There is no BBQ. The selections were so few. No fruit, green salad, desserts or drink selection besides sweet and plain tea. $17.00 for dinner for this! The food workers did not wear gloves or hair nets yet the place was busy. On the buffet, white rice, plain pulled dry pork, fried chicken, pork n beans, marcaroni corn bread, coleslaw, hush puppies, chicken with a supposed BBQ SAUCE, green beans, potatoe salad and pickles. Paper plates anf plastic silverware. I think it must be a Friday night hangout for locals. They are easy to please for I thought it might be worth $7.00 not $17.00. My wife and I are born and raised Southerners and know great BBQ having eaten it for 70+ years. Yesterdays' BBQ and Hash & rice was mediocre at best, although the fried chicken was very tasty. First time I can remember leaving without eating all of my food or taking home leftovers, Maybe it was a bad day or time, but the staff was Not friendly at all. We can find great BBQ elsewhere. This is the first all you can eat BBQ place I have ever been to. You pay up front and then it's all you can eat and drink. There are some items that you can pay for that are extra like the banana pudding. If you go away hungry - it's your fault!!!! It had quite a selection on the bar. All of the southern classics were available and might I say I liked them all. . Mac N Cheese, green beans, coke slaw just to name a few. The BBQ consisted of hash and rice and shredded pork. They also had a chicken dish and fried chicken. The shredded pork had great flavor and was moist. The fried chicken was hot and fresh. I can't imagine someone coming here and not finding something to eat. The hash was delicious. The staff was friendly and so helpful. Very local!!! I really enjoyed visiting this place. This is a classic staple in my hometown of Orangeburg! Everytime I visit home, I grab about 2 plates, and a few quarts of hash. I've looked for hash and rice all over NC and haven't found it yet. Everyone always turns their noses up like they've never heard of it. I recently visited Aiken,SC and they had it at Duke's BBQ! When I eat hash and rice, it brings back so many childhood memories. Came to town and my family decided to visit antley well the only thing that was good to me was sweet pickle and potato salad and the cut green bean has no taste but I can deal with that and the shredded pork meat well still don't have any flavor. My family still like coming and as for them 4 stars. As for me 2 stars. I like food that good spices are embedded in the meat and you don't have to put sauce or salt or pepper to make it good. My family has been coming to Antley's since long before I was born. The quality has never wavered. Between the rice, hash, pulled pork, barbecue chicken, fried chicken, macaroni, hush puppies, baked beans, rinds and green beans, my favorite has always been the hash. I could eat *way* too much of this food *way* too often. Though the price has gone up probably four dollars for adults since I was a child, $11 for all you can eat of this amazing food is still a fabulous price. Unbelievable. I have called Antleys 4 times to place an order. First I'm hearing the staff working when phone is answered, then no one says a thing and hangs up!. Call 2, it's sent to their Fax, call 3 it's answered by a man,whom I say," I'd like to place an order please", he puts me on hold. I'm on hold nearly 5 minutes then phone is hung up, call 4, phone is answered and hung up without a word!. I had stopped going to this restaurant for awhile because when I would get potato salad, most of the potatoes were not cooked! I decided after it's been awhile to try it again. After today, I'm done. My friends in Orangeburg swear this is the best place in town for BBQ and I never argue with them! The food is cheap, delicious, and the sweet tea is always flowing. The fried chicken and hash here are better than the pulled pork, in my opinion, but the house made BBQ sauce is great! Their Mac and cheese is really flavorful and the green beans, cooked with pork, make provide at least a façade of a healthy side (but we all know nothing healthy tastes that good). This is my second time visiting this establishment and I was impressed. The chicken wasn't dry I had a breast the rice was cooked all the way through no hard pieces. I like the $11 for me and my son it's cheaper then ordering a plate to go then still be hungry afterwards so I rather pay the $11 for the buffet. The fried chicken was a bit dry (most noticeable with the white meat of course), slightly crisp, but not as good as crispy or tasty as Biddie Banquet 3 miles away. Texture will change depending on the cook, I've had better the previous visit. Only pulled pork is offered as the barbecue meat item--sauce is in big squirt bottles. SC is known for their pulled pork, I'm not a fan of it in the first place, but having to drown it in sauce for some flavor didn't help it any. I had two plates (c'mon, $9 is still money). When I returned home, I dozed off immediately when the notorious M.S.G. launched a full-on attack on my brain. They have green beans overcooked in that way Southerners like if you have a vegan friend in tow. I grew up in Branchville and would always come here with my family. My boyfriend and I drove all of the way from Columbia to Orangeburg just to come here. (: I hadn't had it in years and it was his first time. He loves cooking and trying good food; therefore, he can be very picky. Well, he LOVED it. I'm glad I brought him. A lot of my family lives in and around Orangeburg so I've gotten to come to Antley's a lot over the years. It has always been one of my favorite restaurants and I don't think any other barbecue place beats this one. "Bad Attitude Antley's" should be this company's new name! And their new slogan should be: "Don't expect a smile!" This rating is not for the food, but for the very rude and pushy Antley's staff members. Today was about my 6th bad experience with rude Antley's employees, so I decided that I would leave a review with some customer feedback. Every time I go there to eat at Antley's, one of the employees is treating me badly. Even when I call in my food for a pickup order, I am spoken to badly by an employee, who acts like I am inconveniencing them. When you walk in the door, not one staff member is smiling. They all act like they wish you were not here. Most times after I have gotten my food, I feel as if the cleaning ladies are pushing me out of the door, before I am even done eating. I actually had a lady start cleaning my table tonight when I was still seated, and in the middle of eating my food. This was VERY uncomfortable and unprofessional. (This was an older dyed-haired brunette lady with a green/white plaid blouse and tight jeans) Who wants to eat at a place where patrons feel pushed out the door. It wasn't some sweet lady wiping my table, but an angry, bitter, woman with a frown on her face. She acted like I was in her way, and that I needed to hurry up. After she was done wiping my table, I told her "thank you," and I was totally ignored. I asked a different staff member, when to expect some fresh chicken, and the woman rolled her eyes, and told me that they "weren't making anymore." Then she went back to texting on her phone. It wasn't what she said, but how she said it. With an Antley's bad attitude. They should coin the phase! That is 2 very rude encounters with Antley's employees in one evening. The last several times I have gone to Antley's I have been treated badly. I love the food, but the staff is very unprofessional and not pleasant at ALL! I will NOT be returning until I hear that the staff is kinder and more professional. There are many other eating establishments who will appreciate my patronage.
