I absolutely love Take Pride Barbershop The owner Kenzy has been working with me since 2008 I watched her thrive at other shops until she opened her own shop the atmosphere is very inviting the people are so welcoming I can't imagine going to get a better haircut or color from anyone else. Kenzy went above and beyond when I was going through cancer treatment she even found a bleach that didn't hurt my sensitive scalp. I needed a new barber for my teenage son, and BarberStarr came highly recommended. They are in downtown Gresham so there's only street parking and the city lots. There is a small lot directly across the street. The space is pretty nice. They've got about 6-8 stations and about the same amount of chairs for waiting. They play pretty good music and the lights on the ceiling are cool. Our barber did a good job on my son's hair. Based on what I saw while waiting, it looks like all the barbers were doing a good job too. read more

Made an appt to get a cut and arrived a few days later to my appt and after some confusion about who was cutting my hair, I got a guy with a grill from Florida. I have never had someone cut my hair that was more rough and just over all not great than I did here. The bro is fly looking but the cut was a disaster. After he shaped up the underneath of my hair I asked him to cut it straight across. I got home and showered and blow dried my hair and my friend laughed so hard that I asked what was wrong. My hair was so uneven! On top of everything the hair wasn't even straight. Talked to Phil on the phone and explained and he was not super tolerant and told me to come back in. Wait times are ridiculous, seems as though the barbers here are not professional in their times. I work in the service industry myself, in this field of hair and beauty. Called ahead to make sure they could take walk ins, was told that's no issue, I'd have to wait, I have no issue with that myself. Came in around 5:30 waited over an hour to then be turned down as they "over booked". Left the store around 6:45, while there were a couple other people waiting for their appointments. As a professional myself in this industry, you never turn down a client due to your booking mistakes, without offering some sort of compensation for already waiting an hour plus. Wouldn't recommend coming here unless you have all day to waste. read more

When my 10 year-old asked for his favorite football team's logo shaved into his head, I wasn't sure how it'd turn out. Thankfully, JJ is insanely talented and it turned out fantastic! I went there today for the first time. The barber was also there for his first day. I asked for him to clean up my longish Ivy League. He showed me a bunch of photos on his phone of different high fades. I told him no, I want a taper, longer than a fade. He then gave me a high fade with the top long, ended up looking like a bowl cut. Everyone I saw there was getting fades and most of them looked good. So if you want a short fade it might be a good place to go. I wouldn't recommend it for any other kind of haircut as I've just got the worst one in living memory. The barber also gave me my whole cut facing away from the mirror which prevented me from seeing the progress. I probably could have given more feed back if it was done the standard way. read more

They have a variety of times and hours. Walk in Wednesday. Which means you may have a wait, but no appointment necessary. Otherwise I would suggest calling at 10am or day before and getting an appointment. They will take walkins but at your own risk. Really nice and new shop. Great location. Two nearby free parking. I had long hair most of my life. I told my granddaughters for almost 2 years that I had decided to shave my head. My oldest granddaughter got 1/2 her head shaved before me. I got my hair done the next week. I've had good cuts for the last 3-4 years, about 70% shaved(from the bottom up), the hair on top is just under shoulder length. This allows me to keep a ponytail, braid or let me drop the top hair on top, when down you can't tell I've got shaved hair. This cut was easy to keep up using low cost chain stores. After the 2nd terrible cut this year I decided I had to make a change. I spent time researching options for hair cuts. I knew I wanted to keep my shaved & short style. I also wanted a design in my shaved hair. When I'd narrowed the choices to two shops I read every review. Reviewed everything I could find out about history and educational experience. I wanted only shops in my little part of town, to keep my money local and not support a large corporation. I decided on BarberStarrs Barbershop. I called and set up an appointment for the next day at 10am with Jeremy. Jeremy cut my hair, I had the best service, he answered all my questions and asked questions about my hair. He didn't try to act like he knew everything, he was honest. I feel like I've finally have the best cut of my life, the design is fantastic and personal. I am willing to pay for a quality cut every time. There were 3-4 other chairs filled at the time I arrived and there were 3 walk-ins while I was there. The atmosphere in the shop was friendly and welcoming, a family style service related shop. The language was respectful and everyone was upbeat. A walk-in may need to wait, employees have breaks, lunchtimes and people who made appointments, walk-in's come afterwards. Would never recommend this place. I've given this place one to many chances. I have walked out every time I'm been disappointed with my haircut. Everyone here is to cocky and they won't talk to you while you get a cut only talk to each other. This place doesn't give a very welcoming vibe. They don't hire anyone with experience, and can't keep a consistent barber. I've gone every few months and it's almost a whole new staff except for 2 guys up front. Most recent cut I got it was front a younger guy and all he cared about was fixing his hair while trying to cut mine. First visit, first impression. Clean, really clean. Polished chrome and brass barber chairs, a spotless floor, well organized counters. I've been in too many shops that look like people live there or there's some years of what-is-it grunge spotting the chairs arm rests. The cut. I go shorter as the weather gets warmer. Louie with clippers and razor did a great job, nice even cut with good sharp lines. I should further add that he knows why barber chairs can be turned. He stood in one place and rotated the chair to him. That may not seem like much but in reality it means the barber is not physically in close on the sides of the chair and my elbow, off the arm rest, is not bumped against his junk. Thank you. I had the same Barber cut my hair for 20 years. Old Italian man named Vinny. An act of Congress couldn't make me go anywhere else. When he retired I was heartbroken. I've gone to tons of places in the past 5 years, usually only once. I don't want a salon, I want a friggin Barber. Came in with a friend today to try this shop. Phil greeted us right away and though we had some waiting to do I actually enjoyed it. It was like one big conversation amongst the barbers and customers.
