Banggin' Potts is a local favorite in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and after my visit, I can certainly see why. This family-run operation knows exactly what they're doing in the kitchen, and it shows in every dish that comes out of the door.
One thing to know before you go is that the menu changes regularly, so you won't necessarily find the same offerings every day. That's part of the charm. It's worth calling ahead or stopping by to see what's on the menu because there is always something tempting coming out of the kitchen.
I ordered the pork chop, and it was absolutely phenomenal. It was seasoned perfectly and coated with a flavorful breading that complemented the meat without overpowering it. Every bite was packed with flavor and cooked just right.
While waiting for my order, I watched a steady stream of food come out of the kitchen. Everything looked fantastic, and more than once I found myself wishing I had ordered something else just so I could try it too. That's usually a good sign. I already know I'll be back the next time I'm in this part of the world to sample something different.
Don't let the curb appeal keep you from stopping. Some of the best food you'll ever find comes from places that focus their energy on the kitchen rather than appearances, and Banggin' Potts is a perfect example. All orders are carryout, so there isn't a dining room. Plan to enjoy your meal in the car, at a nearby park, or back at home.
