I walked into this barbershop today hoping for a fresh look, showing the barber a clear reference photo of a curly mullet - you know, that trendy, layered style with volume on top and length in the back. What did I get? A buzzed-to-the-bone disaster that looks like it was done with a weed whacker. My curls? Gone. My mullet dreams? Obliterated into a generic, ultra-short crop that makes me look like I lost a bet. Shocked, I flagged down the owner/barber to complain. He took one look, agreed it was "very short" (understatement of the year), and offered to comp the service as an apology. Fair enough, right? But here's where it gets messy: the original barber (JC, as I later learned) didn't even bother lining up my hairline. It's crooked as hell around my temples and neck - like a toddler drew it with crayons. Total amateur hour. I politely asked for JC's name to reference in my feedback, and the owner/barber straight-up grilled me: "Why do you need his name?" I explained I was leaving a review to warn others. His response? "Please don't do that." When I stood my ground and said I absolutely would, he flipped the script - threatened to charge me (and did) for the haircut anyway, and topped it off by calling me "spoiled" as I walked out the door. Spoiled? For expecting a basic competence from a professional service? This place is a joke. Rude staff, zero accountability, and haircuts that ruin your day (and your self-esteem). My friend and I wanted to do a makeover for fun. After a lot of searching, we ended up at Barber Effect. While it was out of our way (it's not accessible by metro), we chose it due to the easy to use website, straightforward pricing, great reviews on google and customer images that were exactly the style we were looking for. And WOW... the commute was 100% worth the cost of an Uber ride. We booked with Frank and couldn't believe the magic hands this man has! hahaha. Frank is funny, kind and was super helpful bringing both his expertise and listening skills to the table. We showed up with a few samples of what we wanted and Frank worked his magic on my friend's hair and beard. I also was super annoying recording everything for TikTok (haha!) because, well, we wanted to make a funny video of the experience for our friends - and Frank was so fun to work with. Repeat customer for close to 3 years. Made an honest mistake booking an appointment on a day I was traveling. Business refused to rebook without a second upfront payment (double charging me). I set my appointment for 12 pm with Frank. I walked in, Frank introduced himself to me, and actually started my haircut before 12. You could tell immediately he knew what he was doing. This is my 2nd time here and I'm glad I came back. My first experience here a long time ago wasn't so pleasant. I spoke to Jake on the phone and he was very professional and accommodating. I called around 1:45 PM and got the 2:00 PM slot for Brayan. Brayan was very professional and nice too. He looks younger than the others but he's very good at what he does. I highly recommend Brayan! this is a late review but I went here a while ago, I was in need of a cut and wanted to try a more "professional" barber shop. I asked for a taper and just some texture around the top and at first I was satisfied! However, the barber never showed me my back(he also kind of rushed the hell out of my cut) and I went home to my whole family noticing that the back fade was incredibly crooked Im a busy guy, so I never really went back to get my money back or get it fixed plus Im not one to trip about a bad cut. The staff members were very polite and professional but I scheduled an appointment me jake to have my little ones hair cut into a tapered fade as soon as jake started it was evident he lacked the skills and experience to cut ethnic hair types. Jake didn't comb out his hair before beginning the process which lead to a uneven and horrid experience for my little one the next day. He was bullied throughout the day because of the noticeable clumps of uneven hair patches. read more

Everything about the experience was good and it was reasonably priced. I got the impression they were going for Hair Cuttery but specifically for men. This review is not so much about the cut but Frank's attitude today . I had scheduled my son's first haircut with MZ today . Our fault was that me and my son had an idea on what we wanted but were not very familiar with number 1 /2/3 etc and also needed some advise from the experts on how we could get the look my son wanted . .. Also, my son preferred to keep his hair longer and had shared the picture too with MZ and Frank . Since MZ could not answer some of our questions regarding number 1/2/3 etc and what length could get us the desired look ( he was not able to explain ) Frank talked for him and said to me that either you or your son decide what you want . He kept rolling his head , was curt and not at all friendly. I also said that I am not familiar with numbers and we would appreciate his advise but Frank did not show any interest. He did not even consider that we are his first time clients and my son is 12 years old , Our stylist was MZ but Frank did all the talking since MZ could not explain /understand what we were looking for . Towards the end MZ did what Frank explained him which was an ok Job , not what exactly we were looking for . What disappointed me Frank's total lack of interest, customer service , no advise whatsoever ( which a good stylist's job is ) and very rude behavior ! His expressions throughout the time as he observed us getting a haircut from MZ spoke volumes ! Our fault was that we went with an expectation based on the reviews that Frank and his team are great stylists and would be friendly enough to offer an advise if asked for but Frank's attitude today was very disappointing and disrespectful! MZ on the other hand was still fine and did whatever he could understand! So thanks for this 'great experience' Frank ! We were looking for a new place to get a haircut after our stylist took off for parts unknown. (She didn't have our number, so couldn't contact us). We "found" Barber Effect during a web search. The prices were reasonable and it looked like a stable business. Also, it's fairly close to home. You make an appointment using their app. There's a choice of male or female stylists, with one Master Barber. We chose MZ, because he was available when we needed. He's Turkish and English is not his first language, but he's an exceptional barber and stylist and we have been repeat customers since our discovery. The business itself is popular, with a constant stream of (apparently) regular customers. Walk-ins are accepted, but you may have to wait a while - but not long. There are 8 chairs available. Everything is clean and the floor is jept free of hair. We highly recommend! read more

Booked an appointment on their website in advance with Frank who was unavailable. Our wires got crossed and he had the wrong date on the calendar so I was put in a different barber's chair. He was very apologetic about the confusion, and I would have happily come back on a different date because I only like to work with master barbers. This was my second time requesting to see him but he is difficult to get a hold of. I got an ok haircut at the end, but probably could have had a similar result on the sides from a lesser priced place. For crew cuts and standard short hair styles I'm sure this place is fine; but I don't recommend going here if you have long hair. read more
