Rigatoni alla Vodka with Meatball: A very large plate of pasta. The sauce is tomato and cream-based, and the flavor profile is quite mild. The pasta was perfectly al dente. It came with some Parmesan sprinkled on top, and I later asked the food runner to grate a bit more cheese for me. I also added one huge meatball and it was good as well. There were also some dark leafy greens in the pasta, but I wasn't entirely sure what they were. 3. Side of Bagel: We originally wanted a basket of complimentary starter bread, like sourdough, ciabatta, or focaccia. To our surprise, the restaurant didn't have any, so we had to order a side of bagel for $4... Overall, the food we ordered was delicious, and the portion size was quite geneous. The service, however, was mediocre. We waited a long time to order and to pay the bill, which almost made me miss my flight... I tried to make eye contact with our server, useless. But what really made me annoyed was that, when I was about to pay the bill he tried to select the tipping percentage for me?? So I ended up with only 10% tip. This then made him angry and said to us "We are in America you should behave well". Due to this, I may not dine in again -- after all, Chicago does not lack good Italian restaurants!

I ordered fried green tomatoes and fried chicken sliders. I have had fried green tomatoes at restaurants that I liked, but I haven't had unpretentious fried green tomatoes until coming here. No micro salad on top. No arugula for a garnish. No lobster, crab, or fancy meat on top under a specialty drizzle. Although a nice sauce that had a honey mustard flavor came on the side, the light crust on the tomatoes made them nostalgic. My grandmother used to fry hers lightly and to a crisp like these. On the chicken sliders, these were a hit. The chicken wasn't mostly seasoned crust but rather seasoned chicken. I had scrambled egg and Swiss cheese on the sliders with a light sauce that didn't overpower the sandwiches. And the buns were like buttered rolls. It's a small cafe with nice seating for solo, tables for two, and maybe one or two parties of 4-6. It is not for a party bus brunch crowd.
