Imagine our surprise, that while in town for business, and with time to kill before an art exhibition, we discovered an Uzbeki restaurant. Immediately upon entering, we were greeted and led to a large comfortable booth in the back of the restaurant. The lighting was warm, the walls were adorned with beautiful rugs, and the customers' spirits were high. Each table had been pre-set with the resutarant's lovely plates and crystal drinkware. Given that this was our first time at an Uzbeki eatery, we asked our server for some suggestions. Upon doing so, she then asked us if we prefer meat or fish. After perusing the menu a bit more and taking her suggestions into consideration, we had decided to order a wide array of sorts, opting for the pickled herring and potato appetizer, some Tandoori Samsas, a bowl of the Kharcho soup, and an order of the Guyru Dumplings. Our dishes were brought out promptly and our server made sure to check on us periodically throughout our meal, at one point even offering to allow the kitchen to split some of our dishes up for us to make it easier to share with one another. The pallet of flavors we were presented with was colored and wonderful; the pickled hairing playing a perfect duet with the hearty roasted potatoes, pairing well balanced acidity and perfectly crisp potatoey goodness, the kharcho simultaneously lightly spicy and fully refershing with that dill coming throough alongside juiicy chunks of lamb, and the the delectable dumplings, swimming in a flavorful bath of broth and sour cream. As we were nearing fullness, we realized we had forgotten to add one more piece to this meal...the dessert! After this realization, we decided to share a piece of wonderfully sticky Phaklava, adorned with and generously filled with walnuts and golden raisans. Suzani Restaurant is not to be missed. It is a dining experience that makes me feel like you've been invited into someone's home, but also that you are sitting down for a royal banquet. Be sure to check it out if you ever find yourself in the area. 5/5 stars

Wife and I decided to check out Plov House after hearing many good things about it. Plov House is a…read moresmall 9-table 24-hour place but was brightly lit and appeared clean with white tablecloths and plastic covers. Single page menus on the table, and customers were constantly in and out. Surprisingly, every customer coming in was a young male, some singles but most in groups. There's a couple of large refrigerators full of food in containers ready to go. After some language barrier ordering, we ended up pointing to what we wanted on the menu. I tell you EVERYONE who came in ordered Plov and bread. We did, too. Along with the assorted kebabs, lagman soup, and two Samsas. The soup was tomato based with homemade long noodles, beef, celery, peppers, onions, carrots, and celery. Had to alternate between a fork and spoon to eat it. The bread was extra tasty and was great to dip in the soup. The kebabs were fresh, very tender, and came with onion and some pickled hot peppers. My wife liked her samsa but I was getting full and took mine home. But the star of the night was the Plov with the most tender and flavor filled slow cooked rice with lamb, beef, carrots, and onions. I could see why most come in and just order it for however many were in their party. It's that good. Best I've had so maybe as others mentioned it was a fresher batch made. With two bottle Cokes and a wonderful pot of black tea, our meal came to $77 including tax and a small upcharge for credit card payment. Tip was left in cash. I will say that the prices on the bill were slightly higher than what was listed on the menu so be mindful of this. For instance, menu Plov is $14.99 but bill Plov is $16.19. Menu tea is $1.99 but bill tea is $2.15. You have to know that when most of the customers are holding court in their language enjoying their food in a constant stream, that Plov House is doing something right. The service was quite friendly. Highly recommended.

Notice the 503 five-star reviews on Google Reviews but just four of them on Yelp, where it is much harder (but not impossible) to post fake reviews, LMAO! And notice that almost all of the five-star reviews posted all over the Internet heap the same suspicious praise, commit the same grammatical errors, and were posted from accounts that have few if any other reviews, which suggests that they were written by the same person, perhaps the owner (again, LMAO!). As for my family's experiences with the food, it is days-old and microwaved, never fresh despite being extremely expensive compared to the competition. The beef and so-called lamb were rancid tasting, dry, and tough. The vegetables were generally wilted and old. The bread is greasy and hard (stale?). The $10 to $19 soups taste worse than a $1 can of Campbell's! No joke! The $5 salads have about 30 cents worth of mostly expired veggies. The only decent tasting product was the lemonade but it is very hard to mess that up as Chef Gordon Ramsay likes to say. But for $5 a pop? The restaurant itself is filthy, old, and dated. Lots of disgusting safety violations were cited by the city in their latest health inspection (click the attached screenshot or visit the site for the Philadelphia Office of Food Protection to read the inspection report). We peaked at the inside of the kitchen when the door was open behind the restaurant, and it was gross and disgusting! You would never eat here if you saw what we saw! The staff was friendly and welcoming but the food is what counts and it sucks on steroids. The $5 value meal at the fast food chain across the street tastes infinitely better than the $17 to $26 meals that my family ate here. Literally. And the $5 meals were more filling. Maybe Plov House should change their cooks and start selling fresh food instead of microwaved leftovers? There are several far superior nearby restaurants, even a few within the same shopping center. Anyone who has posted a good review must be a relative or foreigner who believes that boiled rate is a delicacy.

Many disgusting violations were noted in Tandoori's most recent health inspection reports (click…read morethe screenshots). This review is for the three adjoining Tandoori businesses in the same shopping center (Bakery, Grill, and Grill Market). I have seen, heard, and smelled huge rats by the back doors of all three businesses when I walked behind the shopping center, hence the failed health inspections as proven above. I have found traces of dirt and other contaminants in the food, which was also suggested by the health inspectors' findings. The meat is very fatty; it should be called "fat", not "meat"! The meat can also sometimes be spoiled. The bread is oily and too hard (stale?). The vegetables are usually great. But everything is grossly overpriced. And some items are way too salty, as if the chef is trying to cover up the bad flavors by adding too much salt? The three stores themselves are beautiful, new, modern, and clean looking (although the above-noted health inspection reports prove otherwise). The prices actually charged are often higher than advertised (classic bait-and-switch). Some staff members are rude, slow, and/or impatient. And good luck at communicating with them if you do not fluently speak their native language. I believe that Tandoori survives only because their customers are uninformed foreigners who believe that boiled rat is a delicacy! NOTE TO YELP: I am a real consumer trying to inform other real consumers. Please do not delete this honest, sincere review just to be politically correct. The truth hurts!

It's a small bakery that also sells prepackaged to go containers (cold to warm up at home). We came here for lamb samsa, plov, golbski, and lamb manti. Reasonable priced, good portions and delicious. The waiter was nice and pretty knowledgeable. Our seat and area had some rice from a previous party but the waiter cleaned it up quickly. We were recommended the bread and the samsa. The bread sounded pretty good, but flavor wise very mild with a tiny hint of sweetness. It certainly is delicious eaten warm though. Super crispy with a soft inside. It pairs very well with the Korean style short rib as it soaks up the sauce nicely. The samsa was pretty good. The crunchy crust with the pastry that encircles some meat and onions seems similar to the bread they serve. It comes with a sweet salsa. The flavor was nice, well seasoned but nothing too exciting. The beef short ribs were really good. There was about 6-7 pieces but they are not the skinny short ribs you see at Korean places. These were thick slices packed full of delicious fatty flavor with a kick of sweet and savory. No rice came with it but the bread you order is amazing with this as it helps cut the fattiness and grease of this dish. Lastly we had the kebabs. The sauce was the same sweet salsa with the samsa. It would be nice if they had other sauces that can be equally refreshing or something spicy could work too. The lamb nicely cooked and well seasoned. It was a solid dish that Lamb lovers would sit well with. All in all a great place with pretty reasonable prices. Excited to come back and try something else. You wouldn't regret trying it.
