It has a large and beautiful beer garden (and also a front garden) and a huge winding interior. I just love it. We originally went for a drink but then we saw the pizzas, many many pizzas coming out. They just looked too good not to try, so we did. AND we tried a bit more. We chose the portobello mushroom, spinach and egg pizza and the charcuterie board to share. The food came quickly and with a smile. My oh my. What a meal - portion sizes large and just so so good. The pizza was crispy and fully loaded and the egg oozed with yolky goodness. The charcuterie board had chorizo, Parma ham, ham hock ham, salami, pickle and rosemary flat bread! It's safe to say we ate it all and it was good. Both were very good although the salad was particularly salty. For half-portions, the sizes were also pretty impressive! Service was a bit spotty- our waiter would disappear for long stretches but it was quite busy that night. On another visit, I got the courgette, red pepper and spinach burger, and replaced the chips side with a salad. Whilst £12.5 for a burger is a bit pricey to me, the burger is dense and chock full of spinach and veg. It's not the most delicious veggie burger I've had but it's hearty enough and tastes well enough that I gobbled it up. Considering this place is almost down the road from me, living in Lewisham, I'll definitely be back!

I first went here for a friends birthday and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, atmosphere and price. I had always thought I would hate tapas. HOWEVER I loved this. It was gorgeous. When we first walked in we thought "oh shit, how are we going to hear each other". We hadn't realised that this place was also a bar. Luckily the bar area is separate to the restaurant. It's a nice atmosphere and when in the restaurant you can't hear the bar at all. The actually venue is amazing. Dripping with atmosphere and history- it is after all in the crypt of a church, and it doesn't disappoint. We had extremely helpful staff who were able to advise us on how to order and how many plates would fill us up. We ordered after trying to decide between many brilliant sounding dishes. The dishes came out from the open kitchen when they were ready. This means you knew you were getting super fresh stuff and didn't have to wait for anything else to be ready. This meant all dishes were cooked pretty perfectly. A few which I would recommend to everyone: The chickpea salad- before this dish I was insistent I hated chickpeas. The roast lamb with potato foam stuff- this is amazingly tender and AMAZINGLY tasty Duck egg chorizo and potato thing. This tasted beautiful. One dish I was under impressed with was the pudding- churros. I had them before in Spain and not surprisingly I preferred those. I'd rather fill up entirely on tapas rather than save myself for pudding. Over all it was brilliant. The only things I would say is.. A. Book a table or you won't get to eat there B. The guy who I presume is the general manager likes to air it about it, don't let yourself get annoyed with him and let it ruin your evening. Love the deep bar, picnic benches and warm, weathered furniture; not so much the weird seating arrangement that plonks three big tables where several small ones could sit instead. As long as you get there by 3.30pm on a Friday, you'll get a seat. The eccentric staff rang from odd to bat-shit crazy; most are very friendly though and they create a great local vibe, mainly by coming in and getting hammered on their days off. Wines from the bar are a bit scarce but there is a good rotation of ales. Black Sheep and Mad Goose are nearly always in residence and there are usually two guest ales as well. The food is awesome: oysters, rillettes, duck salad, lots of game and rich, meaty sauces. Not too sure about veggie options but the ratatouille is just amazing - a phrase I never thought I would hear myself saying. It's probably best for a midweek pint or diner for any occasion. Bit awkward for big groups if you're not eating or it's too cold to sit outside. Two courses for £11 on Mondays, very good quiz night on Tuesdays. Bar closes around midnight. Get the train to Herne Hill or the tube to Brixton and walk or get the 3, 37 or 196 bus.

The service is also quite fast and efficient. The decor is bright and colourful, it's a really nice environment to be in. I've taken plenty of friends to Pizaza and they have all loved it.
