Walked in last weekend during a crazy downpour, dripping wet, and the barista just smiled, handed me a towel to dry off, and asked what I felt like without any rush. Ended up with their single-origin pour-over--Ethiopian this time--and it was bright, juicy, and perfectly balanced, like every sip reminded me why I fell in love with coffee in the first place. Sat by the window watching the rain hammer Pasong Tamo, worked on my laptop for hours with zero pressure to leave. The space is still that perfect mix of raw concrete and warm light, never too crowded, always calm. Staff remembered my usual order even though it's been months since I last dropped by. Five stars, easily--still one of the most consistently great coffee experiences in Manila.

It's good but I would appreciate it more if they served it in a larger cup and charge P150 and not a small cup and charge P140. I had the fig grilled cheese and it was kind of plain, it's not bad, but just nothing exciting for me. I was kinda disappointed since I was so looking forward to trying this coffee shop.

We stopped in one day to get some local, non-Starbucks coffee, and loved it that this place (in…read moreBGC) became our go-to during our visit to the Philippines. Probably went here every day that we were in Manila. Great place to chill and people watch, relax, and have great local coffee. Location is nice on Bonifacio High Street, so easy walk from our Shangri La The Fort hotel and elsewhere. Size is of a typical coffee shop with a few tables downstairs but there was a second level as well which I didn't get to check out, there was always space available in our experience and we went at all times of the day, even closing it out at night. Coffee is very good, although all I usually get is a black cold brew or just black local coffee. But the staff is great! Really. Everyone we came across during our visit here was nice, friendly, and patient. The way customer service should be. One night about 10 of us walked in, put a bunch of tables together, made a huge order, and stayed for a couple hours till closing. Staff couldn't have been nicer or more patient. Without skipping a beat they made our order with no problems and were just great about the whole thing. Smiles, the works. Glad this was our go-to.

A key to Fundamental Coffee's conception is Andre Chanco of Yard Stick Coffee. He and his partners are bringing back the basics of coffee. A no fuss experience, just coffee. Sounds very familiar... Their interior is like most hip coffee shops, industrial and minimalist with a modern twist, such as the menu on the wall, displayed on a changeable letter signs, and a wall of potted plants, that's actually alive. Mocha Cold Brew (140 PHP) A marriage of chocolate and coffee without the acidic relationship. Cacao leaves and coffee separately steeped for 12 hours each an bounded together to achieve a delicate taste, that's aromatic on the palate. I was expecting a punch of either from the chocolate or coffee, but I was surprised to have a subtle balanced taste of both. I can't wait to try the rest of their menu. Summer Iced Tea (140 PHP) African red tea leaves steeped for over 24 hours. A very fruity tea that's highly refreshing.

You can't be distracted by the noise and ruckus since the shop is located outside the mall. Employees are very accommodating towards the customers, even if the place is full. The menu is well balanced, there's a handful of drinks and meals that you can pick.I also recommend their iced mocha as your first drink. It has this distinct taste that I haven't tasted in other coffee shops. Minor things: Free wifi is strong and fast, there are a number of sockets so charging shouldn't be a problem, a big bottle of water will also be given to you every time you receive your order. This is my first time visiting fundamental coffee but I'm happy to tell you that I'm going to be a frequent customer of this place.

Just had the most perfect lazy morning breakfast at George and Onnie's (or Little Flour, whatever…read morethey're calling it now) and I'm still thinking about it hours later. Walked in around 7:30 before the mall got crazy, and the place was chill with that cozy café smell hitting you right away--fresh coffee and baked goods. Ordered the longsilog and wow, the longganisa patty was juicy and garlicky without being too greasy, paired with perfectly sunny-side-up eggs and garlic rice that was spot-on crispy. The atchara on the side cut through everything so nicely. Grabbed their signature ube pandesal French toast on the side because why not, and it was ridiculous--soft, custardy inside with that sweet ube glaze that wasn't overpowering. Coffee was strong and hot, just how I like it. Server was super attentive without hovering, refilled my water before I even asked. For the price, it felt like a steal compared to other spots in the area. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. 100% coming back tomorrow before my flight. If you're anywhere near Newport, don't sleep on this place.
