An honest establishment with an excellent atmosphere, a great view for people-watching, and the best customer service we have received in Italy thus far.
Trying to find food in southern Italy with a celiac (friend) and vegan (me) in your midst has proven to be as difficult as I had expected; however, after passing dozens of other restaurants that were either overpriced, unaccommodating, or just plain rude, we stopped here to check out their menu. Although nothing immediately stood out, the prices seemed reasonable and we thought we could probably make something work. As we were humming and hawing, we were approached by the most wonderfully energetic and welcoming waitress who had noticed our waivering and assured us that the kitchen would accommodate any requests and that there would be no pressure and no hidden service charges--unlike most other restaurants in the area.
Patrizia seated us on the patio and I warned her of my dietary restriction. Unlike most service people we had encountered thus far who were dismissive of this, she took it in stride and started rattling off options that she thought would work for me. I told her that I would be more than grateful to have whatever the kitchen would make for me. My group ordered and she brought us complimentary WiFi passwords as we waited, all the while smiling and cracking jokes.
The chef--a sweet woman who poked her head out to give me the thumbs-up on making something vegan--whipped up a delicious grilled vegetable sandwich on pizza crust bread and despite having to custom-make it, they only charged me for the basic pizza-bread sandwich on their menu (€9). We were happily surprised by how reasonable the prices were compared to restaurants up the main strip that were in a less scenic location and were not as aesthetically pleasing.
After exploring Positano and Amalfi, the whole group agreed that meeting Patrizia was the best part of our day. If you have the opportunity to check out this restaurant, be sure to look for the beautiful woman with the most genuine smile in all of southern Italy! read more
