I brought in two watches (worth $480) to be engraved as gifts to my father and fiancé's father for our wedding day. When I dropped off the watches, Michael, the manager, assisted me with the engraving paperwork and let me know that the watches should be done the next day. I go back two days later and I see the two boxes my watches were in left out in the open on a counter. Michael then tells me that he did not get a chance to work on the watches yet. At this point, I wasn't upset and gave him the benefit of the doubt. When I went back the following day for the third time, I was given my watches back with SLANTED, UNCENTERED engraving on the back of both watches! Marissa explained to me that the store has a kiosk that repairs watches at the mall remove the backing of the watch so they can get it engraved. She continued on to say that they (a random kiosk unrelated to Things Remembered) did not put the backing on straight. So I asked her to have them readjust the backing, and after waiting for 30 minutes, she comes back to tell me that only one watch backing was fixed, but the other will remain slanted. I argued to tell her that Things Remembered did not provide me what I asked for. While this conversation was happening, Michael did not step in and avoided the conversation. At first Things Remembered refused to replace the watch I entrusted them with for a new one because they claimed that their engraving was correct, but it was the kiosk's fault for not placing the backing correctly. I could not believe they had the nerve to ruin a watch I paid for and then expected me to take it back. I ended up getting a new watch after various frustrating arguments. Michael, especially, was unhelpful. He made it seem like I was the one at fault for causing an issue by not taking back a watch I was unable to gift to my father anymore because he ruined the engraving to begin with. Never again will I step foot into that store as long as Michael is a manager.

Every year during the Christmas holiday season, I look forward to visiting a See's pop-up store…read more This one, at the Dulles Town Center Mall, is currently in an empty store. The previous year, it was in the now-defunct Godiva store. In past years, they had kiosks on the first floor of the mall. I was first here last week this year and wondered where the store might be. As I peeked at what was downstairs, I turned around...and...realized that I was standing right outside the place. That was convenient. That first visit, I bought a few items and was given a coupon to save $5 on $50 or more. That's a lot of sweets...but...it only comes around once a year. So, I stocked up :D. My husband and I like their chocolates. I prefer milk chocolate and white chocolate while he likes dark chocolate. See's appears to mostly have milk and white chocolate items. Although I did find something for my husband---"Dark pecan bud". It's pieces of dark chocolate with pecan pieces in it. Good thing we don't live out west or I would probably visit See's way too much. So, for us, it's a seasonal treat.

A local chain jeweler offered to reset the stones in a new ring, doing what they could to preserve its character. Their estimate seemed a little pricey, though, but what did I know? Although my daughter preferred retaining as much of the ring as possible for sentimental reasons, she was open to doing this. Guided by positive reviews about jewelry restoration, we then visited family-owned White & Ivory Diamonds and Fine Jewelry in the Village at Leesburg. A daughter, Alina, greeted us. She was delightful to work with, asking questions about what would be important to us and coming up with some creative strategies. Alina suggested keeping the setting and the ring itself while strengthening it. It seemed ideal, so we put half down and let them do it. They did the work within the estimated time, communicating regularly via phone text, and I felt optimistic the whole time. They preserved and modified the setting to display eight of the diamond chips and kept the original clamps that had held fast all these years. The "odd" diamond went into a recessed hole on the inside of the ring - a hidden jewel! They reinforced the lower part of the ring so it would last and could be resized and plated the whole thing with white gold. The best part was it cost half what the chain estimated. I'm sure the chain would have done a fine job, but my daughter couldn't be happier with White and Ivory's creative craft work. We're so glad we gave them a shot!

Since that gift package was no longer available I decided to go with a 12 month curated monthly subscription for coffee through Bean Genius. The review of them is below and not at all good. While I know that excitation doesn't have complete control over their partnership businesses the service i got from Bean Genius was atrocious and down right fraudulent. I called excitations customer service, who was always very nice and very understanding, to ask if they could try to talk to their partner to see what was going on. They were happy to do so but they were met with similar experiences as to their willingness to respond. At that point customer service asked what they could do. Since they weren't willing to refund any of my money I asked that they at least remove that vendor from their offerings so that no one else had to have the same experience that I have. Not only does this experience give me a bad taste in my mouth about Bean Genius but reflects really poorly on Excitations for promoting such a shady business. Excitation's customer service said they would look into it and continue to try to get ahold of them and get back to me. That was over 6 months ago and I never heard back. At this point I'd like to put this whole terrible experience behind me but I wanted to let everyone know that Excitations takes no accountability that your experience will be fulfilled and to let others know that whatever experience you choose DO NOT GO WITH BEAN GENIUS. They will take your money and provide you nothing in return. I purchased a yearly subscription from Bean "Genius" from a gift card my wife lovingly got me for my birthday. The first 3 months were great but then after that bags showed up infrequently and when they did they were duplicate bags from the same roaster with the same varieties. I attempted to reach out to their "customer service" multiple times (over a dozen) and only received a response once saying that they had a "bug" in their system that was causing the duplicates and that they would replace any duplicate bags with new bags. After that point I stopped receiving the coffee entirely despite the fact that they kept sending me emails that said my coffee was "on the way" and despite the fact that my dashboard kept getting updated with more coffee's that I never received. To exacerbate the issue and to complicate your ability to track your orders, the company does not send you with any tracking information when they "ship" your order so there was no way to even know if they sent anything at all. I have continued to reach out to their customer service department to get more information but my repeated requests were never answered. What was supposed to be a nice gift from my wife of a curated coffee subscription has turned into nothing but headaches and frustration. The worst part about the whole experience, aside that my wife feels terrible for giving me this headache (obviously not her fault) is that I was never delivered what I paid for. This company is a SCAM and FRAUD who will take your money and give you nothing in return.
