I've been coming here for years I think the food is generally tasty and they have such an extensive menu. Among my favourites are the XO noodles and the duck or seafood ho fun. As appetisers, the aromatic duck is excellent. Tonight I ordered salt and pepper squid, spring rolls, as well as newly added braised pork belly and pineapple fried rice. As always, they were all decent. The shortfall came from the staff. The person whom waited our table was probably newly hired (we have not seen her previously and we come here often -- once every 1-2 weeks). She got our order of spring rolls incorrectly (was given the vegetarian one instead of the non-veg one). Then when I ordered the fried rice, she proceeded to ask "would you like rice on the side?". Confused, I mentioned that it's indeed a rice dish -- it's a fried rice. All other staff members were great, especially the young man who saved the day and got the rest of our orders right!

In the culinary desert between Canary Wharf and The City, Noodle Street was a pleasant surprise. After exhausting the limited delivery options in the area, I was desperate to try something new and am very fortunate to have found Noodle Street. They offer mainly Chinese dishes and dim sum along with a few Vietnamese and Thai staples. Yesterday I ordered the bung thit tom, sweet chilli chicken with steamed rice, and beef in blackbean sauce with fried rice, as well as char siu buns. The delivery came about 20 minutes late. That was annoying, but seems to be pretty normal 'round these parts. On the food front, things didn't start off terribly well. To quote my other half, the char siu buns 'tasted like a freshly vacuumed room smells'. They were a bit doughy for my liking, but the good news is everything else was surprisingly good for such affordable takeaway. The sweet chilli chicken had sufficient kick, was tender, and had good flavour. It came with steamed rice, which was a special request (it normally comes with fried rice . . . not my favourite). The beef in blackbean sauce was similar in quality - solid takeaway fare. What really impressed me, however, was the bung thit tom. I absolutely adored it. The noodles, the fresh veg, the shrimp - it was all lovely and only £7.60! Most entrees at Noodle Street are under £8, and with a minimum spend of £15 for delivery, you can order dinner for two delivered to your door for well under £20. Can't really beat that in London. So while the dim sum was disappointing and the food is not out-of-this-world good, Noodle Street has earned a spot in my weekly delivery rotation.

So on one side westferry is right by the Thames and really pretty. On the other hand- really local and still quite a east london type area and hence you get some wonderfully cheap and cheerful places, like this one! :) We rocked up here at 9 after an event for a quick bite and it was a great choice (well done hazel!) The food was lovely- my hotpot noodles were so pretty and yummy and full of veg and seafood! Can't go wrong for £7! But I think what stole the show was the fried tofu. The batter was GLORIOUS. Yes. It was like agadashi batter and done in a Chinese way like salt and pepper tofu. Just wonderful! Drinks took a while but all in all great meal!

    Soft shell crab. Yum!

A hidden gem near West Ferry DLR station. I came here with some colleagues for lunch one day and was really impressed. Okay so the venue is a bit of an uninspiring box but the service is good, it offers a diverse range of dishes and is great value for money. I had soft shell crab for starters. Not the best I've had but still very tasty. For main I had grilled salmon with fried rice which was delicious but a bit dry, it could do with a little sauce. They do a great lunch time offer of starter, main and a soft drink for £9.95 - bargain!

I was craving pho so dropped by. The location was very convenient - across the street from the movie theatre we were headed to! The pork dumplings were a-ok, and the pho was not entirely authentic (noodles were thicker, beef was a bit dry) but the soup was very good, and it scratched my itch! Clean and spacious venue, too. I'll be back!

Today, we tried the Vietnamese spring rolls, which were also great (they came out fresh and hot).

The La Mian Stall is an institution and long time resident at the the sunday market at Brick Lane…read more To find them, they are near the top of brick lane market, right underneath the underpass, closer to Shoreditch High Street Station than Aldgate East. Sundays only from some time in the morning until 5pm when the market shuts down. What you will find is a little taste of Asia in the best possible way. Hand-stretched flour noodles (la-mian) made right there before your very eyes, boiled, then served in the broth and meat accompaniments of your choosing. I had one with minced pork and 'special sauce' (who doesn't like special sauce?) and it was really good. The noodles were (obviously) really fresh, the broth was decent, and the pork bits salty and flavourful. AND all for about £5 a bowl. They also have chicken, roast pork, chilli tripe, and all kinds of available versions in addtion to some wok-fried items and really tasty dim sum. The only dim sum I tried was char siew bao, and it was legit (£1.50 for two). Plus they have a plastic table-clothed table for a few people (can maybe fit about 8 or so people) and some cheap plastic stools to sit on, so it is one of the few places along the brick lane market where you can actually sit down to eat. So authentic in its practicality and function that it makes me smile. This is also a great stall because you can stare at the guy making noodles, which is a fun show in itself. He's got skills.

** IMPORTANT NOTE: I think these guys go on holidays for 3-4 months at the beginning of the year,…read moreso don't freak out like I did when I kept visiting Brick Lane every Sunday hoping to catch them! Hopefully they'll be back soon :( ** I've been extremely picky about Chinese food since arriving in London, but luckily, this little La Mian stall under the bridge at Brick Lane has got it right! Fresh hand pulled noodles (la mian), swimming in a bowl of broth with your choice of roast duck, chicken, minced pork, and a few other variations. They also serve up other small dim sum items, such as pork buns, shrimp dumplings (har gow), pork dumplings (shiu mai), spring rolls, etc. I've tried their roast chicken leg, which is very good. The broth that they use is a mixture of soy, chicken (possibly beef) bouillon stock powder, plus a few other things. I think the broth could be better, but for the quantity I get, and by London standards - there's not much else to complain about! I've also had their tan tan noodles, which came with 5 or 6 pork shu mai. The shu mai was alright, I don't think they make this, and it was in a spicy peanutty soup. I've had proper tan tan noodles before, and this kind of missed the mark. Tasty in general, yes.. but doesn't really resonate a true bowl of tan tan noodles. i think I'm just gonna stick with normal noodles in a basic broth + meat! As for seating, there's a little table with a few small stools, but good luck getting a seat unless you're on your own! There's also a huge jar of chili oil on the table too, so don't forget to drizzle some over your noodles before taking off. The cost is very reasonable, especially for the quantity that you get. I think it runs you anywhere from £5.50-£7 per bowl, and even though they don't look THAT big - don't let it deceive you, as you will literally have to roll away. In Chinatown, a crappy bowl of noodles will cost you about £6, plus their "discretionary" (translation: mandatory) service charge. However, be prepared to wait for your food! Its awesome watching the noodle man do his thang, but with everyone standing around watching, its hard to figure out where to queue, and if people are even waiting in the queue. I believe this is a 2-man show, and while I get that they are popular and I'm sure they're popping out as many orders as they can - we waited 45 minutes for 4 bowls of noodles, which is a bit ridiculous. I think if they had a 3rd person in there, it would really speed things up. In any case though, if you have a lazy Sunday, get in line :)

The restaurant is just like a stereotype Chinese restaurant.... very dirty... to be specific the carpet is very greasy that I didn't feel comfortable walking on. Variety of food ...but... they dont serve hot pot meat in the self selection area(you have to order seperately).... got fooled by picking the BBQ type meat(since they serve both hot pot and BBQ all ypu can eat) and the service girl never mentioned a thing until my meat is cooked and I asked her if there's meat for hot pot. What's the point of self serving hot pot if I can't serve myself. And the service staff were not helpful at all. And moreover, worst broth ever... I dont know what they put in those broth but the spicy one way too salty yet the tomato beef one way too sweet. 3 times the amount salt and sugar needed. I normally love hot pot to death but this place failed me epically

We've ordered 2 take away dishes: Fried Japanese Tofu in Sweet Chili Sauce~ £9.80. The round shaped tofu are lightly fried with very silky and soft center, stir fried with squid, shrimps, imitation crabs, carrots and zucchini in sweet chili sauce. The dish has a little bit of kick from the chili and goes very well with a bowl of steamed rice. Young Chow Fried Rice~ £5.80. This dish was on a bland side and decent sized. This restaurant seemed like a nice place to dine in if we're ever in the area again.
