Mike was at Tom's for years, then he bought that business, then he moved to a new location. Anyway, I go the best haircut in years after trying many in the Spokane and Spokane Valley area. This was our second visit, we came 30 miles because we were so impressed with David the first time. I have a teen and a toddler, and he was amazing with both, but let's be real: it's the little one that is the challenge. My kid is NOT a fan of haircuts, but David took to it like a champ. This time was better, after my kid ran out of tears and snot, we convinced him it 'wasn't that bad' to have a haircut. David is sooooo patient and understanding. He's a good ol' boy playing rock music and loving his neighbors. Holy cow it's like a giant family, all of the customers he has. He knows everyone by name, they all love him. Here's what I loved as a mom: this is a family friendly place. You won't find posters of half naked women anywhere, just good ol Americana and a cat or dog depending on the day. He has nice hot towels when you're done. It's a hole in the wall place, not anything fancy at all. No appointments, but he'll put your name on 'the list' and you can show up when you need to. I was a bit skeptical at first when I saw a barbershop named "Barber Shop". Plus I never had good experience with non-Asian barbers as many of them don't handle Asian haircut very well. It turned out that Dave did a great job on my hair and I visited 3 times in a row. Dave doesn't take appointments. I didn't know and I called to schedule an appointment. He said no appointment but he could put my name down on the list. I went and there were people in line but he did my hair first because I called in advance. One time I did walk-in and there were 13 names on the list in front of me. Most of them didn't show up and Dave let me cut in the line. He is a nice guy and he talks a lot. Always call to put your name down first. I think it is $12 for men's haircut. read more

I had to get a haircut before a job interview and so I went in at 7am due to the reviews I'd seen other users leave. I hate getting my haircut and so I only do it every 4 months. I'll probably be going back every month now! Dave is funny, maybe not politically correct, but funny and down to earth. Part of why I hate haircuts is that your stuck in a chair for at least half an hour and often they're hard to talk to. Dave is a master conversationalist. I really enjoyed the whole experience and had a very neat, crisp haircut with great lines that work with my face type. I've never been to a barber shop before, and I was pretty nervous about it. Reading the reviews pointed me towards this place and I had the BEST experience. David took his time and explained to me the differences between cosmetologists and barbers and the sizes of their guards. He paid really great attention to detail and fixed what previous stylists had messed up, which has now empowered me to recognize what was wrong about my haircuts in the past. My hair looks great!!! He even blended my sideburns without me having to ask, which I super appreciate. When I thought we were done he pulled out the vacuum. I was surprised! Definitely not the brush off, still-have-hairs everywhere treatment that I'm used to. I thought it couldn't get better when he pulled out the straight razor for the edge up. It was legit! I've paid over $40 for cuts that were just okay and left me needing to handle my sideburns myself and then shower off to get all the little hairs off. I've paid $20 for haircuts that were terrible. This phenomenal haircut with attention to detail, patience, good attitude, beautiful blending, attention to the sideburns, some razor action + hot towel clean off, no stray hairs...... There are a lot of 'FU FU' hair places in town now, and it shouldn't be hard to get a haircut or a complicated process like some of these other barber shops are doing. I reviewed this shop on 6/21/2016, Dave was at a different address at the time, but service was fantastic. Here it is, 14-months later,,its a new location, bigger shop and the service is even better. Dave has added additional staff, but do yourself a favor and call ahead, it gets busy. As for me, I had to work late the day i went in, but lucky for me, the shop is open til 7:00. Dave gave me an exceptional cut, #1-#3 on the sides, longer top. This cut would pass any military spec and looks great! Thanks Dave, I hope I can get back up that way for another cut next year. I just went in to Dave's shop and had one of the best haircuts I've ever had! I recently lost my usual barber as he went out of business so I was looking for a new place. I'm not a big fan of paying $30 for a haircut but I also don't want to go to supercuts. Dave took his time and gave me exactly what I was wanting even though I wasn't able to describe exactly what I wanted. He's a great conversationalist and I enjoyed chatting with him. While I did have to wait a while that shows me that he takes his time with each customer and gives them the attention they deserve. Dave is the head barber there. He's really good. Always willing to go the extra mile. I'd say the biggest perk of this place is its hours of operation. On some days Dave is there as early as 7 am! You can't beat that. I've never had the girls cut my hair so I can't speak for them. I'm really picky about my hair being faded / blended correctly. Hate lines and layers. The times I did feel like Dave needed to clean up a place or two-NO PROB! My only reservation, is that they don't always switch out their blades on their hand held razors. "They sterilize them" I have friends who own barber shops and hang out at barber shops enough, to know that there's no reason to not switch out the blades and give customers a fresh one. A box even of the most expensive blades is still doable. And if it's not, then you simply up charge for razor shaves. All that said Dave is a primo guy who's got skills-period. Excellent barber I called him right before he was closing to make and appointment and he told me to just come on in, that he would stay open for me. His response to making an appointments was "No man im not stuck up just come right in!" We were looking for a new barber for my husband after the one and only old time barber in Cheney retired. Came upon this one and hit the jackpot. Dave is a great man and barber. He honors vets (my husband is a Marine) and he loves animals-2 things that make us happy. He did a wonderful job on the haircut and badly needed beard trim for my husband.
