Butchered my son's hair and chopped it off, even after talking through what we wanted and showing pictures. (My son is 8) he was already nervous to get his hair cut because he loved how long he had gotten it. Once his was visibly upset and crying she continued to call him a baby and to stop crying. He didn't stop crying for about a half hour after the apt. Horrible experience. Older lady, didn't catch a name. Will never be back. Shame on you. Also for the record his dad is one of the nicest people so he doesn't like any conformation at all. Was really disappointed when he got back and let me know everything that happened. All of this exactly a week before his birthday and party. There's no check in desk, nor is there a "take-a-number" dispenser. It looked for all the world like it was up to the customers to keep track of who was next. When I arrived there were four customers already there. Three more arrived before I left. The staff said hello to the new arrivals, but not to me. It had a great ambiance, but the music was too loud. The low price rating attracted me to this place but I will never return. I had my haircut by Melody the two times I went who didn't seem interested in giving a nice haircut and more interested in rushing my time in the chair to get through to the other people queued up and waiting. The first time I went she delivered a haircut I can only describe as mediocre and equivalent to what I've received at a national chain barbershop. The second time was the same but I also asked for a taper and instead received a straight cut which was completely crooked! My girlfriend was shocked that a professional barber had cut my hair upon seeing how bad it looked. Great basic haircuts for men and reasonably priced (cash only). The only downside is that you have to listen to the owner shove her beliefs and opinions onto everyone in the building. I didn't expect to have to listen to the owner completely talk trash about politics, malign teachers, vaccines and conspiracy theories or the subtle put-downs directed at the other stylist and clients. A lovely little shop off Division and Burnside in Gresham. I was looking for a new barber shop and think I may have found it. Melody cut my hair today. It was a simple cut, but she still found ways to make my request a little better for me. I'm not terribly experienced with hair cutting lingo, due to getting my hair cut by someone who didn't speak English for about 10 years. Melody walked me through things to start with, and we ended with exactly what I wanted, without any hassle. The cut ended with a little straight razor work along my neck line, and a splash of something nice that left a good scent lingering for quite a while. The atmosphere of the shop is nice. Reminds me of a little shop out in the country, and Melody was playing some old big band jazz music. I loved it. The cut and tip I left to go with it was $20. A decent value. They only take cash, but they have an ATM in the store. It does have a little service fee, so I recommend bringing cash to avoid any hassle. I'll be back. Thanks Melody! read more

The haircut was fine but the woman who cut my hair doesn't support BLM. She was more upset that George Floyd is being used as a martyr than actual police brutality. She asked if I've ever had any experience of racism or anything like that as a Hispanic man, and because I haven't, she tried to use it in her favor. But I'm the exception. The couple of bad reviews in the past from customers seemed to deal with political correctness, politics and general griping about the current situation of our society rather than the quality of grooming! If a customer wants great service regarding details in their appearance go to Hair's my Barber Shop. If a disgruntled consumer wants to complain about society write a letter to your local newspaper. Been coming off and on here for years even at their old location. I can't stand the owner and she does poor haircuts, at least the couple of times I've had them from her. I try and come in to get cuts from two different employees since they both do very good cuts. I've been trying to get my hair done during this pandemic but I'm not big on giving places my personal information. So I came here. Well, masks are apparently not required and people seem fine with that which places other people in danger. I can't understand the selfishness and complicit disregard for other people's safety of those who won't wear a mask. As others have said, the owner has said many racist or other kinds of hateful things over the years but there are great employees here. I came here on a Saturday a few weeks ago. This was my first time here and I didn't have a choice since this was the only place open during the pandemic. First of all, the Barber came half an hour late to open. Wasted my time getting there early. In addition there was 1 person already waiting ahead of me and another person cut in front of me claiming he was there before me. That's Oregonian class for you. Plus they don't take appointments. Well I wasn't in a big rush and I really needed a haircut so I let it slide. When it was my turn, I told the barber how I wanted to get my haircut. I told her the length to buzz it and she kept suggesting it was too long. I kept thinking, "I think I know how long I want my hair." I guess she's just used to all these guys wanting zero buzz cuts. Next she buzzed my side burns too high and then proceeded to buzz my top too. Either she's too lazy to use clippers or doesn't know how to use them correctly. I'm guessing both. What kind of grossed me out was that she used an old razor blade to shave the side burns and hairline. Who knows how many people that blade has been used for. Disgusting. Overall, I don't think I would go back. Style isn't the expertise here. It's perfect if you want only a buzz cut and if you're over 70. +1 for the music. read more

I've been here twice and they are very good at what they do, cut hair. They could do a little better on the cleanup of your haircut (Get some of the leftovers off your head) but I guess that would increase the price of the haircut. They do have very good prices. read more

This is easily the best barber shop around. It has a great old school vibe (maybe because I'm only 20) but I love it. Reminds me of the place my dad used to take me as a little kid. The hair cuts are always perfect, and I am one of those very picky clients. Everything needs to be perfect, and never once have I had to correct the ladies in there. I usually get a 1/2-1 fade, about an inch on top, normal cut for a guy. The blending the ladies do here is phenomenal. Before this I used to go to "professional barbers" you know, $32 for a hair cut and neck shave, line up, etc. these ladies do it all for almost half that. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

Walked into this place told them about my bad experience at barber stars and they wanted to fix my hair for me, was lucky enough to get Blake to cut my hair. He's my dude, he took pride in the way he cut my hair, did a nice fade and good blend. If you go in defiantly ask for Blake, he will do you right.
