This flower shop made an absolutely gorgeous display for a funeral we could not attend so the flowers really stood in place of us there, and I couldn't have been prouder, it was a big cross with red roses across the center, and she didn't use cheap flowers like many shops do with just daisies, she used beautiful chrysanthemums and high quality roses, stunning, everybody was so impressed! RANT- I'm posting this for my friend. This is from Barbara Florist on 5th street. I spoke with Barbara and she just said she did everything correctly and followed the recipe that she was given and nothing is her fault. The first picture is literally on HER website...the second picture is what I received 15minutes prior to the funeral. On the phone she stated she followed the picture but didn't have the peach roses...that was NEVER said to us. If you are out of a flower that is suppose to be pretty much the main flower why did you not say anything?! The flowers are wilting on the bottom and the roses that were provided have brown on the bottom of them. I told her this and she said she got the flowers in today and they aren't wilted, she said the funeral is already over so there's nothing to be done and refused to give me a refund or do anything about it. It's not like it was cheap like this was $160! she was super condescending on the phone and continued to call me "baby" and "precious" and "honey" that is unprofessional. After she said she did everything right, it was my fault for not calling sooner, and she wasn't doing to do anything about it I just hung up. Extremely disappointed ESPECIALLY since it was a funeral. Just don't recommend her clearly. read more

I found Barbara's Florist online and liked one of the arrangements titled "Woodland Whimsy". I called Barbara's directly to place the order to ensure that I was able to share exactly what I wanted, mainly, no carnations. The individual I spoke to was very nice. When I shared the name of the design, she wasn't sure of the actual design. She asked me what was in the arrangement, and as I had it pulled up online, I was able to share all of the elements in the arrangement. She was then able to locate it and commented that this design had been very popular, but currently they did not have the exact wooden box shown in the photo. I said that was fine. I shared with her that it was going to a relative in the hospital, and she suggested the medium (deluxe) size (versus the premium) due to space restraints in the hospital room. And I just reminded her that I did not want any carnations. She said that they would be receiving their floral order that day (it was a Monday) and they would prepare it and deliver it. The recipient like it, which is the main thing, but as you can see from the photos, what I ordered and what was delivered was vastly different. Instead of tuberose, they substituted white stalk (difference in appearance and aroma). Instead of peach ranunculus, they substituted one orange and one pink Gerber daisies, and instead of the peach-colored carnations (which I did request), they substituted white daises. Lastly, the online photo, is showing the STANDARD arrangement. I ordered the next size up, the deluxe. When I asked about the difference between the standard and deluxe, I was told that it would be bigger. As you can see, not only is it NOT bigger, but there are NO additional flowers - for the additional cost. I am not seeking a refund, nor I am seeking another more in line delivery, just sharing my experience. read more

Doesn't answer complaints. Completely ignores you once they have their money. I can't get an answer calling the shop but they sure didn't have a hesitation to charge my husbands cards. Thanks for making a terrible year even worse. My pics were delivered old, the water was yellowed it was so old and almost empty. Flowers were wilted and discolored. Very disappointed that people don't take more pride in their jobs anymore. read more

A casket spray was supposed to be delivered to a funeral home on Friday July 5th for a funeral service on Saturday July 6th at 9:00am. When the immediate family arrived at about 8:25 the casket spray was not there. They told us it was supposed to be delivered on Friday. They were clearly upset. I called Barbara's to find out where the spray was, only to find out that they were closed for the day, and no forwarding number. The family spent the next 25 minutes or so trying to figure out what to do. They took a spray off of a stand to put on the casket so it would have flowers. About 10 minutes before the service started the spray arrived. The woman's excuse was that they had a service on Friday and could not deliver the flowers when they were supposed to be delivered. Not a good excuse when the family was told that the flowers would be delivered on Friday. All it would have taken was a phone call from Barbara's to let them know they would not be delivered until Saturday. Very unprofessional and very inconsiderate to treat a grieving family this way. You need to do better, so much better. read more

Called last minute for a birthday arrangement to be delivered the same day and they not only delivered well before noon but the arrangement was spectacular. I called Barbara's Florist in hopes of finding a colorful anthurium plant for my Mom's 85th birthday. I wanted to pick it up the following day and have a Mylar balloon added. There was only one left in the shop that she said she would hold for me until the following day. When I arrived, the plant with a darling balloon was ready. Upon my check-out the cordial lady who was helping me, shined the plant and asked me to wish my mom Happy Birthday. While this was my first need for a florist since moving to Tyler, I will definitely choose Barbra's again for future floral needs. read more

I have been giving this florist chances for three years now only because I live in the same neighborhood as this florist shop. Each year I have been disappointed a little more than the last. It seems the flowers from here always look a little burnt around the outside edges and the price keeps going up. My wife loves pink roses and each year I have managed to get pink roses from here although they were a little sorry looking. This Valentine's Day I went to pick up my arrangement and not only were they burnt looking around the edges but they were a pale white pink not what I was wanting. She offered to exchange them for a different color but when I looked at the rest that she had to offer they looked even worse. I want to head and purchased them because I did not want my wife to go without and since it was the day of Valentine's Day I knew it would be hard to find something else. My wife and I the night before bought our daughter some roses from Walmart for a quarter of the cost that looked better. I will not go back to this place again. read more
