Fantastic food--flavorful family recipes from Vietnam, modernized for a fantastic experience. Great cocktails, fresh tea, lovely atmosphere.

Greatest Chinese in London! Have been leaving here for about…read morethree years and tryed different Chinese restaurants, in my opinion this will be the top! The staff is very nice and the food is amazing and very tasty. The menu seems very original and with some dishes you will just have to take the chance and try because its difficult to guess what will it be like. Highly recomended!

A rather empty conversion of an old Vietnamese place on the main road gives an echoey room full of noisy contented diners and intriguing oily aromas. With no booking we had a short wait on NYE 2013 before getting our table for two and ordering coke and Tsinghua. The main menu was completely ignored in favour of the all-you-can-eat hotpot deal which weighs in at £18 per person. Spicy broth and clear broth came along with plates an plates of mostly frozen meat, mushrooms and seafood. Nothing tasted like good quality and the service followed the Chinese London pattern of being borderline aggressive, but hey, we weren't in Surrey Quays for fine dining and locally-sourced ingredients; we were here to stuff our faces with as much cheap and super-spicy stuff as we could. Deal with it. So bottom-less spicy hotpot does exist in London after all. It's not that good but still awesome that it exists. Don't eat for 2 days and then come here and don't stop eating for hours. That's how Elites do it!

The Royal Margin isn't the best Chinese restaurant I have visited and it looked so fabulous from…read morethe outside (well, before it has started undergoing work on the exterior hence the scaffolding) so I was thoroughly disappointed. The service is really very poor - impersonal and abrupt. The portions are also small and terrible value for money. I opted for my favourite dish of duck and I got two tiny pieces on the bone and with ginger and spring onions. The onions weren't at all appealing and tasted odd with the ginger essence. Being uncharacteristically British, I did complain about the portion and all the waiter could do was advise me to speak to the Chef who looked so unfriendly that I didn't dare say anything. Needless to say I won't be returning. Perhaps this was just a one off bad experience but it just shows that first impressions really do count.

I don't know what the place was like 2 years ago, but I have always found the staff to be friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. They will come to help you if you want help and signal so, rather than butting in every few minutes whilst you are talking to see if you are happy or want anything more. For me, that is perfect. I thoroughly recommend it!
