Very highly recommend Matt's service, On the Rocks!…read more I was in a bind as at the last minute (the day or three before my event) as my caterer didn't have the proper insurance/documentation to pour at the General's Residence at Fort Mason to my great chagrin. Totally under high pressure, I began to use Yelp to call around and then I found Matt who immediately had the right documents and emailed them to me, the right attitude (friendly, expert, prepared and cool) and also consulted with me in email about what I already had and what I still needed. He not only delivered smoothly and brilliantly on the day, but he was prepared with everything he needed more than I asked him to do and even went out and secured ice because we didn't have enough. Basically, before finding Matt, I was afraid I'd have to serve mocktails. With Matt, we served cocktails and everybody was very happy! Amazing person!! I absolutely will hire him again and suggest you hire him now.

Working with Molly, Maureen, and the entire Knights Catering team was one of the best decisions we…read moremade in our wedding planning process. We originally began working with Molly for our wedding scheduled in mid-june and had to majorly pivot as a result of COVID-19. In the months leading up to our wedding, their team invested an incredible amount of time and thought into helping us create a special day that would be safe, beautiful, responsible, and as close to original vision as possible. This included a visit to our new venue (my parent's backyard), completely revamping a menu + layout, and transitioning all food presentation to individual but beautiful packaging. About a week before our wedding of 25 guests, it became clear that the addition of Knights 12+ person staff would put us over the Alameda County restrictions for outdoor gatherings. Molly and Maureen came to us with a well thought out plan and options for how they could safely contribute to our event. This meant coordinating all rental load in, setting up a bar + appetizers before guests arrived, and returning the following day to make sure everything was cleaned up. While they were not able to be there while guests were present, their desire to still provide as much as possible made it clear they were willing to go above and beyond. Above all else, Molly and Maureen made the process of planning a wedding (during a pandemic, no less!) as pain and stress free as possible. They handled all communication and delivery of rentals, sourced all packaging and food, and made every one of our special requests possible. When we asked for personalized individual cheeseboards, they made it happen! Tiny cocktails with stickers? Yes. The highlight of working with a team like Knights is that they remain calm and collected, taking on the details of an event so that you can enjoy it. I can not recommend their services enough. The value of delicious food, thoughtful communication, and dependability is PRICELESS when planning. They will make it easy. They will make it fun. They will make it happen! Thank you guys.

Due to traffic we ended up arriving to the event late, but Nick at Elixir was very understanding and accommodating. We did the 2 hour mixology course, which included making 4 drinks (including mocktails for our non-drinking teammate). Overall the experience was beyond my expectations. Nick was extremely knowledgeable, and compared to other similar activities I've done did an exceptional job of educating us on theory, alternatives, and just general approach to making drinks in a way that landed super well. I cannot recommend working with Mandy highly enough. She is thorough, flexible, organized,…read moredetail-oriented, responsive, and straight forward. She's also fun to work with and she was so genuinely excited about our wedding. Simply wonderful. We hired her right as we started to plan our wedding and spent around 16 months working on it, with a few month-long breaks in the middle when we got really busy with our jobs/travel/other things. Several things stand out to me about her work for us: * My husband and I were long distance at the time, so it made everything planning just a little harder. Mandy handled this with ease. * We wanted to work a little bit of both my cultural and family background (Chinese) and my husband's (Indian and Greek) into the wedding, and Mandy helped us to find creative ways to do so and find vendors who could fulfill these ideas and creative ways. We were especially pleased with our food vendor who Mandy recommended. * I like that she will tell you what she thinks, but also give you space to make decisions. She is open to many ideas and aesthetics, and really helps you to reach the decision that will make not just a beautiful wedding, but *your* beautiful wedding. * Mandy keeps your budget in mind - we came in $3k under our overall budget exactly, and she will let you know. Generally she gives options in a 'low', 'medium', and 'high' range so you get an actual range of choice. * Her network is extensive. It's quite nice because it means that anything you are considering she already has lots of experience working with the possible vendors, and you can piggy back off her good relations. * She plans work in stages and never lets it get overwhelming. This means you get to trust that she's handling the details (and there are details you would never think about on your own, like the catering flow through the venue) and just work on the homework she's assigned. * She is flexible and rolls with the new ideas/changes in plan, bringing enthusiasm and professionalism to these changes in plan. Weddings are a sensitive business. There's so many dreams, aspirations, family obligations, financial constraints tied together. Working with Mandy made handling that so, so much easier. I think about my wedding way too often - and always with joy. (p.c. curtis myers)

Mandy did an excellent job of connecting me to vendors that made my wedding gorgeous. It was aesthetically quite beautiful. But the Day Of coordination was bad. It was somehow my job (?) to keep bridal prep running on schedule. This took me out of the moment. But worse, when the bridal party got behind, she was an absolute tyrant. She was rude to me, my friends and my family. You never yell at a bride on her wedding day! Not to mention-- I didn't hire Day Of coordination to be burdened with duties and chores. On top of that, she didn't allow me time to touch up makeup between photos so I hate my weddding pics. Then, there was "no time" to bundle my dress so there are some stains I can't get out. She was unbelievably unprofessional and shockingly disrespectful. Overall, everyone had a nice time except the people who had to deal with her directly. Including me. I've been hoping to get over it but yes, it's still a year later and she made me feel horrible on my wedding day, like somehow I was unworthy of MY own day. I can not recommend this woman's services.

There is a reason Jackie & Cookie are so highly recommended - they are the perfect combination of…read moreprofessionalism, organization, & genuine fun! From the moment we started working together, they made us feel completely supported & by the time our wedding day arrived, I truly couldn't imagine doing it without them. I had a long engagement, which meant I had *a lot* of ideas & questions. Not once did Jackie make me feel like any detail was too small or insignificant. Every vision, every little idea, & every tiny detail we discussed was brought to life so beautifully. Our wedding day flew by in the blink of an eye, but every time I caught a glimpse of something we'd planned together, it was exactly as we had imagined - & often even better! One of the greatest gifts Jackie & Cookie gave us was the ability to actually enjoy our wedding day. While we spent the morning surrounded by our family & wedding party, they transformed our venue from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception to dancing. Walking into each space throughout the day was magical, & knowing we never had to worry about a single setup detail was priceless. Jackie also kept the entire day running so smoothly. She led our rehearsal so everyone knew exactly where to be & when, created & coordinated our timeline, answered vendor questions, adjusted plans as needed throughout the day, & somehow made everything look effortless. She checked in with the wedding party - including making sure the groomsmen were all set - & kept everything moving without ever making the day feel rushed. On a more personal note, Jackie & Cookie were there for so many little moments that meant the world to me. They fluffed my dress before I walked down the aisle, & Cookie came to the rescue more than once when my veil & dress seemed to have minds of their own! Those are the moments you don't necessarily think about when hiring a planner, but they made me feel so cared for & allowed me to stay present instead of stressing about the little things. There are countless moving pieces that go into planning a wedding, & having Jackie overseeing every detail gave us complete peace of mind. She has an incredible eye for detail & thinks of everything before you even realize it needs to be done. Because of her & Cookie, we were able to soak in every moment of our wedding instead of worrying about logistics. Jackie & Cookie, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! Thank you for your kindness, your calm presence, your incredible organization, your endless hard work, & for making our dream wedding come to life. We are so grateful for everything you did for us & will always look back on our day with so much joy because of you both. We cannot recommend you highly enough!!

We LOVED working with Jackie and Cookie of AboutJoy. If we could, we would give them a 10 out of 5…read morestar rating for how much they went above and beyond for us. Even before we officially hired her, Jackie was acting like our wedding planner, and immediately began throwing out ideas that showcased our main focus for our wedding (delicious food and a beautiful outdoor venue). We could tell right from our first call that Jackie was truly excited about our vision and "got it." From there, Jackie was a true creative/collaborative partner, and helped make our special day a reality. Jackie brought a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to our planning - while she was always encouraging of our vision and would find a way to make my crazy ideas possible, she also was quick to offer a reality check based on her extensive experience (ex: she very smartly and politely informed us that using scented candles at our reception - while trendy - would likely summon bees and might get overwhelming given all the other floral scents in the garden reception area). We almost exclusively used vendors from Jackie's recommended list and each and every one did an absolutely stellar job. Jackie also did a phenomenal job of working with our outside vendors, and was even able to use her extensive professional network to solicit feedback on vendors we used outside of her list. She made the wedding process seamless and significantly less stressful than if we planned it ourselves, which allowed us to truly enjoy our wedding weekend and be present with our family and friends - if anything went wrong on our big day, we had no clue because About Joy had it handled! Once we had finalized all the major items with Jackie, Cookie worked closely with us to pull together details that added a very special touch to our wedding. She custom designed and drew our wedding signage, table numbers and menus to showcase our unique tastes and personalities. We had an outdoor venue and wanted to incorporate the plant life from the venue in our wedding materials, and Cookie drew 12 separate menu covers and table numbers that highlighted this plant life, and then hid custom sketches of our dog into each table number to bring in one of the important pieces of our life to our wedding - we love the designs so much they're going to be framed and put up in our home! Along the design journey, Cookie brought us along and solicited feedback, always taking our garbled thoughts and seamlessly translating them into a beautiful end product. She also brought so many unique ideas and suggestions to the table, including turning our escort table into a "meadow" and hiding our dog in the signage. It's clear that Cookie is passionate about design and her excitement for our wedding specifically really helped sustain our momentum in the final months leading up to the big day. Jackie and Cookie were truly dream wedding planners, and were lucky to say that they're now friends for life. Would 100% recommend hiring Jackie and Cookie from AboutJoy for your wedding.
