I guess my American appetite is just too much in south East Asian countries. The food is good but it came out separately instead of at once which had me waiting for my date to receive her plate. Despite the beer and staggered food service the place makes up for it with its ambience and readily waiting staff. If you are ever here, don't ever ever forget to order their Cha Gio. It's like our very own lumpia.. but XL in size. The dipping sauce that comes with it won me over. And their curry chicken? Two thumbs up. As for Pho, I always order their Pho ba, their beef noodle soup with herbs and spices. I can't get enough of their sweet savoury broth and tender slices of beef. Yum! You can ask for the actual banh mi to be sliced for easier consumption, though. For our sides, we tried their fresh spring rolls and spicy wings. We liked them both, though we think the spring rolls aren't as fresh as they ought to be as they were kind of dry BUT the dipping sauce made it much better. My friends and I love Pho and we decided to eat here and we loved it. So when I heard it was opening in Manila, we had to go back! The design of the store is similar to that of the one in Cebu. It's very simple, neat and bright with hues of red, brown and white. The walls are a mix of mirrors and chalkboards. They always design the boards with cute letterings, drawings and sayings. My friend and I just shared a homemade fish cake and we got one pho each, Pho Bo Vien (classic beef pho broth with meatballs) and the Pho Gan (their version of chicken noodle soup). The soup was so flavorful and the toppings they had tasted like they were fresh and not just the usual commercialized toppings. It was a nice warm and hearty soup!
