Happy to have found this place while staying near Te Anau. We had one bowl and one bao. Both were very tasty. Service was friendly and speedy. The seating area was amenable and uncluttered. We were happy to be there. Tried to go back on a Sunday only to discover, to our everlasting dismay, that they close early on Sunday. Ditto (fka: Bao Now) has Asian fusion food in the laidback town of Te Anau. They have a menu of baos as well as bowls. We came around dinner time and was told it'd be a 30 min wait or so which is fine. We got some glasses of wine and sat outside (which can use some more heat lamps but is what it is). Ultimately had to wait for close to 70 mins before we got our food in a silent fashion. No mention of the wait. The food itself was fine, nothing to write home around but decent for the area. Bao bun was average but pork belly as good as you'd expect. The bowl was light and had some decent seasoning, but a bit expensive for what you're getting. And for the price and wait, would've ate anywhere else in town. read more

So good! The most unique thing I've had since arriving in NZ! The guy whose brainchild this was is super sweet-as! He came over for a chat and to check on all of our orders - we ordered dinner and then takeaways for meals the next day. There is literally something for everyone at this food truck. From the pickiest carnivores to vegetarians this small but wide ranging menu is fantastic. We literally ordered about half of the entire menu and loved every single thing. The karma cola was also a nice touch - it paired well with the salad and bao meal. Young, old, foreign, and locals alike could be seen eating here at all hours of the day - now if that's not the ideal endorsement to get you to try them out I don't know what would be! Fantastic service. They were able to tell me exactly what was in each order and how to cater to my dietary restriction (dairy free). Aioli sauce is incredible. I highly recommend their venison bao "Bambi." The loafed fries are also extremely tasty. Definitely get fries with your bao for an extra two dollars. The fries are great. read more

This place is really good. We got to this city late in the afternoon, so we were rushing to find a good place for dinner. Using yelp, we found this food truck had good reviews. We ended up trying the vietnamese loaded fries the cheeky, the tofuie, and the quinoa citrus salad. Wow! The loaded fries and the boas had amazing flavor. The beef was tender. Even the tofu was great. I didnt care for the salad. But then again, I dont really like salads. Now called Ditto this delicious little place has some of the best Asian fusion food around. They have a modern vibe with their great choices of playlists and helpful staff members. Their food always comes out relatively quickly and tastes delicious. My personal favorite are their Vietnamese loaded fries (enough for two if you're wanting to split). They also have delicious cocktails that switch up every weekend. Great place for a good sit down and hang out with friends. read more

Boa Now (now a brick and mortar restaurant called Ditto) was perfect for an inexpensive meal. The place was busy, but we only had to wait a short time for a table. We each ordered a Bao, venison and tofu. They were well-prepared, delicious, and inexpensive. Would highly recommend. read more

This isn't my first bao but not bad for a food truck version of the previous ones I've had before. I ordered the Cheeky Bao for lunch with fries on the side. The combination of the meat and sauce was great although I would've enjoyed the fried chicken one more. read more

Easily the best food in Te Anau (and probably the best food on my entire trip to the South Island) - stop reading and go here immediately. The baos are absolutely delicious and generously portioned with succulent meats, veggies, and sauces. The loaded fries Vietnamese style are also excellent, as the standard fries are decent but nothing to rave about. Highly recommend the Ocean, Bambi, and Feathered baos. Shout out to Gwen, who was very helpful and provided solid recommendations. Cash only with an ATM nearby at the adjacent supermarket. read more

Very good flavors and fresh tasting bao. Only issue was pretty hard to eat, some would say overstuffed. Would have been happy to pay a few extra dollars to split the fillings between two baos rather then one overstuffed. Definitely give it a try if you are looking for quick bite! read more

My Milford Sound bus stopped at Hollyford Cafe for a quick snack break and nothing looked appetizing. Apparently Hollyford is where all the tour buses stop so it's crowded too. I walked over less than a block away and found this gem of a food truck - Habit Foods. My husband and I ordered the Porky baos and they were FANTASTIC!!!! Totally hit the spot after a long day of travel. It was so good I finished mine in 5 minutes. Definitely recommend stopping here for a bite when in Te Anau. read more

This adorable food truck was delicious! We had the Krusty and Bambi. Cooked to perfection while chatting away with us! The owner stayed open to serve us and was way beyond friendly! I wish I could have tried them all, but we had the beef, pork belly, rabbit, and venison bao's, all of which were delicious. 2 weeks into our honeymoon we decided this is the best place we've eaten! The venison and buttermilk fried chicken boas are great and beetroot salad with added buttermilk fried chicken was delightful. We came here 3 times, before and after our big hikes.
