Bella in Huatulco.

As the boogie boarding didn't quite work out for us, we headed back to Huatulco and extended our stay at the hotel. Our observation was that this is a popular tourist destination for people from Mexico City and other points in the country; indeed, I'm guessing we were the only guests from the U.S.A. We did meet a very gregarious Canadian expat (and hotel local) who gave us some pointers about what to see and visit while there. The staff was busy - but never so much so that they didn't have a moment to at least say "¡Buenos dias!" if not engage in some conversation. The young women at the front desk seemed to get a real kick out of hearing us stumble through our limited Spanish (mine more than my brother's), but we were able to break through the communication barrier and lightly converse with them. The pool in the center courtyard was a refreshing amenity, as the heat and humidity were stifling during our stay . As I was swimming one afternoon, a very large iguana lumbered along the deck on his way to a large tree poolside, home - as I would see - to his family. Up he went... it was fun watching him and his family members move around on the branches high above ground. Would that I could remember the names of all the employees who made our stay so pleasant... a couple do come to mind: Tomaso, who greeted us with a warm smile at breakfast each morning as she took our food orders. She is to be commended for her work ethic! Tomaso was there morning, noon & night, working hard and making sure the guests each felt that they were the most important people she was attending to. And... Alejandro Serrano. What an AMAZING excursiones host you have in Mr. Serrano! My brother & I talked to him about going to see the waterfalls, and he set up a day trip that was absolutely the highlight of our visit! Couldn't have been planned any better either, as it was just a couple days before our departure. Alex drove us up into the montañas, where we stopped about halfway up to have a coffee and quesadillas. Through his numerous trips to the falls, he has gotten to know the locals well, and introduced us to the proprietors of this roadside establishment; they in turn greeted my brother and me as though we were longtime friends. Hugs all around when we departed for the falls... and what an adventure lay ahead! Not only did Alex drive us to the destination, he enjoyed jumping into the water, swimming, and wading in the waterfalls right along with us. While most hotels book your adventure for you and off you go, Alejandro made sure we felt just as "at home" as the locals who were also there enjoying the cool water offered by the Copalita River. Thank you, sir, for the perfect "coda" to our stay in Mexico.

With our room we had the option for an extra cost we added the breakfast meal. One less meal to worry about. The breakfast freshly made omelettes on request, which by the way are very filling. We had fresh fruit with delicious yogurt and topping, with sweet bread and a cookie. Had a tamale, taco, with all the dressing!! Inside the hotel is a boutique where you can get mezcal and other stuff, there is the only Starbucks in town and it's tiny. There is a bar and restaurant called Jaguar. We went to the pool area not very big is very well attended with kids and adults swimming and playing. For us we didn't go in found the water cloudy and to us not very clean. We did see staff cleaning the pool every morning though. Just wasn't for us. So we sat on the lounge chair enjoying the sun. Towels are available at the front desk and need to be returned there as well. Lobby was nice with a little breeze going through to keep you somewhat cool. There is complementary parking for small cars not built to accommodate trucks we noticed. There is a laundry room with only one washer and one dryer which is kept locked at all times. You'll have to let the front desk know and they have a person to let you in. They will let you know when available during the day. We did our laundry at 7 am by 8 am done. No one waiting to use and was less stressful as the day time. This Hotel is located by the marina we were able to watch the fishing boats leave in the morning and returning in the late afternoon. They do have big tour boats of the bays that include snorkelling. There is a great selection of restaurants all walking distance from the hotel. - The staff are very friendly - Hotel very clean - they will call a taxi if needed. - will definitely returning for future stays.

The hotel is located on a quiet street a few blocks from the central square of La Crucecita. The staff was friendly and quite helpful. Spanish was not needed to check-in, some of the staff were quite fluent in English, and other staff who knew little English were patient and still helpful. The motel is nicely styled and appointed. The rooms are large, comfortable, and quiet. The AC was quiet and effective. (If you are looking for a room with flow-thru ventilation, this is not it). The room has a place to hang wet clothes. TV, complimentary WiFi and bottled water are provided. The made-to-order breakfast was a surprise for us, with eggs in a variety of ways, fresh fruit, and coffee although it is not served until 8 am. We cooled off multiple times in the pool, that is designed with children in mind including a fun slide and wading pool.

I wanted to exchange my dollars into pesos and when went to grab my money from the suitcase, my money was gone. One of their staff looked through my suitcase and stole my money in (dollars) when spoke to mariela Garcia she was very unprofessional and stated why wasn't it placed in safe box. And insinuated that it was my fault. Didn't apologies, didn't offer any help. She then said we might have left the door open which we didn't. The keys are given to the receptionist and the keys are left on the counter. I have not had this experienced before. I was not aware that if you didn't leave your money in the safe box it was okay for their staff to look through your personal belongings and steal your money. I contacted the agency and the staff there didn't answer their phones, until hours later. I asked to speak to the manager or someone else but Mariela refused and was rude and unprofessional. She insinuated that we lied because there is no way the cleaning lady would steal. I didn't state it was the cleaning lady since all the staff has access to the keys. She then in a mocking manner stated to contact the police. ( if you are a foreigner you know calling the police wont really help and you will have to give them money) However, they have cameras right above our door. Nothing was done. Tried speaking to another staff but given the same answer that why wasn't it in the safe box. The worse experience I have had and being stranded in a foreign country. Do not stay here, find another hotel. Where you will feel safe and comfortable leaving the hotel and leaving personal belongings unattended..

If you don't see a shuttle after a few minutes, don't worry call the front desk and one will be quickly sent out to meet you. The staffing was very nice and accommodating. The location is gorgeous. My room was located above a cliff over looking the bay. The rooms are spacious with equally spacious washrooms and with outdoor balconies. It was pleasant, comfortable, and very close to La Crucecita, a small town where we chose to spend the evening wandering around. If we'd been there longer, it seems like there are a lot of activities on the resort, including a couple of nice beaches, worth checking out. When we were ready to leave the resort on excursions to town, the nearby ruins, or to the airport, the hotel readily arranged inexpensive transport with very nice drivers. The only change I'd make at Las Brisas would be to add several dozen more fans to the lobby and bar, as it was almost unbearably hot as we waited for a ride back to the airport. If you're looking for accommodation in Huatulco, Las Brisas is definitely worth considering!
