Bar Hütte has become somewhat of a stalwart feature of the Manchester Christmas activity. Its location on Spinningfields has changed from previous years to allow for expansion; facing Deansgate, it's gives a more immediate impression than previously when tucked away near the courts.
The wooden huts fit well within the wider Manchester Markets and aesthetically everything is well done. Instead of the outdoor bar surrounded by more wooden huts, they've taken the main bar inside this year - you can still rent the smaller ones for the likes of karaoke and there's some outdoor standing / seating but, if you're just looking for a festive drink, the main hut is probably the place to be.
The drinks selection is good for the setting, with Goose Island IPA on tap (£5 a pint) and plenty of hot mulled things you keep you going. The service does suffer from having the external huts, however, as staff are often running back at forth with their drinks orders, meaning standing at the bar can take longer than you'd like.
There was food available from well known Manchester street food trader Beastro but word on the street is they're adapting the unit into a cocktail bar. You can still visit Beastro down at The Kitchens on Leftbank if you're feeling a bit too merry after your drinks!
It's an A-OK place to be. It certainly left me feeling more festive than when I first entered, which can only be a good thing. read more
