The best Thai meal I've ever had. If all of the Thai in Sydney is this good, I'm in trouble…read more There were some good Google reviews, so we chanced it. They were spot on. The restaurant was nice enough: better than average decor, not much ambience, but great service. But the food. Oh, the food. Starters: the soft-shell crab was meaty, moist, delicately battered, flavourful, and accompanied by spicy chili sauce. My wife - who's rather a crab aficionado - said it was the best soft-shell she'd had. My fried squid was tender, thick, plentiful, and had sweet chili sauce. The mains: Goong Choo Chee (local king prawns with house curry, fresh lime leaves, coconut milk and aromatic herb sauce) for $22 and Ped Ob (succulent duck breast fillet roasted, with special house sauce, cucumber and carrot) for $19. Cooked to absolute perfection, and with sauces that exploded. So, so, so good. Must go back. BYO for wine.

Came all the way from Canada and went to Thai Essence for a family supper, and all I can say is we…read moreenjoyed every meal served!! From their refreshing watermelon juice, crispy entrees (my son could not stop eating their eggrolls and their battered soft shell crab) to the soup and main meals. All were super tasteful and well presented. They have an extensive menu with a lot to choose from. Despite their busy evening, you could feel the staff was attentive to each clients present. Easy to find free parking on a saturday and baby friendly atmosphere. Really nice decor which made great family pictures souvenir. Definitely worth a stop, you won't be disappointed!

Beautiful restaurant! We visited from the States and the chef surprised us with her specialty…read moredishes. We had the seafood fried rice, fried fish, papaya salad and other fabulous dishes. The smoothies were so good. The mango smoothie is now my children's favorite drink. I don't think we'll be able to find the same drinks in the states. We returned a second time before our trip ended. Must try the fried ice cream and sticky rice mango coconut dessert. So delicious. Compliments to the chef(s), all the employees and the owners. Everyone was so welcoming to us. Highly recommend for authentic Thai food with great ambiance. Everyone needs to try this place out. You'll love it and will never want to go to any other Thai restaurant in Sydney.

The food here is delicious…read more The owners of this restaurant also runs Home Thai in the city which serves amazing food, hence I had high expectations for this place, which they easily exceeded. Some of my favorite dishes here include: -Meing Kum: Diced salmon and fresh lime served in Betel leaf -Moo Ping: Mini pork skewer dusted with roasted rice powder. -Morning Glory: (This is a favorite) Tiger prawns with tempura watch spinach topped with fresh salmon roe -Larb Lamb: Lamb cutlet coated in a spicy crust. The Thai milk tea was delicious too and we finished the meal off with the Ta Koh dessert, which is Taro with coconut cream. Everyone loved the food. 5 stars!

What a cute name is Bo Thai (bowtie)! After finding out the connection it has to Home in the city…read more(my absolute favourite for thai in Sydney!) there was no stopping me in checking out this little place on the North Shore. Overall it didn't quite meet the level of Home, however the food was still pretty damn good. And on top of that, the staff at Bo are so lovely and hard working. Really great service which is one up Home and actually pretty hard to come by with the city staff. Bo was ridiculously busy, mainly with the continuous stream of takeaway/delivery orders, yet the staff managed to speed through it all with a smile on their face. Having a craving for som tam but also fearing the level of spiciness I had to go through, it was actually quite a relief that it wasn't too bad in heat. Still hot but manageable. Felt the serving was a little small for the price though. However, would still recommend as it was tasty. Also got the pad thai which was not very hot although should have been a little, but I enjoyed it. It was definitely quite heavy on the sauce and a little too sweet but on this occasion I didn't mind the strong flavours. Nice big serving also. The rice and noodles are definitely good options to fill you up as they were both sufficient servings, and I have to say the fried rice here is really really tasty at that. Not as salty or spicy as the others, but just the right level and a fried rice you wouldn't mind having again. I think this place is great, and a fantastic option for Thai in Crows Nest.
