If you're into natural-wine, or would like to enjoy a homemade charcuterie with Italian cheese, olives and bread, while indulging on an exciting and ever changing wine list, Bar Lardo is well worth your time.
The first night I went, the opening conversation with the competent and accommodating bartender went somewhere along the lines of "I don't know much about natural wine, but I like the roughness and range of funky flavours, do you have anything cool to try?" - and then. It was done.
I sipped my way through mineraly and floral whites, to juicy orange wines with aromas that strangely took me back to the fresh feeling in your nose after the first sip of a cool can of coke, followed by strawberry and ambre colored proseccos.
A truly delightful evening of grape juice. And to top it all, a charcuterie with homemade belly pork (amazing with the prosecco ) and tender loin. With ample amounts of bread and olives.
Downsides: one lonesome tiny bathroom can become an issues when packed at weekends. Plan your pee-breaks wisely. That's about the only downside so far. Not had any other issues with the place.
After a large handful of visits I still don't look at the menu. The magic just happens when you talk to the bartenders, and they always have something new to try in the fridge. read more
