Yesterday I was trying to replace two sets of 3-way switches in two different gang boxes with new Smart Switches. I was able to do the smart switches on the load side, but when I got to the gang box that had the line hot connections for both, the directions became a little fuzzy. I had four wires and the smart remote switches had three screws. The directions just were not clear enough and it was getting dark, so I said epic fail and wired the old switches back on. This morning I decided to call/text four electronics. While waiting for them to reply back, I was looking over the instructions and finally realized that you had to wire up the common and 1st traveler on black screw. I was ready to try again then John replied back to my text. He mentioned his hourly rate and that he can be at my house in five minutes. Since he could be here so quickly and his rate was extremely resonable, I decided to go with him to wire the switches up. He was here promptly and when I went over what I was replacing and where I started having a problem with the instructions, he did agree it looked a little confusion. He did a bang up job in no time flat. He wired all four switches within the hour and the work I saw was top notch. It was well worth the money for him to finish the job within the hour. The best thing is that I now have a recommendation for electric work that is local in Poway. If I ever need any more intensive jobs, John will be the first person I call. Even if you are a DIY person, if you don't have time, since time is precious or you just don't want to do it, call John. My wife and I just bought our first home in Poway and have been working through a number of small issues with the house. The biggest thing on my plate though was having all of the electrical gremlins from the previous owner worked out. The previous owner apparently was a self proclaimed electrician, but should've stuck with their day-job instead. John came over a couple times and fixed a number of wiring issues we had as well as replaced the old plastic box that our downstairs fan was mounted to which was causing quite a bit of movement of the fan. I called John because I attempted to expand a wall switch from 1 to 2 gang for a bathroom exhaust fan and light but stopped once I got comfortable. John was friendly on the phone and very accommodating when it came to a time he could stop by for an estimate. Though he initially stopped by to give an estimate, he said he could start work immediately as it was a relatively small job. He finished the job quickly and charged a very reasonable price. Well, it's been a week since I requested an estimate. He came over, really nice guy, gave recommendations, took some measurements. I asked for two quotes. One separating the work I requested and one with everything. He said he would text me an estimate and I still have not received anything. I texted him 4 days later inquiring about the estimate, and still nothing. I'm not sure if he thought I was serious about the work or not, but it's a real bummer to waist my time to bring a person over to give me a quote and not follow through. I'm sure he does great work, but I will definitely not recommend him to anyone, especially not to my neighbors that were looking to do the exact same thing I was doing. They were gonna see what I was quoted, and probably hit him up if I went with him too. So now he just lost two potential customers. It's a real bummer. read more

I needed a good electrician to come into my house and install 4 ceiling lights to replace old ones. I have very high ceiling and new it would be a difficult job. I had already had one electrician turn down the job due to the difficulty. I live in Del Mar and told John I need to leave the house at 7am sharp to get to work. He showed up a few minutes early ( He came all the way from Ramona) and put me at ease right away . Said the job was not a problem and estimated the cost. I was also concerned since I have 1 YO boxer that likes to play who was in the house while I am gone . John is an animal lover I learned and has many himself including dogs, cats, houses, etc... Now there are probably many electricians who display these same traits but what sets John apart from the other contractors we met or talked with was the second characteristic I wanted to point out.
