I mean there was heaps of bread but the place was shy on any variety of savoury goods. The only option, the cheese and bacon rolls were practically naked of topping and cost me $3. When I asked for the roll with the most bacon and cheese on it I was informed that they remove from the rear of the display racks first. Sill woozy from the previous night's activities and tired from the walk I just took what I got and left. I didn't have enough gusto left to argue.

I walk amongst the tables filled with high-vis clad gentlemen wishing I could pull up at a table. Although I don't envy the work of the labourers, I do sometimes covet their choices of morning meals, especially bulk servings of Tilly's Big Breakfast that consists of bacon, eggs, sausages, toast, mushrooms and roasted tomatoes ($16.95). If it's the weekend and I'm not under the man's clock, I like to indulge in one of their vast range of home made pies. If I don't time it right there isn't many (if any) left. Still, Tilly's is more than a bakery, it's a café that serves pretty decent coffees and it has an extended menu that caters for those who like a pizza. On Friday nights they are open until late so you can dig into one of their pizzas and listen to live and local acoustic musicians. The staff is always happy to oblige and very friendly to their customers, even if they are rushed off their feet. Having one cash register doesn't help things always run smoothly but its easily forgiven when you're smashing something down from Tilly's.

I hadn't seen it before so I had to go in. The smells of freshly baked good flooded out of the doorway as I approached and when I entered I was stoked by what I saw. A cornucopia of cupcakes, breads, cakes and pies all met me. The hardest thing for me was to choose something. In the end I got half a dozen cupcakes of various flavours and looks and when I got hot to my wife we devoured them like greedy children. What a discovery. She sometimes gave in and when she did, I was in heaven. It has to compete with Brumby's around the corner but I think Sweetie Pies is a real local treasure in Everton Park. There are always yummy cupcakes and cakes wrapped up and ready to go for any passer-by and as a local business, I am more than willing to support them and commend them for their lovely food and ridiculously cheap prices.
