The music was like all American classic songs. It gave splash mountain in Disney World Vibes. But with a very intimate speakeasy look. Even though it wasn't our style of bar, the drinks were exquisite. I tried the Turkish delight which had Pisco, pistachio cream and a few other little hints of flavor. This was the best drink they had on the menu hands down! We really appreciated the bartenders we had that night they were so kind and friendly. The young guy took our orders but the bartender spoke better English so she took over. Everyone there was actually super nice to us and we were the only non french people there. We ordered the apple specialty bourbon drink which was amazing and had pieces of real apple in it. After I switched to a classic old fashioned which she made just as good. By the way these are very strong drinks, well worth the $13 euro price tag. A guy then went to the small corner piano and began playing live music on a Wednesday night at 11pm! The restaurant has a gorgeous main dining room and terrace, but unfortunately they stuck us in the reject room (I didn't bother to take a picture), a small annex dining room off the main large space. It had nice views of the terrace, and at least we had a table by the window, but I regretfully wish I had spoken up at the time and asked to be seated elsewhere with better ambiance. We were served bread and popovers, a fun and unique alternative to the standard bread offering. They were crusty on the outside, pillowy soft on the inside, and had a nice buttery and eggy flavor. The food was delicious but quite rich in general. Mom and I went halfsies on two dishes. The first was the parmentier, a dish of duck confit topped with potato purée. It was luscious and flavorful, but probably contained an epic amount of butter. It was quite greasy and the potatoes were absolutely butter laden. Imagine rich duck confit topped with the absolutely heaviest and richest potato purée in the world, and that is this dish. Rich but good. It was impossible to finish because of the richness, even though we swapped our plates halfway through eating so we could sample both of our selections. We also tried the Scottish salmon with green lentils and bacon. The fish was cooked perfectly and the lentils were super flavorful. This was also a tad decadent due to the bacon-laced stewed lentils beneath the fish. I'm glad we opted for only main courses and not appetizers and/or desserts. Because this place is so posh compared to some of the other restaurants we visited on our trip, I feel like the service was also less warm in comparison to other experiences. Some of the staff was actually a bit rude to us when after our meal we wanted to go onto the terrace to take a look at the view. A server actually said we should have just asked to be seated there, like it was our fault. Very strange and awkward. Based on my personal experience, Le Mini Palais was overrated and the service was lacking. Even though the food was generally good, just heavy, I wouldn't come back here for a future meal, nor would I recommend it. There are far better restaurants in Paris with much better food and service!

My girlfriend and I found ourselves in this Mezcaleria on a speakeasy tour, engaged in conversation with a South African couple who had 25+ years of life experience on us and had just moved to the UK. Their sole purpose for moving was so that they could travel more. We talked about all of our travels and all the places we've been, but I found myself listening more than speaking. When I asked their favorite off-the-beaten-path destination, they would not stop raving about Tunisia. "Tunisia?!?" I said in disbelief. I'd never heard of anyone going to Tunisia. "It was absolutely magical" they responded in a strong South African accent and cadence. These are the exact moments I live for. Between sips of a stiff Mezcal Negroni, I asked every follow up question you could think of. "Whats the culture like? Is it a strong European Influence? How did you end up in Tunisia? What's Tunisian cuisine like? Was it a direct flight?" I could not have been treated more disrespectfully…read more Begining with the door service, continuing with someone very rude whose name was Lilian and, finally, with a female manager whose name I did not get, I was treated quite poorly. It was made clear to me that they have no interest or need in providing service to me. I explained to the manager that a complaint is a gift- an opportunity to make things right. She had no interest. How this level of service is acceptable is perplexing at this type of establishment. Needless to say, I am offended and disgusted. Will spend my money elsewhere and encourage others to do the same.
